Three Thrilling Sean Kruger Novels In One Box Set!THE FUGITIVE'S TRAILIn the lobby of a prestigious Wall Street investment firm, one man is dead and another seriously injured. The man accused of the crime is now a fugitive. When the Director of the FBI personally orders Special Agent Sean Kruger to New York City to find the fugitive, Kruger questions the reason. Told to shut up and do his job, he starts looking into the case. What he finds is troubling. Eye-witness accounts seem contrived with little variance between individual testimonies. The more he hears, the more he feels someone is manipulating the story.
As the investigation unfolds, he discovers the only information known about the fugitive is a HR file from a former employer. Public records of the man do not exist.
The fugitive is a ghost. A ghost who has disappeared.
THE ASSASSIN'S TRAILA serial killer is on the loose in the Washington, DC area. Two men are dead and the FBI has called in Profiler Special Agent Sean Kruger. Now in the twilight of his career, Kruger and longtime girlfriend, Stephanie, have decided to marry. Tired of the bureaucracy and politics of the job, he wants no part of the investigation.
But when the assassin strikes close to home, it becomes personal and he turns to JR Diminski, the computer genius from The Fugitive's Trail, for help. To protect his new marriage he will put his life in danger as he pursues the assassin. An assassin whose ultimate goal is an attack in the center of the United States. An attack that could result in more civilian casualties than 9/11.
THE IMPOSTER'S TRAILOver the Indian Ocean, a Malaysia Airlines jumbo jet drops from radar. Three hundred twenty-seven souls disappear with it; a woman in Rockford, Illinois is brutally murdered. Unrelated news events? Retired FBI agent Sean Kruger doesn’t think so. He suspects it’s the work of serial killer Randolph Bishop.
Now a college professor, Kruger has tried to live with the mistake he made while investigating Bishop six years earlier. It looks as though the only man to elude him, in his twenty-five-year tenure with the FBI, has returned to seek vengeance on those who forced the man to flee the country. With his family in danger, Kruger comes out of retirement to find Bishop’s trail. A trail that leads Sean to question his own humanity.

Sometimes you start reading a book without expectations. Once you of his series, it's just impossible to stop. You're intrigued by the suspense and the way the characters interact with the situation s. Just don't miss it.
I really liked this box set. The stories follow one right after the other.
The 1st story introduced J.R. who will be a main recurring character in the following sequels. The story has Sean looking for JR who was thought to be a fugitive, but was really caught up in a conspiracy. Sean felt right from the get-go that JR was innocent and he started looking into the background of the individuals who went at the forefront of the scheme. With J.R's assistance, he was able to clear this case.
The 2nd story has the same main characters and is more of a terrorism action story. The assassinations that brought Sean in the case were really a diversion to the real purpose of the Assassin's activity. Again with J.R.'s help, Sean is able to close this case with a wild ending.
The 3rd story refers to the one that got away. Sean has retired (?) from the FBI and married Stephanie, his neighbor in his Condo, who has been involved in the previous two stories. At the request of the President, Sean becomes involved with a select organization established to track down Domestic Terrorist. In this pursuit, he comes back to his foe, Randolph, who evaded him in a prior case. Randolph is acting as a conspirator with a foreign adversary, and has assumed the identity of a person wwho has been living in isolation. Once he killed him, he took over his identity and sold his holdings in an IT Company in addition to selling the person's estate once he became aware that Sean was on to him. With many escapades and additional murders, Sean finally meets up to even the score. The ending was well written and you really need to read it to get the full scope.
The stories are excellent and highly recommend them
I loved this series; it’s full of mystery and suspense. I had to listen to all three at the once, and I couldn’t stop! Sean Kruger goes from an excellent agent to the best just doing what he does best. The writing is an apparent show of talent; characters are well developed, and the past and circumstances of each character are well explained. The back stories of each victim clearly understood, allowing readers to feel completely for each person without having any questions interrupt the flow of the story. T
The Sean Kruger Series is an easy, and smooth read/listen, making it a huge 4-star book to me.
Absolutely brilliant!!! Author and narrator a dazzling duo! In Book #1, The Fugitive's Trail, phenomenal author J.C. Fields take us on an exciting adventure as seasoned and likeable FBI agent Sean Kruger is on the track of a murderer, leaving in his path many surprises, learning how far decadent and greedy businessmen will go to great lengths to get what they want, pointing a finger at close colleagues, throwing them under the bus. I have found yet another excellent narrator with the superb Paul McSorely. In Book #2, The Assassin's Trail, the series continues with the same thrilling suspense. In Book 3, The Imposter's Trail, Kruger's usual charming demeanor is peppered with skilled experience in this razor-sharp agent's chase around the country, seeking the whereabouts of a serial killer. His loving and committed relationship with his wife shine through. I am usually wary of box sets, however, these three changed my mind. All books delivered what I consider the best, each one with exhilarating exploits and surprises throughout. I am looking forward to the last one in this series, The Cold Trail. I anxiously look forward to more Sean Kruger escapades, so keep writing, J.C. Fields and please keep narrator Paul J. McSorely. Such a great deal from Audible. For Kruger fans as well as first-timers, please don't miss this opportunity. I can't stress this enough - so very highly recommended, I just can't stand it! 👀😉👀
This set of the first three Sean Kruger novels is a delight - especially if you can catch it when it's on sale for $.99! I had read it through once before and a second read was just as good. Kruger 's a veteran agent: the FB I has been his life after his son was born and his wife deserted them. The guy is loved and respected by almost everyone - except the incompetent. With them it's a mutual dislike.
