Author’s This full-length steamy romance is what you need to fire up your Kindle!!!
I dont like writing negative things about books or writing negative reviews at all because I respect every authors’s/ writers work and time& effort what they must put into each of their book ...It a big deal, however I simply dont understand within this case how this story ( which is cliche but still good ) got so many 5 stars ..Did I read something else? An another book maybe? The structure, the time phase , the conversations ..I really tried to like it because usually these kind of stories are up my valley but I just couldn’t for the life of me figure it out and stay calm instead of getting annoyed by the minute with the whole thing. Our heroine was super naive and just seemed like a lost case most of the time...the hero..well a douche who had better and worse days ... and the story? SPOILER ALART *** the fact that he just went away for five years .. zero contact with his loving family, ..the said family didnt question the fact that the good neighbor’s daughter is a single mom who’s child looks like an identical copy of their son....and ugh never mind.
All in all , I clearly did not “felt “ this book but maybe I will try another one from the author and hopefully I can give a 5 for that one.
For half the book I thought this book was set in England. The authors use of British slang was totally offsetting. There were many editing mistakes, grammar and misspelling was bad. The book had a good concept and the story flowed well, but I couldn't get over the poor editing and slang.
Just for You by Mia Ford- An absolutely a well-written romance story with many twist and turns!that felt very real to me. Honestly, I can’t think of a thing I didn’t like about this book. It’s how life really is.Mia continues to write excellent books, this is no exception.Just when you think the last book was great, fantastic along comes this one. I honestly can not find any fault with it, it held me from the very first page until the last. The characters were marvellous they worked really well together. The plot was great and you could feel that you are part of the story, you are drawn in with every turn of the page. Its a boy next door who is from a rich family and friends the girl next door, they do everything together until......?do they find their own happy ever after? buy the book to find out, you will not be disappointed,I promise you.I was privileged to receive this book as an advanced copy & am choosing to review it voluntarily and this was honest review..5*
It’s supposed to take place in the US (somewhere but it’s never specified) but everyone speaks like they’re in England. English speech patterns, English words.
He’s pretty much a jump-to-conclusions douchebag, and she’s more or less of a doormat, and if they have chemistry, it got lost in an experiment gone wrong. She’s evasive about being self-supportive (I don’t think she actually has a job?) and miraculously, she’s never had sex with anyone else. Whereas he was a manho for years, until after he deflowered her. *sighoffrustration* By the numbers romance with stiff-upper-lip people.
Lucie was close friends with Kade when they were kids. Lucie had a crush on Kade but he became popular and forgot about her. Then in collage Kade was a party player and Lucie studied hard. But then one day her wish became true and she lost her virginity to him. Then suddenly he was gone and Lucie ended up pregnant and hurt. Five years later he is back. Can she ever forgive him and can he forgive her when he finds out about her secret ? A well written romance. It was very emotional. Young love and a broken heart. I loved every single minute of it
I hate to give bad ratings but this book was a DNF. Too many grammatical errors before I even got out of the sample but I decided to keep reading. However the errors continued plus I couldn’t feel the characters feelings.
DNF. I tried. I really wanted to like this book. I love a secret baby romance. There were SO MANY grammatical errors in this book. I also couldn’t get past the word choices like “mates” and “cheeky” that made me think it was taking place in England, but then to find out it’s supposed to be set in America kind of threw me. Also, the characters had a very immature feel and had no depth. I felt like I was reading something an angsty teenager would write thinking it would pass for steamy romance.
This guy has the best of both worlds because he could cheat over and over and she won't do crap. What a weak and immature girl she is. She made me mad and sick for all women around the world. And he is just a wussy and a weak man. They deserve o another. 2 stars because she did put effort into writing something.
Like the plot of childhood friends falling in love. The lessons of growing up and learning from your mistakes. Glad that they got back together after all the drama. Love the ending too.
The premise was actually pretty good. Everyone loves a second chance romance. Plus, there's a cute kid involved. However, I just can't ignore the grammar lapses and spelling errors. I'm sorry.
Childhood Best Friends Kade And Lucie Get A Third Chance At Love!
Lucie, twenty, is a serious-minded college student. She particaptes in study groups, never gets drunk and doesn't glam up but yet stands out with her natural good looks. Unfortunately, her childhood crush attends the same school, and watching him parade around with endless girls is quite a distraction.
Kade, also twenty, comes from new money - he will be the third generation to run the family empire. He first needs to get his business degree to prepare him for the responsibility. With money to throw around and a helicopter at the ready, he is fully engaged in the social aspects of his second year of college, fully and foolishly believing his father's generous donations will asure that he passes his courses. He has a rule: never sleep with a girl more than five times. For him, life is a nonstop party.
