Ann Mayburn

Ann is Queen of the Castle to her wonderful husband and three sons in the mountains of West Virginia. In her past lives she's been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist, a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead(though she will deny to her children that it ever happened).

From a young age she's been fascinated by myths and fairytales, and the romance that often was the center of the story. As Ann grew older and her hormones kicked in, she discovered trashy romance novels. Great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she's never looked back.

Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her 'sexy space' and has learned to type one handed while soothing a cranky baby.

This book was HOT, so frigging hot!

BDSM is like catnip for me, menage BDSM with a fucking sexy Scot who wears a kilt, and a fucking sexy Englishman in tight leathers, is off the charts! I loved Liam and Rory, two friends that have known each other for 12 years, and both harbor strong feelings for the other, but neither is willing to take the first step and admit it to the other. Then you have Rhiannon, whom everyone thinks is a bitch, but she is hiding a very painful past. You bring all three of these people together and we get scorching hot sex scenes, we get angst, we get sweetness, and in the end we get three people that bring out the best in each other and find the courage to move on beyond their pasts and embrace a future together.

I really really enjoyed this one!

This might be my favorite book in this series so far! Dear lord. The hot factor is off the charts on this one! Masters Liam and Rory are amazing. And getting to know Goddess aka Rhainnon was really nice. Any book where you can witness a person who struggles with internal demons and come out winning is a good one, but I was just rooting for Rhiannon from page one. And poor Liam's mental turmoil....Each of these characters struggles were tangible and the ending is just absolutely perfect.

Can't wait for the next in this series - I'm dying to know more about Hawk and Sunny....hope we don't have to wait too long!

Club Wicked Series is a stellar solid 4 star series. In the latest installment, My Wicked Masters, Ms. Mayburn pens another fabulous story. This one tugs on the heartstrings. Rhiannon aka Goddess at Club Wicked is a snarky and confrontational wait staff. She's can freeze a male dominant's dick off with her icy glare. She cuts a male dominant's balls off with her sharp tongue. Yet she wants to train to be a submissive.

Goddess appeared briefly in previous books. She didn't leave a positive impression. With her as the main character in this book, it is debatable if the story would work for me. Within the first few paragraphs, I'm hooked. Within the first few chapters, my eyes are leaking and I'm still denying it was tears. I read this story in one sitting; I couldn't stop reading it.

Ms. Mayburn creates amazing characters. Goddess is a misunderstood and severely traumatized person. Usually, I'm not a fan of this kind of character getting into the lifestyle. Ms. Mayburn writes it in a way that makes it so good. Rhiannon is already done with therapy. She now wants to live and take back her sexuality. For someone with her background, she's come a long way. Every reveal in Rhiannon's life breaks my heart a little more. I don't know how Ms. Mayburn does her research or comes up with her ideas. She did a phenomenal job in the American Roma gypsies. By showing the contrasts between Rhiannon's upbringing and after her fall from "grace", it makes this story more powerfully emotional. More eye leakage will occur as the full history is revealed.

Ms. Mayburn does not stop with the Rhiannon's pain. While the reader is already bent over is sorrow, she gut punches us with Master Liam and Rory's rocky relationship. Liam's family's stance on alternative lifestyles is not uncommon. Their action and response to those who are different is abhorrent. Liam's fear is that of a young boy. When something so painful is experienced at an impressionable age, it is hard to overcome, no matter how a boy grows up to be a strong man. The struggle for Liam to accept Rory's love while helping Goddess become a trained submissive is almost too much.

Ms. Mayburn brings it all together and it's beautiful. Her writing style is smooth and rich. The characters are loveable. The sex is smoking hawt. The BDSM is to die for. The club is once again a fantasy play land. This story does revolve around a club for the rich. It's the only reason why I categorize this as glitterkink. The BDSM is realistic. The lessons in how to be a submissive is definitely a way some learn to become a submissive. To be the focus of two men is a heady sensation. Still, Goddess does come across as a disrespectful bratty sub which is all too common. Once it's clear why she response the way she does, it's painful to watch. Ms. Mayburn does a great job of showing how triggers could occur during a session. She also shows how the three work together to overcome the issues. This is not to say that it can be done in every situation. In this one, it turned out to be a happily ever after.

Ms. Mayburn is an auto-buy because her stories are moving and her characters are great. For those who enjoy a bit of emotional wringer and hawt BDSM intimacy, this is the book for you.

