4 Racing Stars Review by Lisa Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog
In the sixth installment of the Rocking Racers, Breaking Free by Megan Lowe, we finally get the story of Parker!!! Don't worry you will get to catch up on all the previous racers we have grown to love also. One of the aspects that I just loved about this story is the multiple point-of-views, even the ones I wasn't expecting that just made the "feels" of this story that much more. My heart reached out to all of them.
Even though at times I wanted to slap these characters and ask them "what are you thinking?!!!!" I chalked that up to great writing that evoked strong feeling while reading. Along with the story line of "self" feelings that everyone deals with at times.
Parker and Halliday grew up together, did everything together until one night things changed, feelings changed and then poof, a life changing choice is made.
Ashton loves Parker and believes he is the one who got away, until a second chance happens and she won't let him get away again.
Halliday is back after years being away. But what she comes home to isn't what she was expecting.
Parker who sternly believes in the family curse and karma, doesn't ever want to bring anyone into his cursed life. Now he has not one but two women vying for his attention, but will his curse end up leaving him lonely?
Great story line, with a lot of "stuff" inside that I don't want to give away. Well written, the story just runs so smoothly that the next thing you know its over (insert sad face now).

This is book 6 in the Rocking Racers series and it’s on the long-awaited Ryan man we’ve wanted to get our hands on. While each book can be read as a standalone, reading the other books before you read Parker’s story may connect you more to the way he is and why. Don’t get me wrong you can read just his book and enjoy the story, but who doesn’t want to read the full series to get the scoop on these racers? Is he really cursed or is he too blinded by the past luck? Parker oh Parker how secretive you really are! We truly did not know much about you as we thought. Mmm that’s OK cause you redeemed yourself in my book by the girl you selected in the end. Now if you selected the other one you would have broke many hearts I’m sure as it was definitely the wrong girl. Maybe right girl for the time period of your life though. Your heart truly breaks a few times reading this story, but you know who helps heal it? Christian and the racer clan. We meet Halliday and Ashton (more than what we know if you read the other books) and Parker needs to decide if he will Break Free and be happy or if he will settle and remain blah. Best way I could state this without saying any spoilers. I seriously wanted to shake someone with some comments made. It was shocking and heartbreaking. I will say that my heart is free though with how this ended. You fall in love with each set of characters and you truly don’t want this series to end. Would love to get a spin-off of the kids as they are older! This way we get to continue to see the characters we fell in love with and see how far the kids came.
Breaking Free by Megan Lowe “An Aussie love story, 4 stars”
I loved the idea of Parker and Halliday’s story. Two old friends who after years apart reconnect and fall in love. There was only one part of the story that I didn’t really care for that stopped it from being a 5 star for me and that was the love triangle in the beginning. I got a kick out of all the Aussie terminology though. Parker and Halliday grew up as best friends and were in love with each other without the other knowing it. Then one night it came to head. Then Halliday took off never to be seen for years. Well now she’s back and Parker doesn’t know how to handle it. Both of the only women he’s ever cared for are wanting a chance with him and he doesn’t know what to do about it. Halliday left before Parker could leave her. But now she’s home to correct her wrongs and face her mistakes head on. What she didn’t expect was another woman making a move on Parker. Will she let the other woman have him or will she fight for him? And what about Parker’s son, where does he fall into all of this? I love how Halliday stepped up for Parker’s son and was willing to just be an honorary aunt. She loved him instantly and completely. She loved Parker enough to let him go as long as it meant he was happy. I really did enjoy these two and think you may as well. Plot-4/5 Characters-4/5 Heat-5/5 Writing style-4/5 Overall-4/5
This is the sixth book in the Rocking Racers series, and for anything to make any sense you should read the previous books before this. We have heard all about the curse that the Ryan men seem to have, but the others overcame the fear and let love guide the way.. but the others hadn't already lost the one they loved, not like Parker has. For Parker his life now is very different from his past, now he works the diner and takes care of his son, Chris. Parker tried to have relationships before and knows all to well how the curse works, so he avoids any type of relationship, and friends with benefits is his thing. When the first love that broke Parker's heart comes back to town to stay, can he avoid the feelings she stirs? What happens when he suddenly has two women from his past vying for him? Will Parker let the fear of the curse keep him from moving forward in his life? Which woman will he pick?
This was a really good story, and I don't normally like the love triangle trope, but this was written very well. With the push and pull drama, I was really glad it was nothing over the top. Add in some really good sexy time scenes, and some funny side characters, and you get a very entertaining story. I give this 4 stars.
I am seriously so hooked on this series and I couldn’t be happier to have found this author. The entire Ryan Racing family’s as made me fall in love with them and Parker’s story is no different... Although it is possible that Chris stole the show a time or two. This is a book about finding love when you weren’t looking, second chances, letting go of curses and proving love can survive heartbreak.
Parker and Halliday have been best friends since birth and nothing will separate them. Neither is sure when the relationship moved past friends but the night of the formal is the night everything changes....
Years later, Parker is doing his best raising his son alone and is finally starting to think about letting a woman in. He thinks he had a woman in his sights when Halliday returns and brings all his buried feelings with her.
