Willa Witt is colorful, literally. She has rainbow colored hair. She’s a straight shooter who tells it like it is. Her motto is, “If everyone said what they were thinking or feeling there would be a lot less confusion in the world.” Her life centers on her friends, grad school, and historical architecture, which leaves little time for romantic interests. What is a busy girl to do when a smoking hot vampire wants to rock her world? Grab on with both hands. That’s what. Identical twin brothers, Etienne and Ivan Delacour, both want Willa. One wants to love her and treat her like a queen. The other wants her dead. Can Etienne keep Willa safe long enough to eliminate the threat to her life? Which vampire will be Willa’s ultimate fate?
V.A. Dold is the USA Today Bestselling author of the Award-winning Le Beau Series, League of Guardians series, and K.I.S.S series. Her idea of absolute heaven is a day in the French Quarter with a cup of café au lait, and the Le Beau brothers, of course. A Midwest native, with her heart lost to the French Quarter. She has a penchant for titillating tales featuring sexy men and strong women. When she’s not writing, she’s probably reading or traveling. Oh, and there is the distinct possibility she is hanging out with Etienne.
Sorry, but this isn’t to endorse reading this book it’s also not to advocate not reading it ,it’s just me needing to get some things off my chest because this book is making me crazy at the moment and sadly NOT in a good way.... Now feel Ms.Dold is a very good writer and I fell in love w/some of her style and ideas 💡 for PNR back with Cade and Anna.... Anna was one of the very few h’s I came across that wasn’t a young idiotic girl hi thought she knelt all,but for once a real feeling grown woman, who God bless her was over 40 but got to have her cake and eat it too when her fated mate was able too bless her w/a new younger body , courtesy of becoming a shifter, soo she was able to have sense and wisdom that comes with age and then a rocking bod from her mid 20’s... That was a Wow 😳 moment for me,was soo refreshing to not have deal w/a TSTL teenager or young adult like you usually get .. now while i know not all ppl between 18-24 aren’t stupid self entitled/absorbed jerks, sad too many are in these books and honestly in PNR o al genres,I don’t understand why you always seem to have to have a H who is anywhere between 209-2000 years old paired with a teenager or someone who acts like their barely out of their teens ? Deep sigh, is honestly part of my problem w/Willa.....coz Dear lord, does this chick straddle the line between being fun and unique and a tiresome annoying bore... Now ok,while Etienne isn’t the oldest Vamp. I’ve seen by far,I can see how 500 years of living could start to weight down on a guy especially one w/The multitude responsibilities that someone like him has... But Willa with lame way she shortens a beautiful name like Etienne to Etie ? Seriously ? And all the other things she’s got him doing while she stays exactly the same and dares him to grumble or complain or she’ll just take her toys and run away home ...sighs... that’s the feeling you get as our noble and funny and sweet sexy H scrambles to kiss her rear... To me this relationship feels unequal ,I feel like Willa has all the power except in her TSTL moments ( running out w/out weapons or training to fight a vampire) and even then that doofus Darius is clincher a warrior” and telling Etienne heeds. Learn to adjust ... ok, Darius is right any guy that expecting any decent woman to just sit and stay like a well trained dog,w/ no explanations or anything is a fool but someone rushing into a fight they aren’t even even slightly prepared to fight in ,is an even bigger fool.... I started out liking Willa, the free and friend,y personality, the multi colored hair ( not a rainbow 🌈 but several shades or blues, or pinks or purple together ) soo many things about her started off likable and definitely identifiable to me ... she seemed smart and sure and even clever with her skills and abilities but once she got together with Etienne, ggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrr Etie she started a)) trying to take him from Bri g classy refined and changing him to low rent and tacky almost ... like drinking a 10,000 bottle of champagne and drinking it from a dollar store glass.... Hey,using contractions and eating the best local cuisine at what looks like a tacky place is ok but honestly except for his looks and charm and manners ( at times ) I don’t feel like Willa truly appreciates Etienne and he sees too much thru “fated mates” glasses.... Sad thing is even when I’m not reading it this book works my nerves because the cover is soo bloody awful... I’m sorry Ms. Dold but I hate the cover.... the model may be a very attractive man irl but in this pic ? He looks like what you’d get if you merged a pic of Gene Simmons w/Jesus to me.... Love his eyes but between the angle of his shades and the thick looking beard and that mass of black hair get lost in the black background ,which makes his hair look ever longer and adds more volume.... Poor Darius looks like a high school senior just out his braces and noble Etienne looks like Gene Simmons younger brother or new tour manager.... Maybe one day I’ll finish but atm I can’t stand to look at it and every time I try to read it I want to slap Willa... Especially when she found out this amazing sexy kind and sweet gentleman was a vampire and spazzed out of control just because he was a vampire ,coz all her gifts and intuition had to be lying to her if he’s a Vamp. right ? I always want to slap idiots like her make a royal horses rear of themselves when they learn something like this about someone they “care” for and then have the nerve to question why they weren’t old sooner... Seriously? Love the writer, hate the story.... Etienne deserves better....
