*Adult Content 18+ May Contain Triggers* Losing the love of my life the summer before we were set to go off to college together destroyed me beyond repair. James committed suicide weeks before we were to start our lives together, leaving me broken and haunted by the ‘what ifs’ of life. There just wasn’t any way I could attend the college we chose together, and I was certain there wasn’t another option at what most would call last minute. When another University agreed to take me, I packed up my car and headed to the Sunshine state. I needed to get as far away from home as I possibly could- reinvent myself, protect my heart and concentrate on college while never allowing anyone inside the fortress I’d built around me. But Brandon wasn’t just anyone… Brandon wasn’t your average college boy; he’d been there, done that and had no time for childish play. His cool, confident mask hid a man with deep wounds of his own. He was in college for one reason and one reason alone. He was there for his degree and to learn the life lessons his father set out in his will for him – a condition required to gain his legacy. Women were trouble, a distraction he didn’t want or need. His bed was open for a few hours, but never anything more. But he hadn’t met me yet. Can two strangers with hardened hearts find peace in each other? Can Lilly prove not all women are heartless bitches? Can Brandon break through all the walls Lilly has firmly in place around herself and her heart?

I get wanting to sell your books but to fake your own death and then come back with no remorse for hurting so many and taking their money. Shame on you

Authors faking their death by suicide and then the truly unhinged statements after it comes to light? No. Will not be buying any books by this author ever.

Author pretended to die by self on her social media and then announced she actually didn’t and it was a lie. Let’s not support the person who laughs at suicide and treats mental illness as a fun popularising thing.

The thing about this book is it perfectly encapsulates what actually happened IRL with Susan. This book contains a suicide and a bunch of trigger warnings for that suicide, but Susan herself did not dare give us a trigger warning before she faked her suicide.

This book, once again is a generic slog. It's no better than anything else you've ever seen at a Dollar General. I found it to be more focused on the suicide angle than anything else and it was just boring. Especially when Susan's own suicide faking was more interesting than anything in this book and had more drama and stakes involved as well.

It's basically a romance where one character randomly kills himself weeks before they were to be together and another guy/his best friend steps up. It's really stupid because the depiction of suicide is actually offensive in my opinion and not worth a trigger warning but instead a don't write this warning. Like the suicide comes out of nowhere right as everything is putting itself into place and going to get better, there seems to be no reason for him to do it, and it destroys everyone around him. Maybe you could have just had him hit by a car or killed another way instead of making it like oh his life is great, and he suddenly killed himself for no reason.

It's very stereotypical without the research that usually shows why people commit suicide. People don't just commit suicide right before they get a happily ever after or married, that's weird and illogical, statistically unusual. She must have read vague statistics and just assumed everybody will commit suicide at random moments and drop dead which I find super offensive. But Susan is very offensive as is. She didn't need a book to make her more offensive she was naturally that way.

2 stars. Not worth it.

Lilly has just lost James who committed suicide, he was her best friend and her first of everything including love. Lilly and James had so many dreams and plans together including going to the same college and now Lilly is lost, devastated and angry that he didn't keep his promise that he would forever be there for her. Now Lilly has decided to go to a different college miles away from where her and James had decided to go to college. Brandon has a lot of baggage and doesn't trust easy or let many people in but he still tries to be supportive of other's, then he meets Lilly and they became best friends after a bad start when they first met. Brandon doesn't trust women after the way his mother left and then treated his dad right until he died but he realises that Lilly is different. Omg this book spayed me and I felt as if I was going through everything with them as I read this story. There are so many emotional parts but you have to keep reading to see what will happen next on such a difficult subject. This book by Susan Meachen was so well written and makes you realise just how quickly life can change. I definitely recommend you read this book and you will definitely not be disappointed.

A book full of heartbreak, guilt, tears and love in equal measure. Focusing on the fallout when someone you love takes their own life and trying to live your life afterwards. Lilian (FMC) has to do just that when her boyfriend James commits suicide. Popular at school but hiding dark thoughts when he dies Lilian blames herself and finds it hard to cope. A new University in a new place where no-one knows her takes her away from everyone she knows but whilst shes there she struggles to integrate with new people. Until an unlikely friendship with Brandon (another student) opens her up to a life after James. Oh boy did this book make my heart hurt. You cant help but feel for Lilian because James was her whole life growing up. They were each others world and its so sad to read. With the sadness theres also the story of hope that runs along side with it. Hope for a life after James for Lilian. Yes this book is sad but its also beautiful written from Lilian's point of view. Her thoughts, her feelings and her guilt. I went through a spectrum of emotions reading it. Ups and downs but it was so worth it