Now they have to work against their past and current situations to see if they can have a future. But broken hearts, old curses and current relationships stand in their way. Will they be able to find their way back to each other before it is to late?
I highly recommend that you check out this book ASAP, you will not regret it!
Wow!! Just Wow!! This series just keeps getting better and better and that’s hard to believe as I have loved every single one of these books so hard!!! And what?!?!?! Parker and that dirty little secret that you have been hiding!! Gimme some more of that hot stuff!!! Blew my socks off with that!! These Ryan men I need them in my life! The triangle that was so obvious with Parker, Ashton and Halliday was so heartbreaking. But when it’s meant to be it’s meant to be and there is nothing you can do to change that and someone is really going to be heartbroken. And Christian love his little heart! I was so excited we got to see a lot more of him in this book. I think he is one of my favorite children in a book. He will have you laughing and crying in this book and I really want him to have a book too!! I actually don’t want this series to ever end!! I highly highly recommend this book and this series!!! - By Tina
Parker has given up on the thoughts of love and relationships as the family curse may have been broken for his brothers but in his case it is just too strong. He will focus all his love on ensuring that his son Christian is happy and healthy.
Halliday and Parker were best friends as children which turned to love until the night that changed everything. She has been overseas for years, but she has returned home to try and reclaim the boy she loved. The only problem is that she isn’t the only ex-flame of Parker’s that wants a second chance as Ashton is determined to win him back as well.
Will Parker be willing to let love in his life and which one is the right one for him and Christian?
This is a wonderful story of second chances which is full of humor and emotion. I loved Christian and he is definitely a scene stealer. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

This is the first book in the series I've read and I believe can be read as a standalone, although best to read the other books first to get an idea of the characters.
Either way, a lovely second chance romance (my favourite genre). A nice smooth enjoyable ride.
Halliday and Parker were best friends growing up. They did everything together. They even went to formal together. That night changed everything, they shared something but the choices afterwards would shape their future. They both live their lives but when Halliday comes home, what will Parker’s reaction be? Can he forgive and forget? Will they get a second chance?
Another 5 star read by Megan Lowe! I have been waiting for Parker's story since I first started this series, he intrigued me from the start and I couldn't wait to dive into his past! I can honestly say that I was not disappointed by his story at all, I loved every second of it!!
This is a book and series I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for their next romance read!
This is the first book by Megan I have read. While this book is the sixth book in the series it can be read as a standalone. This book was an emotional rollercoaster for sure. Parker Ryan believes there is a curse on the females of his family. He has had his fair share of heart ache related to women but after the mother of his son dies he vows to himself not to get involved with another woman again. Seven years later he has not one but two women who want to be a part of his and his son’s life. Both are women from his past. One his first love and the other the second woman he ever let into his life. Can he let himself try again? Can he allow himself to love again? He fears how he will feel if he loses someone he lets in. It crushed him to lose his first love. Now he doesn’t only have himself to think of either. Ashton is part of the it crowd and wants Parker. She gets what she wants. Halliday regrets leaving the way she did all those years ago. She has come back and wants to try again. If she can’t something more with Parker she will take friendship. They have both changed so much in those twelve years. Can they find a way back to each other. Will Parker’s fear keep him from ever finding a happy ever after with anyone? I felt for Halliday and Parker. I didn’t like Ashton at all. Parker and Halliday were always meant to be together. They needed that time apart though to grow and experiences things so they could be together later. While I haven’t read any of the other books in this series I can’t wait to after reading this book. I have put them on my tbr list. I can’t say enough about this book. I highly recommend it.
FINALLY! Breaking Free gives us Parker & that sweet tiny human, Chris' story, which needed to be told. And I added the tiny human, because honestly, he stole the show for me in Breaking the Cycle (Book 1), and he stole the show in Breaking Free, so I must put my request in for his own book someday, Ms. Lowe! (hint hint) Parker has always been the brother with the most fear of relationships, so when a blast from his past shows up, all kinds of chaos ensues. But then, there's also a second woman in the picture from his past, so I was surprised that he wasn't in the corner in the fetal position to be honest. So now we have a giant love triangle, which made me most frustrated, and I wanted to pull my hair out. Not to mention, I was all kinds of emotional as well with the triangle that made up Parker, Halliday, and Ashton. Luckily, my favorite tiny human made me happy, not to mention the rest of the secondaries aka the family, added in humor to keep me from losing it. The talented Megan Lowe has me very addicted to her writing, and I hope she keeps writing this series. Anyway, this was a fantastic story that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
This man jumps from his sex buddy - who was a troll - straight to his “friend”. His “I don’t do relationships” might have been believable if it hadn’t been for the troll. Knowing the troll didn’t care about his son (boarding school) and that seeing her in his bed naked wasn’t an issue for Parker took him down a few points in the parent department.
I hate that not one person reminded him HIS life wasn’t a guarantee either
All in all it was ok but I expected more from Parker
Parker and Halliday had a lot to overcome. This second chance romance definitely had it's ups and downs which made for a story that kept me turning the pages. Hanging out with the Ryan Racing crew doesn't allow for a dull moment. I can't wait for the next book.
