This book is well written and more set in the paranormal or abnatural world than some of this author's previous works I have enjoyed. There is a summary of characters and definitions at the front of the book which made understanding the storyline easier for this reader. Hargrove writes with great creativity and her words are beautiful on the page. "Eternally yours, that's what I told you and I meant it." "It's raining, a hard driving rain that pelts my bedroom windows and sounds like peenies hitting the glass." "Her voice has a silky tone to it, nearly perfect and seductive, a voice that could lure any man to his death with ease." "Algernon's life now was nothing but a collection of fond memories that clung to him like an old cologne, still loved but faded." One person found this helpful
Hargrove Perth has written an amazing story that holds you in it's thrall from the first page to the last. She invites you to a new world with old God's a puts her own personal touch on legend and lore. I literally bought the second book in this series as soon as I read the last word of book one. An absolute must read!
WOW! Just WOW! I don't think I could ever get tired of reading this series! Crossing the Vale, which was also awesome, is the beginning to this saga. Now I meet Gunner Kyle and am just fascinated by her! Gunner is a sanctioned VAC Hunter, which means she hunts down various supernatural beings, and man, there are a bunch of different kinds! Trolls, pixies, faes, vampires, shifters, werewolves, if you can think of a creature, it probably exists in this world. There's so many you might need a spread sheet to keep them straight! Anyway, Gunner Kyle is a really kick ass Hunter, and being as "kick ass" as she is it only makes sense that she has a Vale boyfriend, Algernon. Not just any boyfriend, mind you, but her soul-mate with incredible powers and strengths of his own. Unfortunately, Gunner's life has not been easy. Losing loved ones all around her due to these supernaturals she tries to keep under control is just one of her issues. She's also been bitten by something the world hasn't seen since before even the Egyptian Gods were worshipped. Its changed her, made her something nobody even knows how to classify and she's got to find a way to kill it before Gunner is overcome with her new abilities. Or worse yet, becomes the ancient being she wants to destroy. Another well written masterpiece that'll keep you glued and turning pages until the end!
Super Wow! Diving into Slither, I wasn't sure what to expect and I got my socks knocked off in a good way. Gunnar Kyle, is such a strong, sexy, kickass woman who works for VAC (Vampire Area Council). In the course of a mission, she is bitten by an unknown creature and barely survives, only to find out she is slowly transforming into something more than human. When the bodies of 6 vampires are found and their killings point to the creature who infected Gunnar, our heroine is all in to find her answers and take revenge. With the help of super hot, Algernon Vale, her quest is set to collide with the mysterious killer. Perth has such a strong sense of story and character, and brings both alive vividly as the pages quickly turn in a unique world I can only label as Victorian Gothic Dystopian. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

I’ve never read this type book with witches, vampires, and the list of creatures goes on. It’s amazing!!! The main Gunnar is solving a crime and looking for a very dangerous demon. And as you read, the suspect is closer than we think. I quite enjoyed this supernatural, paranormal book. As it is in first person, you are going on quite an adventure of self-discovering, while investigating. The end—well, I didn’t see it coming, and damn, now I need to wait for the follow up book! Great entertaining read. ;)
Fans of Anita Blake and Supernatural will love this action ride. Gunner Kyle is the coolest strong female lead I've seen in a long time, she's streetwise, sexy, and so very powerful, though she doesn't know it. Her love is real, her personality alive. Perth has outdone herself with this sequel to Crossing the Vale, incredible... I am officially hooked on Blood Tithes!
They say never judge a book by its cover but wow,how can you not with such a stunning cover. That being said, the minute I finished Slither, I had to see if there was a sequel. I have to know what will happen in Gunnar's life next.
