Rate this book
Aquatic turtles are available to collectors and breeders in more than 20 different species. This guide offers sound advice on the maintenance and care of all of them. Titles in this series present basic information on reptiles plus specific instructions for their care. Each book opens with a description of the animal as it exists in its natural habitat, then continues with information on its life cycle and distribution in nature. Readers then get advice on selecting a good specimen, determining sex, and providing proper housing, feeding, and health care. Books are heavily illustrated with instructive color photos. This helped me a lot with knowing stuff about my turtle. I have a painter and this book helped me know what they like to eat, about basking, caging, lighting, and more. It talked about different turtles diets. Painted and Map turtles are more carnivores than other turtles. I mostly read this book so I could learn stuff I didn't know about Painted and Map turtles. I really like how in this book it talks about some disease and sickness that your turtles can get and how to prevent it, and what causes it. Map turtles shells decay fast if you don't clean their tank at least once a week. This book truly helped me know more about my turtles and how to take better care of them. I recommend this book to anyone who has a slider, cooter, painted, or map turtle and want to know how to properly take care of them, what to feed them, and how to keep them healthy.