I have read many of the books by this author and she never disappoints. The characters are wonderful. The storylines are fantastic. I always finish her books wanting to read the next book of hers I can get my hands on.
Wanted way better for Etienne’s book. Do authors really believe an immature idiot makes for good reading. I’ve wanted to read Etienne’s story since we first met him. Sadly disappointing in that we get the witch blood aspect again but nothing is done with it. Total waste of an idea in this series and partly due to the immaturity factor of the heroine and the typical TSTL scenario we are subjected to. Warned by her physic friend to take care, knowing someone is after her, Willa pops out to get coffee, without a guard. She does at least hold her own. I just couldn’t get into these two as a couple and put this book down a few times before getting to the end at 89%. Really, we get immature 22 year old Willamina as a mate for Etienne, a 598 year old vampire who is gallant, cultured and extremely mature. A heroine who gives someone the stupid nickname of Etie, when they have a beautiful name like Etienne. At the beginning Willa touches Etienne’s backside without his permission. If a man smacked a woman on the backside like that, they would get face slapped. And I found it stupid that Willa doesn’t give Etienne grief for his rudeness, what woman wouldn’t ask what had given them an attitude earlier that day. Therefore Etienne would have found out his evil twin was in town. Read through Kindle Unlimited.

I'll start off saying I don't usually leave reviews, but I was so disappointed that I felt I had to.
Although I find Ms Dold a talented writer and enjoyed The Le Beau series, that she started and as yet not finished, I couldn't even finish Etienne's story. I enjoyed his character in the other books and was curious about him. This book did not do him justice.
With all the hype I was guess I was hoping for a better story line. Instead it was pages of drawn out scenes that seemed to me as filler just to make 'word count'.
I wish she would have stuck to The Le Beau series instead going off in tangents. Besides timeline seems off with Richie's book ahead of Etienne. IMO anyway (Didn't Richie meet his mate at The Gathering in Stephen's book?)
Sadly I returned this book due to having to flip more than 5 pages to get through what seemed to me as rambling at times.
OMG! I absolutely loved Etie and Willa, they were fabulous together.
What a romance, I loved how strong, independent and determined Willa was, she was most definitely baddass. I also loved how she challenged Etienne, they were a perfect match.
The vampires were a sexy bunch of guys, with a baddass group of witches.
Etienne, a man of honour, taste and good sense of character. I loved how the interacted with the other guys, even though he was their King, he treated them all as equals.
Nice to see Seth put in an appearance, even after the epic battle, I loved, have loved the relationship between the Vampires and the Beau Family.
I have fallen in love with each and every one of your couples, over the years, and Willa and Etie are no exception, but there were times their story got to me, brought a lump to my throat and my my eyes leak.... and I am usually a tough nut to crack - well done!!
While every book I've read by V. A. Dold can be read as a stand alone book, I think you'd enjoy this book more if you've read the others leading up to this book. They are all well worth the time and money!!
As King of the Vampires, Etienne Delacour is a mysterious yet surprisingly lonely man. He is quick to help his friends in their time of need and very protective of any woman and his family members. So the last thing the King of the Vampires expects is to fall head over heels for an unusual human woman. Little does he know there is more to this human than he can see.
Willamina Witt, affectionately known as Billie to her friends, is not your average woman. Nope, she has a gift - or a curse depending on how you look at - that often come in handy from time to time. We'll just call her gift her "Spidey senses" - she senses things and is a good predictor of when things are about to go bad. But even Willie's gift can't predict the effect that meeting the King of the Vampires is going to have on her life.
An instant attraction that quickly becomes a burning lust for both Etienne and Billie is beyond their comprehension when it becomes an even more binding love. Take the journey with them as they learn to trust and love again even in the midst of turmoil. After all what's a little sibling rivalry when twin brothers are both after you - one out to win your heart and the other out to use you as a pawn to draw in the brother he wishes to eradicate.
This the second in the series of the League of Guardians. This is the story of the king of the vampires, Etienne meeting his soul mate, Willa. Other than their meeting and him convincing her that she's his soul mate, 65% of the book is sex between Etienne and Willa - all sex and no story. Skimming the sex scenes, which were pretty boring and repetitive, made the book about a 3 hour read. It's such a shame because the premise of the book was more promising. The story of these vampires was different from any I've read. They were day walkers (how was interesting) who protected witches and humans as well. Their world consisted of other paranormals, all kinds of shifters, faeries, etc, that they lived in harmony with.
