Most women in our culture find themselves overwhelmed, overworked, frustrated, and stressed out. We strive to live up to expectations placed on us by our culture, our family and friends, and ourselves. In doing so, we stuff our feelings, live distortions of who we truly are, and deny truth. Everyday Self-Care is one woman's guide for dealing with all that. It is an offering of how to let your soul dream again. Of how to practice self care that leads to soul care. It is learning how to rewire our thinking, find our still point and sacred space, and to find rest to restore our mind, body, and emotions. This book is full of encouragement, ideas, and gentle nudging to feed your soul, listen to yourself, and find a way through pain and suffering so that you can learn the process of life long self-care. That process will be much more than getting a mani/pedi or massage. The process of self care will guide you on a journey to becoming who you truly are and from that wholeness practice compassion that impacts the rest of the world.
I recommend this book to every woman at any stage of life.
I am not a religious person, but I was still able to relate. In this book, the author gently leads the reader on a journey of self-care while sharing many of her own experiences. She encourages the reader to move at her own pace and has even inserted recommended “pauses”, so the reader can sit quietly, contemplate, and journal.
The suggested exercises provide the reader with visuals to help focus her thoughts and to look inward to understand the “why” of her thoughts. Take control. Reduce harmful stress.
I will be using some of these exercises to improve my own mental health. To get the most out of this book, I would suggest a quick scan through first to familiarize oneself with upcoming expectations, and then go back to the beginning to start healing.