He meets his eventual wife in volume one, saving her from a mugging and they hit it off - both had been married to their jobs and are drawn to one another. Then there's the next major character - JR (NOT HIS REAL NAME). The unraveling of his identity takes up a good chunk of volume 1. he and Kruger eventually team up, as much for their stand that doing right is more important than doing it right.
There are some minor issues with the copy I had. A few grammatical errors, some mixed tenses in a sentence or two, but they are easy to overlook. There were a couple of copy and paste moments - Fields tends to describe greying of men's hair almost identically in a couple of places. But more to the point, I found he work as intricate as Tom Clancy in places.
Having the first three volumes in one makes this into essentially one long storh, done well and done right.
I can't praise these books enough. These are books 1-3 in a series of 9. Sean Kruger, FBI agent, is a very real a likeable character. In fact, all the characters and the stories are so well written and believable that I was instantly hooked. They are not the usual police procedural type of book, neither do they contain gory details of terrible crimes; non of the cliches that so often appear in crime novels. Sean is more like a normal person, popular with everyone - except the criminals he causes problems for! His friends and colleagues are equally real and easy to identify with. Even if thrillers, crime FBI etc are not usually your thing, I don't see how anyone can not be instantly taken by these brilliant books
3 different stories but the author’s ‘finger prints’ are all there. What do you get when you have a reluctant (but brilliant) ‘hero’ working within a flawed, but believably so, bureaucracy and up against very complex evildoers with inordinately complex plans. You get Sean Kruger and his team of experts who are all amazing in their own rights. Blend these, as Mr Fields does so well, and you have a wild ride thru law enforcement on a grand scale. All this would be moot without a writing style that brings the reader to the edge of its seat so effortlessly and then leaves you there. Like action on nearly every page? Like heroes who have all human frailties? Like a story that really lets you escape to the book? Get these - they are so good.
I just finished the first four books in the Sean Kruger series, and I can’t wait to read the rest! The story line kept my interest to the point I didn’t want to go to bed before I’d finished the book. The editing is good, not perfect, but the small mistakes in no way took away my enjoyment of the books.
Sean Kruger is a good guy… an excellent FBI agent who excels in his work profiling and tracking down killers. And his colleagues are also men who take pride in doing the right thing. I’m so pleased to read a captivating book without the authors feeling the necessity to drop the F bomb every page.
Thank you, Mr. Fields, for your good books! Keep writing!
I hadn't read J.C. Field! I loved it! Great storylines and well developed Characters. Narrator did an exceptional job. Character voices were easily distinguishable and maintained throughout. There several foreign words that were well pronounced like a native speaker. Some descriptions of crime scenes let listener know how bad it was without being uncomfortably graphic. Awesome job!!!
Meh...potentially good plot lines but filled with characters so hyper skilled at what they do you can't believe them. Add that there are some pretty fanciful IT capabilities and one super human tech guy and well the plot starts to become tiring. Also, some pretty overused law enforcement clichés. Really over done.
I really enjoyed this book. I had read the first book before so I knew I was going to like it. Ended up starting over with the first book and reading all three in a row. They absolutely have to be read in order, but once you know the cast of characters, you gotta love them. Lots of action, lots of friendship and some very interesting conflict.
A review shouldn’t involve politics but this series “calls a spade a spade and in my view aligns well with the world we live in. Sad. Thanks for an interesting read, which I wish was not fictional.
Really enjoyed this series. Books 1 & 2 were really good. The 3rd book became a little repetitive as far as the dialogue goes. All in all, a pretty good police/ FBI and other enforcement procedural with characters that are interesting and likable.
I really enjoy this series. It's intriguing, great characters, twists that keep you reading. It's also realistic. There's a lot of greed, murder, coruption and manipulation. There's also a nice romance starting. It's a clean read, an enjoyable read.
I get a lot of books free or for $0.99, most are worth what I paid for them. Not this series. Well written and captivating, it pulls you along and all you can do is enjoy the ride.
Excellent stories marred by quite a few horrendous misspellings of words (e.g., humorous instead of humerus). Also simple typos. Any proofreader would easily catch the errors.
J.C. Fields is a gifted author. Strong characters, excellent story and really terrifying bad guys. I have purchased the remaining books in this series and look forward to sharing the journey.
Really well written stories. Plenty of action, suspense, and good old detective work. You could never tell where the plot wood go. A real page turner and unexpected ending. Great read.
Sean Kruger is a very special agent for the FBI. From book one to book 3 is nonstop crisis. When you start reading, you will be hooked trying to see what happens next. Excellent writing J.C. Fields.
In Sean Kruger, J.C Fields has created a character that is easy to root for. Kruger and his team are relentless in their pursuit of bad people who wish to do harm. The stories are quick moving and engaging. Fields is a master story teller
Good series about an FBI agent who always wants to do things the way they should be done. It’s got plenty of action and is hard to put down. I recommend this boxed set.