Ann Mayburn is one of those writers that when you read her books every one of your emotions get into play. This book is a prime example of that. She had me crying like a fool before I got to chapter three!!!! Seriously!! I am sooooo in love with this series. Each book grabs me more and more! I fell in love with Master Rory and Master Liam in the prequel about them, My Wicked Trainers, and this book made me love them even more!! First off they are British and Scottish, can you say orgasmic combination??

Rhiannon Mirga is known to the patrons of Club Wicked as Goddess, and most of them believe the bitchy persona she hides behind. When she asks Master Rory and Master Liam to train her, they are shocked to see the woman really behind Goddess. Her reasons for building the walls around her are also the reasons she needs them to train her. She is ready to get over the horrors of her past, and just maybe find a Master of her own. She just needs to learn to trust a man/Dom, and be able to trust herself. After years of therapy she is finally ready, and it doesn’t hurt that the two sexy Masters are the first two men to ever turn her on in a long time.

Liam and Rory are all set to take some time off from training. Their friendship is in trouble, and the reason for that trouble is they are getting in the way of their own happiness. They have been in love with each other for years, but Liam is unwilling to accept Rory’s love as anything beyond friendship. There is something about Rhiannon that calls to both of them, and no matter what is going on between them they can’t say no to her desperate plea to be trained by them. Will this damaged beauty be the glue that holds them together, or will she be the final straw blow to an already fragile bond??

Oh my sweet LAWD!! I could not put this book down!! When you pick this one up make sure you have the time to read it in one setting, because time just got away from me. I really wanted to just hug all three of these characters at times, because they all broke me for them a bit. Their journey to HEA isn’t one that is all flowers and rainbows, but goodness it is breathtakingly beautiful. I really hope we get to see more of these three in the books to come. And LAWD do I hope Master Hawk and Sonny’s book is next!! I need their story!!!! I hope y’all enjoy this book and series as much as I have!!!! :)

Wow.

Yes, so articulate. But, that's my first response on finishing this book.
Wow.

Now, for a little expansion... Book 2 (Nanny) of this series ended in a somehow unsatisfactory manner - I enjoyed the book but there was something about the last scene/ending that stopped at about 70% up the plateau: leaving me with a moue instead of a smile. Book 3 (Devil) was lovely. But, Book 4 (Masters) - Oh, so lovely. So, so lovely.

Still, not articulate enough.

I'll say I think that the author's understanding of the culture not only bleeds through the scenes at the club and the scenes with sexual content, but also permeates the characters thoughts, actions, and development throughout the book. That was what made Book 3 so tasty - and all the more so in Book 4. I will admit that I didn't need Liam's conflicted feelings about his love for Rory, and how wrong it was, to be repeated every single time he felt love for the guy. It was established. Yeah, it probably was how he felt every single time but, sadly, it started to feel a little repetitive until towards the end more was added from backstory to give depth to why he was feeling that way. Otherwise, superlative.

There's the right balance between 3 main characters, with none of them really taking dominance (reference intended ;) ) in the story telling. I *adore* that they go on dates - not just have sex (at the club or home) - real, fleshed out dates not just precursors to sex that are meant to establish in the readers minds that they are becoming invested in each other as people and not just sexual objects. I found myself saying "why that bugger!" a number of times as each of the men showed their rivalry to each other, trying to each have/win Rhiannon for themselves rather than working on a solid triad, and this made it all the sweeter when they did settle into a balanced relationship.

The connection between the three was believable. The sex scenes were superb. And the sense of the characters being real people, who we could care for and pull for, is so on the mark.

I strongly recommend this book (and the short story that preceded it - "Book 3.5" - where we saw Rory & Liam's historic first (truly) sexual connection and got the basis for the majority of the conflict (at least for Liam) in this story.

Night Owl Review

Original Review Published here: http://www.nightowlreviews.com/v5/Rev...

I found this book well written with interesting and realistic characters. Ms. Mayburn’s has the ability to draw the reader into the story and then before you know it you are hooked. I read this book in one sitting. Overall, this was a wonderful book and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Rhiannon Mirga is known as Goddess in Club Wicked. She has reputation for being an ice princess who is beautiful but unapproachable. Rhiannon is a submissive looking for the right master however, her biggest issue is no one around her at the club except a small few even know she is a submissive. So when Rhiannon faces her fears and asks Master Rory and Master Liam to train her to blows both of the men away.

Master Rory and Master Liam are trainer at Club Wicked. They train submissive to embrace there submissiveness all without taking a sub for themselves. Master Rory is in love with Master Liam however, Master Liam refuses to accept it much less embrace it. They are very close to spiting.

