"Hired To Kill" was quite boring... The story had potential but it ended in a CLIFFHANGER. It was very short to just end like that... I'm not sure if I'll go ahead and read the next installment... it should have been just ONE book.

This is prequel of A Mafia Empire #1 series that is written by JL Beck. This story sets up all the backstories for all the major characters to come.-- This read is more of a novella to wheat the appetite of all the tempting things that is to come in the series. Full of drama, angst, excitement, passion, suspense, action and steam. If you love mafia romance stories, you do not want to miss out on this read.

This is a prequel. It gives you a glimpse into the story. A good setup for what is to come. Genaro is hired to find a young lady that stole from The Lagari family. When he sees the picture of the most beautiful woman he has ever seen, you know where this is going. He has to find her, but instead she finds him. Interesting setup that makes you anxious for the next step.

So this is not a long book, it is more of a novella to get to the start of a longer book. In this one, we meet the main characters and what is the reason for Vi/Alexa to be on the run. And why Gen is after her for the Lagari Crime Family.
The story is fast past, keeps you on your toes, and makes you wonder what the heck is next. Alexa and Gen have real chemistry that makes you want more. I hope you read this book in hopes that you enjoy it as much as I do.

I need more!!! Hired to Kill by J.L. Beck, the prequel to the new Mafia Empire series is a must read. Its has tons of action and characters that you absolutely need to know more about.
In this prequel we are introduced to a hired killer, Genaro, also known as the "Silencer" and he is one cold S.O.B. That was until the day he met Alexa Rogers (a.k.a. Vi Rogers) when he was sent to collect her for his boss.
Alexa Rogers is a thief, a really good theif!!! After being sent to steal a necklace that she didn't realize belonged to the mob caused a course of events that eventually led Genaro to her and retrieve what was stolen.
Once Genaro and Alexa laid eyes on each other however it was game over... the instant attraction and the flirting is cause for lines to be crossed and a future that both are unsure of.
This is only the beginning of what I think will be an action packed, sexy, and dangerous story of two amazing characters that I will definitely be getting to know better. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mafia story. Well done Beck... bring it on!!!

A well written short suspense drama prequel thats dark, edgy and exciting. Its action packed with twists and turns definitely got me intrigued. The plot flows effortlessly with characters that were so well developed that I remained totally engaged until the very last page. Gives you a taste of what is to come in this series leaving you hanging needing more from Gen and Alexa. Alexa who gets involved in something she hadn't is being set up. Genero is sent to get her. He works as a hitman for the Lagari family as the “The Silencer” but what happens when he cant get his mind off Alexa, liking her a little too much that's explosive and undeniable? I’m excited to read this new Mafia series a prequel that is steamy and full of passion and intrigue, that I can't wait for more, I'm left hanging. I voluntarily reviewed this awesome ARC.

It’s suspenseful so far with great dialogue and characters that sizzle, and a plot that is unfolding to be a cat and mouse game while Alexa and Genaro try escaping the wrath of the mob.
Just beware, this is 64 pages, and you will likely want the next two books to finish their story. Both are currently offered at $2.99 each and less than 100 pages.

Gen works for the mafia family as The Silencer he takes care of whomever they tell him but when they give him his new job its one he doesn't want. One look at Alexa's picture and Gen knows that this job will change his life forever. Once he has her in reach he knows that he'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe. Will Gen be able to fight his bosses for Alexa?
This is a prequel to The Mafia Empire Series and draws you in from the first chapter. The chemistry between Alexa and Gen is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I can't wait for the next in this series. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Genero is a mafia hitman and gets paid well to do his job. He does his job so well that he is the "Silencer". But he never hurts women or children, you have to have rules in this line of work. But when a favor is called in, can he follow through with it when the target is a woman?
Alexa has struggled growing up, but now she is looking to retire, but when someone sets her up and she steals from the wrong family, can she get away with it?

This book is exciting and very well written. You are yanked into the story and invested in what happens from the very first page until the very last word, and you definitely want to know what will happen next!! I highly recommend this book because it is a short read (it took me a couple of hours) and I just devoured it, wanting to know what was going to happen next. I'm already torn about my feelings for Gen, but I will reserve judgement until I can find out even more about him, and believe me, I want MORE!! Enjoy!!

Gen is a man that doesn't really have any feelings. When he is told to find a women all he really want to do is leave what he has always done and followed orders.
Vi is not really who she says she is. However, she is very strong and will do anything to make it out of what she was tricked into doing.
The chemistry between these two is really hot but will they be able to make it through what is coming for them.

Alexa Rogers was sent a job to steal a necklace, however what she didn't realise was it was the mafia's house. Alexa was set up, why she doesn't know. She doesn't want to believe out was by her long life friend Sloane. On the run on the train she literally falls into his his path. Genaro the man who is hired to find and bring her back to Lorenzo Lagari the head of the mafia. Genaro finds himself drawn to this wowan who calls herself Vi. This is a well written story that keeps you wanting to find out what's next. A must read series.

Oh what a tease you are to me Hired to Kill. :-) This is a short and quick read. It gives a little information on our characters and how much chemistry they have with each other. It does end in a cliffhanger but it is so worth the reading of it. It is well written and the flow of the story is amazing. I loved Gen and his funny little thoughts and comments at times. Alexa is super smart and strong. She is also quick whited and has the ability to move quickly. This is definitely worth reading and it will make you crave the rest of the story.

This is a great start to this series. It is a short, quick read with steam. Alex's is a thief and is very good at it. When she and her partner are set up she goes on the run. Gen is a hitman and tasked with finding her. He is instantly attracted to her when he sees her picture and even more so when he sees her in person. This has some action, lies, and explosive chemistry. The storyline is so well written it just flows from page to page. I was hooked from the beginning.

Gen aka The Silencer is a hitman for the mafia boss. His new assignment is to track down Alexa and bring her back alive. Alexa took something from the mob boss. She knows they will be coming after her. She just doesn't know they already found her. This is a quick read that will definitely get you ready for the first book in the series.

This short prequel is about Mob hitman Genaro and his mark Alexa. Alexa is a jewellery thief and someone has set her up big time. Gen has some hitman ethics; he doesn't kill women or children. This story sets up the characters and plot, and as such, there's no resolution, just a teaser of what's to come.

This was a great start to an action packed with twists and turns at every corner Mafia series where we meet Genaro and Alexa who are in an impossible situation and things are about to get real intense. We meet the main characters and get the back story of whats going down and its going to be one exciting series. I cant wait

This book is actually a prequel to the series. It is short, novella size length, but there is a lot packed in. I like both the characters of Genaro and Alexa. What I've read so far has caught my attention and I'm looking forward to seeing where this is going to go and what is going to happen next.

I took an ARC of this book for a review of my honest opinion.
This an amazing book. J.l. Beck wrote a humdinger of a book. It grabbed me from the get go and could not put it down. However, be forewarned it kind of leaves you hanging as what is still left to happen to Gen and Alexa. But I can't wait to find out.

Great Start to a New Series!
What a great start to a new series!
Hired to Kill had my attention from the first page! The action and twists and turns kept me reading to find out what happens! With intriguing storyline and great characters, I can’t wait for the next book! It can’t get here fast enough!

A very well written prequel to a new series concerning the mafia. Loved the action and the main characters Alexa and Genaro. Getting to know Alexa and Genaro and their interaction in this story leave you wanting to read the rest of the series when it comes out. I can not wait for the rest.

Wow! What a great start to a series! Genaro is a hitman and was hired to kill Alexa but once he sees her everything changes. This novella is full of drama, danger, suspense and twists.