Until one afternoon he spots his childhood best friend and neighbor Lucie with her study group. Despite the harem surrounding him, he can't look away from her. He notices for the first time how beautiful she is and regrets losing her friendship when they were fourteen. He feels compelled to win her friendship back.
Kade and Lucie slowly become reacquainted, and everything indicates to both that they have a chance at something real, until Kade drops out of school and disappears without a word, leaving Lucie to presume he left because she (like in high school) presumed too much and came across as pathetic and needy.
Kade is whisked away by his furious father in a makeshift way to force him to grow up. When he returns after five years of hands-on work experience across the globe, he is surprised to find that Lucie is a single mom and living with her parents. Nobody knows the father's identity, but that doesn't prevent old feelings from being rekindled.
This story is very touching. Lucie and Kade's history is what keeps them coming back to one another. Lucie is a good girl, always with good intentions. Kade, however, has tremendous growing pains. When his hormones kick in at fourteen, he sees Lucie as his friend and looks at other girls, completely ruining his friendship. He also begins to make guy friends and begins to get caught up in popularity and his wealth. He is a classic case of ADHD, too. He has difficulty learning in school and acts compulsively (and recklessly). His parents' intervention really saves him from himself.
Lucie's long-suffering patience to try to do right by both Kade and their son Logan gives Kade the opportinity to finally get his act together. It was rewarding to see him earn back his family's respect and Lucie's love.
It felt unrealistic to believe that Kade did not return for five years. Certainly he would have been given vacation time, like any employee. Seeing Lucie or learning she had a baby would have been unavoidable during a visit, given their mothers were best friends and neighbors. Also, he claims he had no spare time - not even enough for a one night stand in his five years away. It is credible that he was kept busy and moving often enough that he had no time for a relationship. However, five years without time for a one night stand makes no sense. Also, he claims he cooks well, implying he had time to develop that skill. It is later said that he thought of Lucie during those years, and that as an excuse for not dating makes much more sense. Finally, in the modern era, it is hard to believe that in those five years of pining after Lucie that he didn't reach out on social media or email at some point.
I would give this story 3.5 stars if possible. The story is lovely, but it reads like a first draft. It has editing and proofreading issues, and is confusing in places.
I received a free advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
⭐3 Stars-Average (It was good but nothing to brag about),
Standalone; dual POV; HEA.
I debated long and hard about how to rate this read. It usually comes easy for me to rate unless it's a really good book and I wish I could rate it 10. But this read had me a little disappointed. I don't want to discourage anyone from reading it because I read it regardless that I was on the fence about finishing it. Let me explain. The book had good characters, a potentially amazing story line, but it lack reality. I could not imagine the feelings that were going on because it was just so dull, fast and fake. NOT REALISTIC AT ALL. A book should be an escape. This was not. Nevertheless, I think the writing could have been better and dragged out a little. It needed more feeling, more angst. It's like getting on a roller coaster, then the cart pulls out and goes maybe 5 seconds and you can see the ramp in front of you about to take the cart up for it's first drop but then, the ride stops and the cart goes in reverse and the process starts all over again.
Kade and Lucie grew up next door to each other as best friends. But of course something happens that ends the friendship. Fast forward to college years. Kade's character was a typical rich boy who wants to just party his college years away. Lucie is a good girl; she's smart and has dreams she wants to fulfill. And they meet again. The main points to the read are there and they're good but they needed more exploring. I wanted to complete this book because i hope the eventually the story would blossom. It didn't. It's a light read, I think I was more on the edge of my seat cause I want more. More chaos, more feelings, more grit.
Heart-rendering, emotional and STEAMY! A fast-paced second-chance romance that will make you feel so good! I love “JUST FOR YOU” by Mia Ford! It made me smile, tore me up and made me cry, and had me shouting in joy as I read the promised HEA! Yet for all of the emotional trauma, this is one of those “feel good” stories that make one smile at the mention of the title. Yeah, “JUST FOR YOU” is that good! First, I fell in love with Lucie. Her wonderful courage, as well as her propensity to plan out every little thing, was endearing. Additionally, I liked the Brit-slang feel of the conversations between the characters! It kept me on my toes and added to the story’s unique flavor. As always occurs, author Mia Ford’s characters were exceptionally well crafted and richly flavored. Readers will fall in love with the lead characters despite their flaws because of the wonderful introspection Ford allows them to share with the reader as the events of the story take place. That changing perspective, telling the story from Kade’s point of view and then Lucie’s point of view allows the reader to understand so much more about the characters and the decisions they make. There is no underlying social commentary or deep message beyond the romantic “love conquers all.” “JUST FOR YOU” is a wonderfully refreshing love story with all of the steam that Mia Ford brings to her novels. I was given an ARC of “JUST FOR YOU” to prepare this honest voluntary review and must give it the STRONG five-star recommendation that it has earned. Get your copy of “JUST FOR YOU” today! Happy pages! 😉
Mia Ford is a genuine genius and I couldn't devour Just For You fast enough. Within these creatively crafted pages you will find such a realistic and heartbreakingly beautiful storyline with beautifully designed characters you can't help but route for the entire time. Truth, while I am a fan of Ms Ford, however, this latest release broke my heart and then mended it back together again seamlessly. As reader's, you are already aware that it takes one extremely talented author to draw you in to their book and make you 'feel' it. This masterpiece does exactly that. Just For You is an addictive read that you'll absorb so fast as I have.