The last 16% of the book is the most exciting and drama filled. It almost made the book worth reading. It didn't, however the end of the story and the Prologue and 1st chapters of the next book makes me want to read the third book in the series. Hopefully, it will be more story and less boring sex.
3.5 stars I really was looking forward to reading Etienne’s story, but I was a little disappointed. First off I thought Willa was going to be a fun strong character but she seemed to be a little full of herself. There is being honest and believing in oneself, then there is someone who only wants to change people around them. She constantly tried to force Etienne into situations he wasn’t comfortable with, but I didn’t feel she would have been receptive to doing different things herself. I also could not stand reading Etie over and over again. That has got to be one of the worst nicknames I have ever heard. Etienne was all about allowing her to call him that even though he hated it and she did allow him to start calling her Willa instead of Billie, but she liked that nickname. The story was pretty good, I just didn’t like some of the characteristics of Willa. I have loved other books by this author but this one just didn’t do it for me.
I rarely read reviews before plunging into a book, but wanted to see if I needed to read Darius' story first. I did read Darius' story first, but there were a couple of reviews that made me hesitate wanting to read Etienne's story. I am glad I gave it a chance. I could not put this down. After reading the Le Beau series, my curiosity of Etienne grew. He was always there and seemed to have a good leash on his emotions. The family trusted him and I wanted to know his story. It was great to see all of him. Willa was just what Etienne needed to bring him balance. She was everything that he was not, but they complimented each other well. There were minor typos in the story, though. In Richie's book, Billie (Willa) went to her friend's wedding but that was not even mentioned in Etienne's story (or I just completely missed it at the beginning). Other than those things, I enjoyed the story and wish the series was completed so I could continue reading the next book.
Yay Etienne!!!! The hottest Vampire gets the coolest girl in the circle of Richie LeBeau's friends. Just that made it a grateful story. Add a twisted twin to the mix and you get a nice little page-turner. Ivan has assured I won't ask some lucky girl again "does he have a brother." I have read several V.A. Dold paranormal books and often wondered about the smarmy titles. Perhaps they are more tongue-in-cheek. I am sure someone out there will make fun of my wistful musings when it comes to the male characters in these books, but a girl has got to have hope that soul mates do exist, and these books do just that, offer hope. None of these characters are perfect, which is what makes them so relatable to a degree (especially the female characters). However, they all have a strength of character and resiliency that underscore their flaws. Eti and Willa make a marvelous couple. I am so hoping that there are more adventures involving this couple.
I love V.A. Dold’s books this one was no exception. I am loving this new series so much. Reading about the vampires finding their other halves is…ugh I can’t even put it into words. I loved reading about the wolves but reading about the vampires is so much better. I was so happy to finally read Etienne’s book. Willa is amazing. She is so different from Etienne but they make such a great match. I can’t wait to read how their story develops as the series goes on. Etienne had lost her love so long ago and thought he would never find another. Then he meets Willa. Willa had no idea that supernaterals existed. She has always had a sort of spidey sense. What she doesn’t know is that she is a witch. She is pulled into something very dangerous just by falling for Etienne. This story was so good. I can’t recommend this book and all of V.A. Dold’s book enough. I can’t wait for her next book.
Etienne Vampire who seem uncaring but he has a heart of gold He has given up on love until she came into her view.......... MINE. Billie/Willa a college student who has empathy but learn to control it with the help of witch friends. She felt him before she seen him who was he what did he want then as he came eye to eye with him and lost herself. The journey the take is not easy it's full of amazing characters, some very evil ones. The emotions run threw the pages, having you want more but yet dealing with what you just read.VA Dold you keep out doing yourself with each new book I waited to read Eotieene book because he was such a awesome character to me and i didnt know how you would tell his story but all I can say is you did a absolutely amazing job. Simply beautifully written. Looking forward to reading so much more
Etienne is king of the vampires but shares the crown with his identical twin Ivan. Ivan has control of Europe and Etienne has America. Willa is a witch with a quirky personality! She meets Etienne and immediately they bond. She takes the steps necessary to become a vampire without wasting any time. Other vampires are after her because Ivan wants to see his brother suffering and killed..he is crazy! He kidnaps Willa and the fight is on! Who will survive? Can Etienne save her when his brother has the same skills he possesses? Why has his brother always wanted to kill him? This installment has many surprises in store for Will and Etienne. There is never a dull moment for these two lovebirds…you will want to make sure you catch up on this spin-off series. I received this book as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary response.
Etienne is one of the most sensual characters that VA Dold has created and in his story she gave the vampire king his match with Willa Witt. There story is engaging and exciting from the time they meet. Willa has empathetic powers and feels Etienne is very special right away. She has a way with him that is humorous and entertaining throughout the story. Etienne does a little changing and those around him notice and admire his Vampire Queen....alas there is a vampire out to destroy Etienne and will use Willa to do so. This story is a must read and is one that is on my favorites list. Job well done VA Dold!
