I received an ARC of this book in an exchange for an honest review, but all thoughts and opinions are mine.

So, I just finished the second book of this series and I am sticking to 3 stars. I am not impressed so far.
I am a little bit disappointed. Alex needs constantly her boyfriend and as a daughter of a war goddess I would expect her to be more in control. It doesn't rump up the action, it continues in the same pattern as the previous one. Even at the end when the whole transformation happens, the part that should be, in my opinion, grand... no there is no such a thing.
Alex is a total killjoy. I would expect her to be more independent. I think she also neglects her godly powers; although this is the main reason why we all read this book. And we are in a little bit of darkness about her father. I mean she should have to check it, especially if she works for the council, she has access. The main character seems overly nonchalant. We sometimes get the feeling that she is finally awakening from her haze, but no we are soon disappointed.
With so many scenes which they include fighting, running, cursing I can't grasp the tension that it is supposed to exist especially when that events take place.
It is average, nothing striking. Furthermore, why her so dominant and supporting boyfriend leaves her at her birthday?
You know it misses some divinity. For me, though, it isn't a problem to keep reading it, it is the fact that it doesn't grasp my attention enough to just dive in.
I need it to be more intense.

NOTE: I seem to be a little confused with so many species of supernaturals, a guide maybe would be good. This might be my fault.

I recieved a free copy of this book after signing up for Antara's newsletter. After reading book 1 (and enjoying it) reading book 2 straight away felt natural as does the way the story flows from book 1 to book 2 naturally.
This book definitely ramps up the action with Alex's story, though it's not finished yet!
A thoroughly enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to the book in the series.

Alex has discovered why her magic is different, her mother was a goddess and, in a few days, when Alex turns 25, she’ll receive her full powers.
In the meantime, she is investigating some missing mages. As she looks further into the problem, she realizes that there is something sinister happening and gets her boyfriend, Kagan, to assist her.
There is again a nice little mystery in this book, some action, the growth of the relationship between Alex and Kagan. The book covers several new areas in the Magic Council offices adding some interesting characters.
This is a quick, easy, entertaining read. Some interesting magic, a dragon and a good story.
I believe Antara Mann is joining the list of authors that I will automatically read.

From other reviews you might get a different impression. My rating would be higher if I enjoyed detective novels....or maybe this story lies too close to home and the violence and rebellion creaping into America right now. Recently hired as a "detective", she is summoned by an owl at all hours of the day and night to combat fiends, which is definitely not in her duties, or solve the case of the disappearing mages. Sure, let the newbie solve all the difficult cases, like right now! I can see why Alexandra is tearing her hair out.

Alexandra Shaw is still recognizing and training her half-goddess powers with her boyfriend, Kagan, who is determined to help her protect herself. Every girl wants a guy like him: calms her down, respects her abilities, and is always there for her. Frankly, I did not see the attraction at first, mainly because everyone is a suspect in a mystery novel. Since her powers are really slow to get going (she has to wake the goddess up all the time!) she comes to depend upon Kagan and her necklace from another goddess. This makes her vulnerable even as her powers wax. What makes this worse is that the equivalent of Lucifer's own trusted circle has a demon attempting to open the gates of hell...using her. Her search for the disappearing mages is actually a search for the demon she most fears.

What is amazing: the magic system is structured and obviously well-developed. The world is consistent, and the mystery is understandable to average humans.

What is not: Alexandra repeats a lot in her mind and talks to herself like the goddess is a separate being. For now it is. But I hate it when shifters are described this way when they are not supposed to be a person possessed by another. Seeing Alexandra as a possessed person here is much more appropriate. I just have to grit my teeth and read through it until she reaches 25 and takes on her heritage. Yow.

‘Infernal Curse’ book two in Antara Mann’s urban fantasy The Half-Goddess Chronicles series. This continues on from ‘Bound by Sorcery’.

Fresh from ending Garrett and his Inferni ally’s plans, Alex must learn to control her Goddess powers if she is to survive the next time Garrett decides to take her. But being a Half-Goddess isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. She isn’t aloud to be part of the Heaven clan as she is only a half goddess and working at the Magic Council as an investigation has her isolated and alone. Alex’s work load is pilling up, Mages are going missing and Demons and Vampires are attacking in large groups. Does this have something to do with Garrett or is there another evil lurking in the shadows.

Where do I start, I was a little unsure if I was going to continue this series as I found a few characters from the first book to be immature. But I am glad that I did. Alex’s character has grown into her role as a half-goddess working as an investigator for the Magic Council. Although Alex is a half-goddess she doesn’t think she is above the people she works with or for. At times I did think a few situations could have come out differently if she had asked for help sooner, but she did well with what she knew and had to work with.

