Sweet on the Swede
Nils Jorgenson has lived his entire life in Cottonwood, Iowa but after the recent death of first his wife and then his father he needs a fresh start. With his rambunctious four-year-old-daughter in hand, he answers a call for a furniture maker in Creede, Colorado.
Having married once for duty he vows to only marry for love this time around, even if Nellie needs a mother. On the day of their arrival in Creede, circumstances and Nellie’s invisible friend, Mina, lead Nils to saving the life of the lovely Norwegian Bridgette. But when Nellie declares that Bridgette will be her new mother, Nils becomes resistant.
Bridgette Englestad has been living at Celeste’s House learning to read and write English since her recovery from captivity the night Archie Grady died. While she plans to make the most of this new opportunity she longs to be reunited with her parents. More than that she longs to meet the Viking Warrior that can claim her Nordic heart. Could Nils be that warrior? It seems like someone thinks so as his daughter declares Bridgette will be her new mother. But when another demands her hand a contest is struck. The prize: Bridgette herself.
Can Nils truly be the warrior of her heart? Can Bridgette and Nils overcome impossible odds to win the contest and become husband and wife? Bridgette doesn’t know. All she knows for sure is she’s Sweet on the Swede.

One day while spinning a tall tale for his family, some suggested once again that with all his experiences in ministry and his imagination, he should be writing books. This time it was like lightning struck him and he decided why not?

Another good multi author series.

Sweet on the Swede captured my heart with Mr. McVey’s gift for storytelling, likable characters, some history and lore of other nationalities incorporated into the story, a very special “friend” to a little girl and one nasty piece of work villain. Yeah, this one grabbed my attention and did not let go until the final page.
Nils and his daughter, Nellie, are setting out to start a new chapter of their lives in Creede, Colorado. He’s a furniture maker who has been requested to make his way from Iowa to a new life. With the passing of his wife, it’s just Nils and Nellie now… oh, and her imaginary garden bird lady… or is she really imaginary? Nils isn’t against another marriage one day, but this time he’ll wait for God to bring the perfect woman into his life, no more marriages of duty for him. What he doesn’t know is that a plan is already in place, one his daughter is well aware of… even if her father won’t believe her.
I loved Bridgette and her immediate interactions with Nellie. The attraction between Nils and Bridgette is obvious, yet their romance plays out very nicely with many traditions, history and the lore of their native lands included. Our nasty villain shows his hand quite early on, and I absolutely loved the way he was taken down by our hero. Never assume, you know what is said about that word. If you’ve followed the Cowboys and Angels series then Sweet on the Swede will bring back a few friends into your life… if not, then this is an amazing series that I highly recommend to any reader who enjoys Western Historical Romance. I enjoyed every moment in this story, and I believe you will, too.

Fun Western Story with a Twist!
This is the 22nd book in the Cowboys and Angels series. The heroine was mentioned slightly in previous books as she was in the second group of captured women and was rescued when Celeste was taken. Nils is the hero and possibly in a different series from George McVey based in Cottonwood, Iowa. Nils has a daughter and his portrayal of her words is hilarious. The angel in this story is not seen much but often mentioned by Nellie making most people assume the angel is an imaginary friend. There are several authors of this series and George's are refreshing in that he gives a lot of time from the man's perspective. Sadly the man's perspective is often skipped with a female author. Finally, a unique twist in this story is the ancestry of the main characters. They are Swedish and Norwegian and the story ties into the marital beliefs of the Norse. I highly recommend this series!

This is my first book I have read by this author and it was really a good story.
I know some women authors don’t think men can write romance but George McVey seems to be able to create not only really good characters, good ones and evil ones he also creates a good romance with lots of problems along the way.
I really enjoyed this story and I highly recommend it for those who like historical western romances and if not you should try this genre as there is so much to the stories.
I am going to be reading a lot more of this authors stories.

Awesome and exciting.
Loved the entire story. I could not put it down. Thrilling and funny and serious all in one. I love this series and all the characters in it. All of the authors have been great a few even greater. This author is one of my favorites. Keep up the great writing. Thank you for another enjoyable story.

💞 Brigitte and Nils 💞
Oh, my heart! Was this story romantic, or what? I absolutely loved the story of Brigitte and Nils! And that little cutie pie named Nellie! I’m not Scandinavian, but I loved the image of the warrior Prince and Shield Maiden.

Great story
Nils (furniture maker) and Bridgette
I enjoyed reading this captivating and sweet story that is well written with an interesting plot. I love how George incorporated the history, beliefs and native language of their native countrys. This story has a satisfying and complete loving HEA!

The story line was a bit different and I loved Nellie!

Sweet Story
I loved reading Bridgette's story! She had been kidnapped and rescued, and was working hard when she met Nils and Nellie. I love that Nellie is the one with an ability to see her angel! I also loved that she was skilled in woodworking too!

I never thought I would get to this point in my life, however I have found THAT author. I can not express enough what a fantastic writer Mr. McVey is! His in depth storylines, the plot twists, the emotions he brings from all his characters....just. Yeah. No words.

A Viking Warrior
I really enjoyed this story. Many of my ancestors were pioneers who traveled from Norway for a new beginning in America. I appreciated being able to learn a little about shield maidens.