This was a good vampire romance! The story line kept my interested. Etienne and Willa were a cute couple and had great chemistry. I liked Willa in the beginning but she didn’t take anything seriously and it got annoying after a while. You’re in danger and are told so repeatedly and you think it’s ok to go off by yourself? I was done with her by this point like bad vamps come get her since she wants to be kidnapped so bad 😂. Etienne was a sweetheart even though I thought he could’ve been more firm with Willa with her being in danger.
Etienne is the baddest vamp 2 live that's why he's king and not 2 b messed with. It's fucked up that his brother would go through all those lengths 2 constantly 2 hurt and try 2 kill a family member that he's supposed 2 love not hate. Even though Wilma has powers, a witch and a no bars attitude but she was fast at saving those she loves and protect as she fills justified just like any of her subjects would do 4 her any x. It was awesome that she was able 2 meet the goddess. I sooooo can't wait 2 read more in the series hopefully soon.
I have been waiting on Etienne's story since he was first introduced back in the New Orleans Billionaire Wolf Shifter series. Oh man, it was so worth the wait. Etienne is so freaking sexy. I swear I felt my ovaries exploding 😊. Willa was his perfect match. She had no filter. And with an old world stuffy vampire, it was kind of a shock to his system 😂. I loved almost everything about this book. The only thing I didnt like was now it's over 😢. Oh well. On to the next. I can't wait to see whose story is next!!!
Enjoyable Vampire Tale. Etienne is such a delightful character, a typical immortal who has been around a very long time. I love his old world way of speaking. His manner of courting Willa, certainly has its ups and downs. Willa is also a great character, whose strength is tested at times. She certainly comes up to scratch when the chips are down. Lots of danger, humour, intrigue and romance in this storyline, keeps your interest from start to finish. I really loved this story and highly recommend it.
I just loved Etienne or "Etie" as Willa called him. It was so much fun watching the King of the Vampires find his "Muierimei" (soulmate) and fall instantly in love. They are so funny and cute together. Etienne was a very controlling vampire and Willa is a very independent woman and Etienne had to learn to let go of some of his control. They are a great couple together and both had a lot to learn from each other. Could not put the book down once I started reading. Can't wait for the next book!!
I was really excited to read about Etienne he is definitely my favorite of the vampires I just think he's so cool. I really enjoyed him and Willa together she is exactly what he needed and I found myself laughing at her ( when the vampires stuck their swords in the wood floor as a sign of respect 🤣🤣) She was done I really enjoyed reading their story I really did such a good.
This has been a long awaited book. I love that V.A. had told a gorgeous story of love. Wills is strong, loyal, woman and doesn't take prisoners. Etienne is a regal, strong, man that protects what's his! But the evil dangers are around every corner. Will they find the evil in time and each other? Beautifully written and can't wait for more.
Just as expected after reading all of V.A. Dold's previous books, this story was fantastic. The action is fast paced and keeps you reading to see what will come next. The main characters of the book, Etty and Willa are so realistically portrayed that you feel like you are reading about people you know. Do not miss reading this book
I waited desperately for the story and was not disappointed. I love these men who aren't perfect, but long to be everything to their mattress. I love the understanding of competing with ghosts and the lack of need to compete with bitter exes. Can't wait for the next one ... Technically I can wait, but only because I have to.
This was a great book ! Willa is vising New Orleans with her friends. Etienne was resigned to a life without a mate. Then he meets Willa, and all bets are off. After all this time, he finally found his mate. Loved the characters + the storytelling ! It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Wow I knew when Etienne 's story came up it would be a great story. Etienne captured my attention with his first appearance in le beau brothers series. He never saw Willa coming. I enjoyed this story immensely. I think there is a great t v series here between the le beau's and the league of guardians . Love this book and the series!
Etienne knows he needs to let go of his past in order to have a future. The future comes faster than he thinks though. Willa has rainbow hair and the personality to match. It makes the chemistry between the two of them explode with color. This book has absolutely every thing you want in a MUST READ book plus more..
I’ve read the Le Beau books 📚 all very good books . So I had to read Etienne ! If your a wolf shifter fan you need to read the Le Beau series . Etienne (a vampire- king ) is friends with the Le Beau family . King and Queen of the wolf shifters . Love V.A. Dold books .
Love that Etienne got his story. Since he was in all the Le Beau books you feel as if you already know him if you have read the series. He has been alone a long time and the women Willa is such a complete opposite you can't help but love them together.
I am so loving all the books written by this author! Having read the others, I am so glad this one focused on Etienne. In the other books I loved how Suave he was and it was Great to read about it and him more! This is book that I will recommend to others!
