Her attitude is less than merry and bright…

Melanie Harper and Christmas do not see eye to eye. While most people celebrate and look forward to the holidays, it's something she has come to dread. After all, with a name like that, you're pretty much guaranteed to be surrounded by people who love Christmas!

He sees it as the most wonderful time of the year…

Josiah Stone is all about peace on earth and goodwill toward man. Maybe it's because he's the sheriff of a town named after a beloved Christmas song, but that doesn't make it any less true. Christmas is his favorite time of year and living in Silver Bell Falls where everyone feels the same and celebrates it nearly year-round only adds to his festive outlook on life.

Can a white Christmas change everything?

When Melanie is forced to stay in Silver Bell Falls during the actual holiday season, she's less than thrilled. But after meeting the sexy sheriff she finds that there is something to be said about the magic of Christmas.

Christmas in Silver Bell Falls is the first book in the Silver Bell Falls series by Samantha Chase. This is my very first book by this author. I picked it up quite awhile ago when it was on sale. This is a super sweet, holiday romance between a heroine who avoids all things Christmas related and a hero who loves all things Christmas related!

Melanie Harper is a romance author who lives in Raleigh, North Carolina. When her publisher insists her next book be a Christmas romance, she becomes blocked. Because Melanie does not do Christmas...at all!

“If something bad was going to happen, it happened around Christmas.”

Josiah Stone is the sheriff of Silver Bell Falls. He loves his little town that is obsessed with all things Christmas. As is Josiah. He loves Christmas and everything it represents.

When Melanie is notified that she has inherited a cabin in Silver Bell Falls from a grandmother she had no relationship with, one that hadn’t wanted anything to do with her, she is confused and angry. But there is one stipulation to the will. She must live in the house for three months before she can sell it. Against her better judgment, she heads to Silver Bell Falls. Who knows. Maybe the change of scenery will help her to overcome her writer’s block!

We’ll just say that Melanie and Josiah’s first meeting was quite memorable. They’ll never forget it, that’s for sure! They both realized, though, pretty much immediately, that there was a connection between them. Not just sparks flying, so much more than that. The conversation just flowed. They never ran out of things to talk about. They felt comfortable with each other. There was just one big difference! The way they felt about Christmas!

Josiah sees this as a challenge. He has three months to show Melanie how wonderful Christmas can be. As their feelings for each other grow, will the magic of Christmas help Melanie to fall in love with it all over again? Or will she return to Raleigh at the end of her three months, leaving Josiah and the town that loves Christmas behind.

This was a super sweet story. I enjoyed getting to know these two. I do want to let you know that the steamy scenes in this are fade to black. You know what they’re going to do but it’s not on page. I didn’t realize until I was done that this couple got a second book, book three in the series, A Very Married Christmas. It’s a novella but now I need to know what comes next for this couple. So on I go to find out what the future holds for Josiah and Melanie.

Christmas in Silver Bell Falls is a lovely Christmas love story full of snowy cheer!

This book has:
A female grinch-y writer
An "evil" grandmother leaving her granddaughter a property near Canada
Snow (it's near Canada, obviously there would be snow)
A Christmas obsessed town
A sexy hunk
A love story
Some conflict
HEA

I love Samantha Chase's writing ever since I discovered her a few years back. She has a smooth writing style that is easy to read and easy to get lost in. I found myself devouring this book in one sitting (when I finally had time to sit down and read it).

This book follows the typical Hallmark-style romance story that is seen throughout the holiday romance subgenre. A grinch-y person gets forced to a cute town, meets someone who is Christmas-y, falls in love, they have some source of conflict, discover something personal and share bad stories and then everyone has Christmas cheer. If you're looking for a book that breaks the mold, this book isn't for you. I didn't mind it at all since I want to be in a Christmas-y mood (and I've been watching way too many romantic Christmas movies).

In this book, Melanie's Grandmother who didn't like her at all, left her a cabin up near Canada in Silver Bell Falls. Melanie is a writer and is having major writers block since she has to write about Christmas (and when you hear all about her past, you'll understand why she's a bit of a grinch). When she gets there, Josiah is in her house! Turns out he knew her Grandmother and the little incident is brushed off (with some pizza, of course). The two grow close to each other, learn some deep dark secrets and a motive they weren't aware of, and develop Christmas cheer. Yay!

It's a cute book and it's a short read. It clocked in just over 140 pages so it wasn't all that hard to read. Josiah and Melanie are also a cute couple (even if their romance developed very quickly - it's definitely not a slow burn book). I'd like to read more in this series whether it's full of merry holiday cheer or not.

I didn't relate to the character all that much. Either way, I love happily ever after books like these. They make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Three out of five stars.

I found this book for free via Bookbub.

Cliche, but so much fun! A quick cheery Christmas read. I will need more Christmas romance from Samantha Chase.
Don't we wish our dead grandmothers left us a cozy cabin in a quaint village? 🎄🎅

First in the series with romance between sexy town sheriff Josiah and new in town lady, Melanie.