I do not like to give away the plot of stories. I strongly believe that all romance junkies like myself, that are looking for a superbly written book to purchase... you will enjoy this release. I know that you'll find yourselves stuck to your e-reader just as I was. Follow Kade and Lucie's journey together as they once again meet after years of silence. How does one recover from having their heart and spirit broken? Find the answers here in Just For You. That is what Mia's latest release is... A gift Just For You.
I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Just For You in exchange for my honest opinion and I highly recommend this book as well as anything written by Ms. Ford.
This is a wonderful friends to love story about childhood friends, Kade and Lucie. These two grow up next door to one another and are best friends until they reach high school when hormones and life separate them. Lucie is happy for a new chance once she gets to college, only problem Kade some how ends up at the same college. Kade is wild and free with his money and body that Lucie stays in the shadows. One day while Lucie is studying in walks Kade and some women and Kade actually does a double take when he sees Lucie. Their story reconnects at this point with them sharing thier childhood stories from fun to heartbreak. They tried to start a relationship just as Kade’s world come crashing down around him. Lucie is left without any explanation and in unknown territory with a broken heart. Lucie is forced to grow up and move on with her own decisions to make. After 5 years have passed can these two figure out that to make it all work for them that they’ll need more than love? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Have you ever had the best friend from your childhood, that ws your go to person. The one that you told everything ,your partner in crime and most of all the person that you would love your whole life never telling the other one how you truly feel. Lucie is that person, she has this great life growing up, tomboy with her childhood crush and then when that age of 13 hits things change. Fast forward a few years and their in college, Lucie rekindles some of her feeling, Kade finds his but one bad decision ruins everything for them as Kad e is forced to leave college, spend 5 year learning the family business. Never knowing that he's going to be a father. Now it's been 5 years and he'd back and Lucie needs to tell him the truth but things happen and it almost comes crashing down around them. But finally things work out and they get their HEA and another baby as well. This book was so good. It was a beautiful story and I can't wait until we get the next book to read. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy.
There were so many typos it was sometimes hard to figure out what the author meant the sentence to say. They seriously detracted from the story but that wasn't the only problem. You know from the write-up that Kade gets Lucie pregnant then disappears on her but this doesn't happen until the book is 46% in. There was a lot of unnecessary "story" before that happened. Lucie is way too weak. Kade is way too much of a jerk. This read like an author's first attempt at telling a story without a good editor. The premise was there, it just wasn't executed well and I found myself not liking the characters. It took 46% of the book to set up the desertion, then it jumped five years. It would have been much better to spend less time on the build-up then show some of what happened during that five-year span. The quickness with which these characters can change their minds about how they feel can make your head spin. There was no excuse for Lucie's delay in telling Kade the truth once he returned, but he sure did change how he felt really fast.
Kade and Lucie were best friends growing up and when they hit high school everything changed. Kade left Lucie behind heartbroken but she moved on the best she could. What she never counted on was that they would end up at the same college. Kade regretted cutting Lucie from his life and when he ran into her again at college he saw it as his second chance. However all the partying he has been doing has put him at risk for being booted from school. He has one amazing night with Lucie before all of his world crumbles. Just as things seemed really great between them Kade disappears without a trace from Lucie's world? Will Kade come back and explain why he left?
This is a great story once I started I couldn't put this down. The chemistry between Lucie and Kade is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this to any book lover.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. I enjoyed it so much I bought my own copy.
A HEARTBEAT AWAY!!! This is one refreshing, heartwarming, gut wretching, bring you to your knees read that takes you from emotional wreck to over the moon. Yeah, guys its that good. Mia always brings her A-game when she shares her gifts with us. She never holds back. With a strong storyline she draws us into her imagination and creates a world around us so realistic until everything else ceases to exist. The characters are intriguing and believable. Their personalities played off one another and bring life to the riles they were created to play. The scenes are vividly detailed and draw out all the emotions and drama you can handle. The connection between the two main characters are deep and endless. With twists and turns and a few surprises thrown in and enough spice to add flavor you have well balanced characters and a great plot. Fantastic job Mia, thanks for sharing this remarkable read with us.