I loved seeing that Master Liam and Master Rory were willing to see if they could train Rhiannon. The chemistry between Master Liam and Master Rory is blistering but when you add Rhiannon it gets down right explosive. The sex scenes between the trio is scorching. I hope we get to see more of this trio in the near future.

My Wicked Masters is the fourth book in the Club Wicked series by Ann Mayburn. Each book in the series can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel with ease.

Another great installment in the Wicked series. I love Rory and Liam, they could be my Doms' anytime.

My Wicked Masters isn't your basic book about someone finding their kinky other(s). Everyone deserves a HEA but with some it takes an inner strength to take what has always been there for you, and for other strength to leave the past behind. This is a wonderfully written book about the personal struggle and acceptance one must go through to find love and friendship. Of course there is a lot of great kinky sex involved. :)

This book is my favorite of The Club Wicked series. I fell in love reading about Liam and Rory in My Wicked Trainers and was so excited to continue learning more about them. Rhiannon "Goddess" Mirga needs a strong man to surrender to but instead she finds two.

This book was scorching. Thank God I was reading it on my nook, if it was the paperback version, it would have burst into flames. But what made it worthy of the five stars was depth of emotion and back story Ann Mayburn did an excellent job on fleshing out all characters, but particularly Liam and Rhiannon. I ached for both of them. This book was truly worthy of five stars. I can't wait for the next installment.

This one was better but also more angsty.
There's too much time with the back and forth between Liam and Rory and we finally have them at the end ...
Rhiannon had violent reactions sometimes that i found difficult to understand but overall it was interesting to know about her and her different view (from mine at least).

I would've loved to have Sunny and Hawk story though ...

I'm not always a big fan but Ann Mayburn is becoming one author i'll follow closely !

Wow

Just wow.. another character I thought I wasn't going to like but dang it's true you can't judge a book by its cover and I totally judged Goddess. Truly loved watching her come alive in the hands of her Masters and vice versa. Loved how they didn't give up on the idea of love no matter how scary it was they pushed for each other.

Beautifully Done

The storyteller spins a web of love acknowledged, found, and shared. As always she draws in the reader with her insight into a world most don’t know but read about. In the telling the reader experiences emotions along with the characters. With bated breath one continues the journey right along with them and falls in love with these amazingly strong people.

What a fantastic story

Absolutely loved this book. Menage and BDSM are my favourite genres so both together are amazing. Rhiannon has overcome a brutal past to get to the stage of asking Rory and Liam to train her. As their relationship grows then Liam has to work through his own demons to enable them to move forward. Loved every word

All three were at various times annoying. It’s rare I say a book is too long but this was too long. BDSM light in the extreme. The scene at the end was really acting not about Ds. And it was creepy. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by very well done books in this genre.

Not to make light of the heroine’s past but she needs to fire her therapist. There was really too much going on there. She’s submissive, but also the abuse and then the disowning and then also everyone hates her....yawn. The subplot with the men who willingly have sex in front of dozens of people as entertainment being so repressed was bizarre.

Sorry, I pictured a famous actor who dyes his hair red for Liam. Not sorry.

And, there’s a huge difference between bullocks and ballocks. FYI.

My Rating: B+ Liked It A Lot

The fourth title in Ms. Mayburn’s excellent Club Wicked series focuses on a few familiar faces. Rhiannon Mirga, known at Club Wicked as Goddess, has been a server at the club for three years. She’s known by her icy demeanor and for her issues with anger management. What isn’t known by many is that Rhiannon has a horribly painful past, which keeps her locked up and afraid to open up to others.

The story also features best friends, Masters Liam and Rory, whose backstory is told in the wonderful novella, My Wicked Trainers. The pair are the best submissive trainers at Club Wicked, but they are considering a temporary break from action. The pair have been best mates for years, but their undenied mutual attraction is tearing them apart. It is only after hearing Rhiannon’s pleas for help that the pair decide to give it one more try.

Early in My Wicked Masters, we learn that Rhiannon is not all that she appears. Her lack of self-confidence and inability to trust others becomes blatantly clear to the reader, and fortunately, some of the submissives at the club. At their urging, she approached Masters Liam and Rory, and it is in this scene that we see glimpses of the woman Rhiannon is meant to be as she pleads with the pair to take her on. The entire scene is very emotional and well written. We see the difference between Rhiannon and Goddess, and so do the men. Rhiannon is a likable character, one I rarely took issue with. However, I did get frustrated with how quickly Rhiannon would become Goddess and assume the worst of Rory and Liam. It's not that she just assumes the worst, it's that she is so rude and mean to two men who have never given her any reason to doubt them. Her jealousy of other women was too over the top at times. I'm so glad that the men didn't usually let her get away with her reactions.