Sweet holiday story

This was a cute and short holiday story. It was a Christmas reset for a family who had bad luck happen for several years around the holiday time. But this year, with a change of scenery from North Carolina to Silver Bells NY, this holiday season promises to bring a happily ever after as well as healing.

A cute, quick Christmas read. I liked how the heroine didn’t love Christmas and was kind of a Scrooge.

But how did everyone not get sick of Silver Bells playing over the town’s speaker system nonstop YEAR ROUND? 🤯

This is a cute hallmark-esque romance with a big city girl coming to a small town. She meets the small town sheriff and he convinces her that Christmas is worth celebrating.

Fun and low angst. Fade to black.

Thankfully, there is no third act breakup... tho there is an almost breakuo.

No OM/OW.

Tho her grandma can go jump in a lake. That letter at the end!? Pure emotional manipulation, especially considering it was only sent because she gave up the cabin. Yeah, yeah, it was sweet and all. But it kind of was mean because it assumes that it's too late.

Overall, this was a cute story. Melanie absolutely hates c
Christmas and is shocked and dismayed when her estranged grandmother leaves her a cabin in the small town of Silver Bell Falls. A town which happens to celebrate Christmas all year long. The setting was great, I could easily picture the small cabin nestled in the snow.

While the story was cute, I just had a hard time connecting to it. The H/h’s romance moved along pretty quickly, they start sleeping together within a short time and that looses a lot of the chemistry for me. I did appreciate that it was all basically closed door, but I would have liked to see them really fall in love first. I’m pretty “old fashioned” I guess.

It was a cute story, the characters were likable and I did like the setting.

Content (R): Sketchy Clean (fade-to-black/closed door intimacy, a handful of times- nothing graphic), mild innuendo, moderate language (mainly H, D - not a LOT, but quite a few scattered throughout), no violence

This was my first book by this author. I really enjoyed it. The plot was interesting enough to keep me interested. I liked how Melanie tried to avoid everything Christmas but ends up in a place where it’s Christmas all year round 😂. Josiah was great, I loved how he wanted to make special memories for her, how he fell for her instantly. I also loved his Tiny home, it was so awesome to see that in a book.
The characters were great I loved the bond Melanie has with her dad after everything they’ve been through.
How the residents of Silver Bells Fall don’t go stark raving bonkers with that song playing all the time is beyond me, but it made me chuckle every time Melanie heard them, I felt her rolling her eyes. 😂

I enjoyed this short little Christmas read. It was your typical plotline for a Christmas novel, but it had some cute moments and redemption for someone who DID NOT like Christmas. I still don't know why Josiah didn't know about her grandmother being dead when he lived next door. He acted like it was a big surprise that she had been dead for a month but they were supposedly super close, he's the town sheriff, and he lived a stone's throw from her. How didn't he know she was dead before Melanie showed up at her Grandmother's cabin. That part was weird and it was never explained.

Overall, I read this in a night and it was a fun little romp through Christmas town. I have to admit, I'm with Melanie and the constant singing of Silver Bells would be super annoying! I enjoyed the Christmas tree scene the most as I think we ALL can relate to the frustration of having to find that 'perfect' tree.

Contemporary Romance. Melanie lives in Raleigh, NC with her father close by. She is a romance writer who is stuck in a crippling bout of writer's block. Her editor wants her to write a Christmas story. But Melanie hates Christmas. Her mom left her before Christmas years ago, and a string of negative experiences has made her swear off the whole holiday. But then she finds out that her estranged grandmother left her a cabin in her will.
The cabin is in a town near the Canadian border named Silver Bell Falls after the Christmas song. She begrudgingly goes up to the cabin, intending to sell it after the specified 3-month trial period and be done with it. But to her surprise, she meets sheriff Josiah Stone. He lives in a tiny house on her grandmother's property. After an initial misunderstanding, they realize that they have a lot of chemistry. Melanie finds herself able to write again. Little by little the icicles around her heart start to melt and she finds herself actually looking forward to the holidays. A cute modern romance with a Christmas theme that also touches on healing the past and forging ahead towards a bright future.

Christmas in Silver Bell Falls is like reading a Hallmark movie - predictable, yet warm, fuzzy and comfortable.

Melanie hates Christmas. Everything that has gone wrong in her life happened during the holidays. Through tacit agreement her and her Dad just completely gave up on the holiday completely. No one seems to understand the Christmas ban when she tries to explain it least of all her editor who is insisting she write a Christmas romance. When she finds out that her grandmother has passed away it doesn't cause her great pain since she didn't really know the woman and what she did know of her was not good. But, she left her a cabin in Silver Bell Falls and Melanie's dad is pressing her to go check it out. He tells her to think of it as a writing retreat and she definitely needs that right now.

Josiah has lived in Silver Bell Falls most of his life. He loves the holidays and all that comes with his over Chistmassy town. When he notices a strange woman taking up residence in one of the townspeople's home as the sheriff it's his job to check it out. Little does he know that he's about to have a life changing experience.