Not what I expected. Not at all. But that is in the most positive way. Second chance romance stories are normally the same and therefor not my thing but this one surprised me. I liked it a lot. Well written passionate story with a nice storyline and plot. I like that the characters and how they develop. A passionate and emotional read with twists. Enjoyable and recommendable. Characters are well described and very likeable. I cheer for him that she could see how much he wanted her and their child. Most romantic second chance that is a must read.
It is written in dual POV which gives the reader much more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. The epilogue is very welcomed and gives the story more to it and it finishes it better of than without it. There are passion, hot scenes and lots of chemistry in this amazing story.
Unfortunately there were too many gramatical errors within this book that it made reading difficult. I would have to go back and re-read lines. I had to keep reminding myself that the book is set in America as a couple of words which we English mainly use were included. A particular insuilt comes to mind, which i've only ever heard once said by an American (Emma Stone in Easy A - But she butchers the pronouciation), but is used frequently as an insult by us English. I couldn't connect with either of the two main characters, Lucie was quite blah and could easily forgive/get over heartache, whereas Kade lost what little sex appeal he was suppose to have when he says "Oh, my goodness" ..... The story had potential and to its credit, i wanted to finish the book. I don't like to give less than 3 stars, but unfortunately the gramatical errors were too much.
While I liked the overall concept of irresponsible playboy turning over a new leaf this story had some deal breakers for me.
The editing needs a review. There were also many English terms used throughout the story. Not a big deal except this story was placed in the United States with American characters.
I liked the ending but Lucie didn't seem to be my type of girl after her attitude toward Kade upon his return. Her big life change and how she handled it didn't really make sense to me. It seems that her secret would have been detected by the people around her over several years. Either the neighbors and Kade's parents are clueless or this story needed to find a better way of telling this part of the story. It was also upsetting that when she leaves college she doesn't have any conversation with her best friend.

This was a second chance, friends to lovers story with a secret baby. Kade and Lucie were inseparable childhood friends who grew apart in high school. Hormones kicked in and Kade dropped his best friend to chase girls. When they meet up again in college, he realizes and regrets how he treated Lucie. They end up having a passionate night together which she hopes is the beginning of a new phase in their relationship. When circumstances take him suddenly away, Kade leaves behind a devastated Lucie, and something else. Five years later, they meet again, but will he botch it up again? Or can he get it right this time? I voluntarily reviewed this Advance Reader Arc.
Kade is the hero in the beginning that you love to hate but in the end find him so endearing. Lucie is the I’ve been wronged good girl who is so annoying because of her self-doubt but is also strong and forgiving. Normally those things would be put me off but I honestly thought it worked in this story. Kade and Lucie have a history and that back story perfectly sets up the present and future of these characters. One of my favorite parts is every so often throughout the story there were these perfect little snippets of the characters’ internal dialogue. The story line just flowed, creating the perfect chain of events that gets these two to their HEA. It was an emotional roller coaster in the best way! I received an ARC for an honest and voluntary review.
The description captured my interest, but the actual story was pretty pitiful. It was hard enough to follow with all the grammatical errors. I just don’t get it! Do these authors even have someone else read their books before publication?! And I don’t understand why foreign authors write books “set in America” when it’s so obvious that they’re not. The vocabulary and dialect were obviously British. The story itself was so cliche, but I pretty much expected that. The h was pathetic and let the H walk all over her. All in all, not worth the time it takes to skim through.
Lucie and Kade were best friends until high school but got separated, then reunited and separated again. They slept together but he disappeared and left her with a surprise. Kade returns and wants Lucie because he never forgot their night together. Will Lucie forgive Kade for leaving without contact for five years? Will Kade learn about Lucie's secret and make things work between them. This is a well written second chance storyline that will keep you turning the pages. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
An endearing and captivating second chance romance.
This was a sweet and captivating second chance romance. Kade and Lucie have been friends since they were kids, but they fell out of friendship in high school, but then they meet again at college. Lucie still has strong feelings for Kade, but life keep throwing roadblocks in their path. This is an interesting journey of a storyline, with many twists and turns. This book is an enjoyable romantic read.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Kade and Lucie were childhood best friends that were inseparable, until high school and everything thing changed. Kade always regretted leaving Luck behind so when they meet again in college he sees it as his second chance. Will Luci give him that second chance? This was a great read well written with an engaging storyline. Luci and Kade were great together and had amazing chemistry. I really enjoyed this book it kept my interest from beginning to end. I voluntarily received an advanced arc copy for an honest review.
Well this is a story of best friends that grow apart or go their separate ways to coming back together only to be a part again. Lucien is best friends with Kade ever since his family moved next door to hers. Lots of mistakes happen and their friendship suffers for it. They have been friends since their moms became friends. There are a lot of I’m sorry that goes on but in the book you can read how each other is growing up to be more what the other needs and becoming adult for what they need. Great book!!