However, it is Liam and Rory’s story that steals the show. Since we are privy to both males’ POVs, we learn early on that each as an undying attraction and love for the other. It is so heart-wrenching to see how this denial is tearing apart the best friends. It is only through their at first competitive but then mutual love for Rhiannon that each man can come to terms with his feelings for the other. My heart was continually tugged back and forth, creating a strong emotional attachment to all three characters. And it was statements like this that just killed me over and over:

“While part of him wanted to shout at Rory that they couldn’t help her until they helped themselves, he managed to choke the words back.”

As a threesome, the group dynamics were incredibly sexy and sensual. There was some competition at first, which added a credible conflict for the group. How they worked through it all was well done and worth the effort. It wasn’t a smooth journey, and I appreciate the ups and downs each character experienced.

There were only a couple of sticking points for that took me out of the generally fluid tempo of the story. First, I felt that Rhiannon’s conflict with a coworker, Sunny, was okay, albeit somewhat dramatic, but the final confrontation and their conciliation felt forced. While it was necessary for Rhiannon’s character to grow, I just wasn’t a big fan of that side story.

Also, I experienced some confusion towards the pinnacle point when Liam and Rory begin to tear down their walls. For almost the entire story, I understood that the blame for the friends’ division to be shared between them, both certain that the other would never want more than a friendship. But, a seemingly abrupt shift in blame, when one man takes it all upon himself, threw me for a loop, and took me out of the story for a little bit, even though it doesn't impact the overall storyline, nor does it diminish the pair's struggles to accept their relationship.

Overall, My Wicked Masters is a deliciously wicked treat! I thoroughly enjoyed the sexual chemistry, growing romance, and mutual acceptance each has for the others. While Rhiannon’s emotional instability was disconcerting at times, by in large, the story was filled with emotional highs and lows that created interesting characters and strong emotional bonds. The story is filled with great chemistry, amazing sex, and touching love.

Book 4 in the Club Wicked Series, MY WICKED MASTERS, will make you want to visit the kinky club just to watch all the drama unfold inside of its walls.

Rhiannon Mirga has some anger management issues. Known as Goddess at Club Wicked where she works as a server, the ice queen has built up so many walls due to her horrific past that she invariably comes off as a cold, heartless bitch. Though Rhiannon tries to ignore the insults, the words still cut deeply, especially since nobody there knows the real her. Rhiannon gathers up the courage to ask Master Liam and Master Rory to train her to be a good submissive, a request that shocks everyone at Club Wicked.

Liam and Rory hesitate to take the wounded woman on, but ultimately can't resist the magnetic attraction to her. The two of them should be going their separate ways since it seems they're constantly at each other's throats. The last thing they need is another submissive to train when they can't even get their mutual attraction under control. As the men fall helplessly in love with Rhiannon, they'll have to deal with their own anger issues as well as hers. Do the three of them have any chance at ménage happiness?

MY WICKED MASTERS is book 4 in the Club Wicked Series and can be read as a standalone novel. Ms. Mayburn has a good writing style and the book was blessedly free from editing snafus, but unfortunately, I really didn't like the way the story played out. I truly disliked Rhiannon, and while I felt horrible that she went through such a horrific experience, I didn't feel like she should constantly be given a pass for her extraordinary asshattastic attitude. Working at a BDSM club after being kidnapped and told to submit would give anyone PTSD, so when she is constantly "triggering", maybe she should consider another line of work.

I enjoy a good BDSM book that isn't a cookie cutter of every other novel out there right now, but I really didn't see MY WICKED MASTERS as a BDSM book. Aside from the fact that Rhiannon called Rory and Liam her Masters constantly, even in everyday situations--which drove me nuts--I hated her extreme emotional flip flopping, smacking a bar bitch one second and in subspace the next. A light spanking does not a sub make, nor does calling someone Master make them so. Liam and Rory were so far from the commanding and stern Dom that it was laughable to call them that…and their "training" didn't exist.

The book topping out at almost 400 pages, I grew increasingly agitated by Rhiannon's whiny jealousy, anger, rudeness, anger, neediness and clinginess that it took a real effort to even finish this book. She was a horrible main character, and not in a "you're so awful I love you" kind of way. The saving grace of this being a 1 star rating was the sexual chemistry and tension between Rory and Liam--that was delicious and excellently written. Other reviews have applauded Rhiannon's bravery and the emotional impact of this story…personally I was just annoyed. - See more at: http://www.theromancereviews.com/view...