Kagan continues to take a piece of my heart with each and every interaction that he and Alex have. He may be this big might deal of a Fae, but he is down to earth, he is humble, honest and oh so swoon worthy.

Things between Kagan and Alex are steamy up, and I can’t wait to see where their relationship goes in the up coming books.

This book will have you on the edge of your seat with anticipation of knowing what is going to happen next. Be prepared to be shocked and spell bound as this is a ride that you are not going to want to get off of.

I loved this book! It's even better than the first one. Alexandra is being trained by her fey boyfriend Kagan in an effort to prepare her for the coming war between good and evil. The suspense and mystery keeps the reader really involved. I can't recommend this book highly enough.

This is Book 2 in the series and continues Alex's journey as she learns about her magic and fights against those who are trying to use magic to open the gates of hell.
This story is action-packed and magically stuffed. The author has created some incredible characters who create amazing situations. Fallen Archangels are trying to take over the world, and one girl with some stellar powers is trying to stop this with the some help from her friends. It's a bit Lara Croft/Harry Potter; I LOVE IT!!
Can't wait for book 3 now.
Highly recommend!

Great storyline, but hard for me to read.

I absolutely love the storyline of the book. Plot and character development were also amazing. What made it difficult for me is that all of the characters speech is very formal. It reminds me of how you would speak to your boss, or how you would write a book report. Not so much how you would speak with someone you are close to, your best friend, guardian who raised you, significant other, etc. It made the conversations seem very cold, clinical and distant and held me back from really getting into the story.

The other thing is the FMC says or thinks "Umm" a lot, which I personally found frustrating.

Half-goddess Alexandra Shaw is only days away from attaining her full goddess status, but things are not looking good. Demonic and vampire incidents are on the rise, and her nemesis is still after her—only, now, it’s her magic he wants. Can she and her sidekick, the fae Kagan Griffith prevail?

Read Infernal Curse by Antara Mann and find out. Book two of the Half-Goddess Chronicles picks up where book one left off, and keeps the magic flowing. Exciting from beginning to end. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I give it four and a half stars.

Interesting

I have mostly been enjoying this series. The only problem I have with it is that the main character seems overly nonchalant about things. She was manipulated for years by her mentor, but oh well, he meant well. She is lied to by her boyfriend, but oh well, he is just trying to protect her. She never gets angry appropriately with her loved ones. She comes across carefree when she should have angst, in my opinion.

Antara has continued this series in a way that kept me sitting on the edge of my seat.
The continuation of the saga of Alex and Kagan will allow everyone to get to know them, if you haven’t read the first installment, and continue on in their relationship along with the maturing of Alex in her powers.
The twists and turns add to the suspense of this story. This story is awesome. Not a quick read. I highly recommend this book along with its prequel.

This book picks up right after the 1st one ends. And I love that. It makes me crazy when a book skips years ahead. This one is like just a couple weeks later. And just as Alex thinks she can rest for a minute before her birthday every thing goes to hell again! Antara's writing has grown on me and I hope to read her other works too! She is very detailed in her story telling and leaves you ready for more!

What a pace!!!

This book is high on action, mystery, demons & magic. We see a lot more of Kagan and a lot less of Alex's Ex. The story has a very solid plot and an amazing grip. From the 1st page you are engaged and you still want more at the end of the story.

Highly recommended for all fans of paranormal thrillers.

Infernal Curse, book 2 of Antara Mann's Half-Goddess Chronicles, really ramps up the action! Once again, a race for the magic apocalypse is on and Alex and Kagan must pull out all of their bag of tricks if they have any hope of stopping it. Three of the world's best mages have disappeared. Who will be next? I can't wait to see what trials the next story brings!

Pretty good book. I like the main character, but not too sure about her backup men. I’ll have to see how they pain out. Lot’s of antagonist, and angst. Few unresolved conflict, but doesn’t feel like cliff hangers to me, have to see.

A very good read. The only reason I gave it a 4* rather a 5* was because in my opinion there was too much emotionalism between Alex and Kegan. Overall the plot was very well written and any futher books in the series would be most welcomed.

Nice twist

I think I like the way Alex's magic came in, it's a twist to usual magic stories.
I love the Stone dragon and I'm looking forward to how the story will continue with the way this book ended.

BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES!!!
Hell hath no fury! A throng of startling circumstances and a bevy of surprising events blast those churning emotions forward in this thrilling storyline and gripping plot. When hard decisions have to be made, put on your stomping boots and and get to kickin'. You are not going to believe how this installment plays out. Perilous drama, thrilling suspense and speculation along with all that tension and intrigue blaze all of those jagged pieces together smoothly. Throw in a little danger and you have one block busting, nailbiting delight. The characters are genuine, tangible and realistic with such depth and qualities that blend and flow fluidly. Fantastic job Antara, thanks for sharing this little treasure with us.