I really enjoyed Josiah and Melanie. They slipped right into their Christmas romance and it just leaves you feeling good. Don't expect any life altering dialogue or a action packed story line and you'll enjoy this book. The characters are likable and the story flows nicely.

REVIEW: 3.5 stars--CHRISTMAS IN SILVER BELL FALLS is the first instalment in Samantha Chase’s contemporary, adult SILVER BELL FALLS sweet, romance series focusing on the men and women of Silver Bell Falls. This is Silver Bell Falls sheriff Josiah Stone, and romance writer Melanie Harper’s story line

Told from dual third person perspectives (Melanie and Josiah) CHRISTMAS IN SILVER BELL FALLS follows the building relationship between sheriff Josiah Stone, and romance writer Melanie Harper. With the recent death of her estranged grandmother Melanie inherited a small cabin in the woods-well-a house in upstate New York-in Silver Bell Falls-a town that celebrates Christmas 365 days a year. Melanie and her father haven’t celebrated Christmas in a very long time, and our heroine isn’t willing to start celebrating any time soon. With writer’s block her only companion Melanie heads to the cabin in the woods only to discover that she isn’t alone on her grandmother’s property. Enter Silver Bell Falls sheriff Josiah Stone, and the man with whom Melanie will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship and love between Melanie and Josiah, and the potential fall out as the end date on Melanie’s visit to Silver Bell Falls draws near.

Melanie’s ownership of her grandmother’s cabin is dependent upon several guidelines including a three-month stay in Silver Bell Falls but Melanie is unaware of a few conditional provisos including the appearance of the town sheriff Josiah Stone. Josiah is desperate to buy the property from her grandmother’s estate but falling in love was never on the horizon.

The relationship between Melanie and Josiah is one of immediate attraction but Melanie has no plans to stay beyond the three month deadline. Along with Josiah Stone, the small town of Silver Bell Falls welcomes our heroine with open arms including a Santa Claus parade where Melanie is the leading star. The $ex scenes are all implied.

CHRISTMAS IN SILVER BELL FALLS is a cute, clean story of romance and love. The premise is endearing; the characters are sweet, perfect and kind; the romance is a quick build to a happily ever after.

It was just ok for me, Josiah and Mel had so much potential. I like the stories setting and the characters for the most part but I missed the true connection the heat the chemistry between them.
Slow burn books are great if the connection of the characters is there. I just feel like we are missing a big part of the story when that connection isn’t there.

Overall it was ok, I might give this series one more book because usually, first books are focused on the world building.

The narration was ok, I enjoyed her male voice better than her Mel voice, her octave would go up in the middle of talking and I just didn’t see the point.

Cute, simple, cheesey Christmas Romance.

The only part that bothered me was towards the end, so spoiler if you don't want to know, was that it never broached the possibility that he could move to Raleigh with her. He just expected her to move there knowing she had a life elsewhere, but she never countered and asked why he wouldn't pick up his life and move to her. But that's it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I enjoyed this cute little Christmas story! Silver Bell Falls is a classic Christmas town in New England that takes the holiday very seriously. Melanie has good reason to hate Christmas, but her grandmother leaves her a cabin in the town and the will requires she live in it to claim it. The town sheriff lives in a tiny house on her property, and he wants to buy it from her. Until he decides he would rather have her stay...forever! Its got some really cute moments!

Melanie Harper doesn't 'do' Christmas. Kind of ironic that she inheritates a house from her estranged Grandmother that is located in the small town of Silver Bells Falls that goes overboard in a charming way with Christmas.

The way she meets her neighbor, Josiah Stone, the sheriff of Silver Bells is one they will never forget. He takes it upon himself to try to prove to Melanie that Christmas can be awesome, wonderful time of the year.

I love the interacts these two have. I believe her Grandma played matchmaker from the beyond.

I absolutely love books that grip you so tightly that you can't put it down until the very end and even then you're disappointed that the story has ended. Disappointed but with a smile on your face because the story left you with a warm, comfy feeling.

I don't think there are any books better than Christmas themed ones. They are my favorite to read.

Added this to my list because I wanted to qualify for the ARC for the new holiday novella that is coming out in the Silver Bell Falls series and I’m glad I did!

This book reminded me of a lifetime or hallmark Christmas movie for all of the right reasons! Lots of fun banter between the main characters, a fast moving pace - with just enough drama to create some tension. Another enjoyable read from Samantha Chase.

Yep, this is definitely a Hallmark movie for the holidays. But you know what? It was refreshing. No complicated plot, no explicit sex, no gratuitous language. Just a nice little romance at Christmas. Marietta DePrima's narration was good and it was a fast read. One of those little pick-me-ups for the season.

This book was super cute and exactly what I was looking for. It was not completely believable at times, but that is to be expected with a Christmas romance. I am definitely going to read the rest of the series and Chase's other books.