An amazing and insightful read into the ricochet effect suicide has.
Lilly thought her life was all planned out, until the night her longtime best friend and boyfriend committed suicide that is. Now Lilly is having to relearn and continue on with her life without him and on a different path other than planned.
There have been a handful of books over the many years of reading that have affected me the way Never/Ever has. I fell in love with Lilly and all of her struggles. While reading all you can do is hope Lilly gets over whatever hurdle she is encountering at that moment. She's a true testament on what you can do when you put your mind to it.
I honestly could go on and on but for this book, less is way more.
Really all you can do is sit down and enter Lilly's world. You may come back to your reality for a breath every once in a while but Lilly's story will pull you back in before you know it!!

Very hard to read...but one that everyone needs to read.
Life doesnt always follow the cookie cutter visions we have growing up. Sometimes life drastically changes that has you questioning everything in your life...from why? To how could have I prevented?
This story follows such a life with Lillian...losing the one she thought was her only makes her make absolute choices that set her up to fail. We follow her through pain, anger and finally acceptance through patience and understanding.
This book willmakeyou see life as it is for survivirs and victims..if you get nothing else from this book get one thing.... There is ALWAYS an ear to listen no matter who or where you are. Suicide Prevention takes all of us to start liatening and stepping up for everyone and anyone. No One is Alone and No One should be Alone. Please call if this is you. It doesnt cost anything except time and the willingness to listen.

the story is one of hope and second chance after this major tragedy. it contains a very important message and maybe more than one. ask for help when u feel down or if you have bad thoughts. don't give up on life if someone else decides to end theirs. the fc need her time to mourn, but i love how strong she is anyway. the mc is unfortunately too fictional, but i hope out there there are still guys willing to listen and to help and to love without second purposes. in general i liked this book very much. the narration on the other hand was flat and rushed. thumbs down from me, sorry.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was one of those books that I just couldn't put down. It starts off sweet, then a tragedy follows. Get ready with the tissues because the poor woman's heart just couldn't take it. For years she shuts down all communication with any other man. It's just too painful for her. This is a sweet, yet heart-wrenching story. It is also oddly enough - inspirational. I highly recommend it. Susan Meachen has done it again.

First this book comes with a trigger warning.
It was a very welk written book that discusses suicide and effect it can have on others.
It focuses on a woman who loses someone so close to her, and she then needs to learn to carry on without him and try get her life back in track.
Finding that her life plans have now also changed and adapting to this change makes it harder.
This book will draw you in with the story, and it will set you off. Remember to take breaks during. But the author did a fantastic job writing and telling this story.

This is a great story about overcoming the affects of losing someone to suicide. This book may contain triggers for some please keep that in mind before reading!!

I really enjoyed see how Brandon helps Lilly overcome the loss of Jamie. He sneaks right into her heart and doesn’t let her get away. She also helps him overcome some of his demons! I did feel the ending was rushed a bit but it was still a good book.

I loved this story. This is not my first book by this author but it is my favorite yet. This is a young adult story that took me on a roller coaster ride. It is a fast paced story that is engaging and had me turning pages fast. This story could cause some triggars but if you can get past the suicide and other triggers this is really a good story. This is a story about a young girl who tries to put her life back together after her long time love commits suicide. Will fate give her a second chance at life, at love? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next.

Lilly has to start her life over after losing her long time boyfriend. Moving away from her hometown seems like the only option. She vows that she will never fall in love again. So, can Brandon make her see that she will find love. Together they have to help one another overcome their pasts.

This author is bound and determined to rip my heart out and show it to me. With. Every. Single. Book. I’ve. Read. Of hers. Holy banana. I’ve run the gamut of emotions again in Lily’s story. This book is heavy. It’s deep. It drips with sadness and despair. But it also has love and hope. Friendship and trust. You break with Lily. You feel her everything. So when she finds the good in life again, you feel that, too. It’s pretty amazing.

I enjoyed listening to the audio version of this story. It was an emotional story about a girl who has lost her boyfriend to suicide and how she tries to move on with her life. I found the characters to be believable and relatable and the narrator was very easy to listen to. I would recommend this story 👍🏻

This is a short book and the story is good but there was lots of things missing to make the story flow and it had major editing problems. The book does show what happens when one person does something and how it effects everyone around.
