This continues the "stealing the evil eye" plot and the traitor is revealed. Almost everyone continues to treat the MC like crap because of his parentage; despite his rough manner he is clearly a solid guy because he stills fights for the others and is concerned for their emotional well-being even though he gets no credit for it.
This volume is a bit short in terms of plot arc because there are two "bonus" shorts at the end.
The action in this is wonderful and the thickening plot keeps me wanting more. I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a demon/exorcist twist to their reading schedule.
i definitely had a harder time keeping up with what was happening compared to previous volumes, but that's probably just because of how long it's been since i last read any haha
Rin Okumura is the illegitimate son of Satan, but he and his twin brother, Yukio, have been raised by Father Fujimoto, a famous exorcist. Once he discovers the truth, Rin swears to defeat Satan by entering the famous True Cross Academy and becoming an exorcist himself. The only trouble is, he has to keep his demon heritage a secret or he stands a good chance of being destroyed by the very people he wants to join.
This volume is my favourite of the volumes so far. The story arc with the eyes of the Impure King continues and Rin continues the training to control his blue flame.
I felt really sorry for Rin in this volume as, once again, he has to deal with the harsh realities of being the son of Satan. He grew as a character over the course of the book, and I actually felt proud of him . He still has a long way to go, but I believe he can get there! :)
However, this volume focused a lot on the side characters, particularly Suguro, Konekomaru and Shima. It was great to see more of their unique personalities, especially in the case of Konekomaru, who has been overshadowed by the other two up until now. He has a lot more depth to his character than has been shown previously, and I enjoyed learning that.
The theme of friendship is tested in this volume, in particular with regards to the relationship between Rin and Konekomaru. This theme has been strong throughout the series, but I think this volume handled it particularly well. I'm hoping that friendship can triumph over the stigma Rin faces for being the son of Satan, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Overall, I'm looking forward to seeing how this story arc is concluded!
I recommend this manga to anyone who enjoys action-orientated stories with a paranormal twist. :)
I would have liked less exposition on some of the side characters because it wasn't enough to really give me a feel for them in this one. Also, I feel like things are progressing at a super slow pace and then speeding up really quickly. There needs to be some sort of happy-medium where the plot progresses and we learn about the past at the same time while also developing the characters that doesn't take 1072093710273 chapters. I am hoping that this arc doesn't last too much longer -- or that it overlaps into another arc so that more than one thing is happening at the same time.
April 2014: 4 Stars Awwwww Rin is such a good guy ;u; even though he understands his situation, he doesn't let that change how he treats his friends. At last, shit has hit the fan. Not only has Rin put himself in a very, very bad situation, but the general populace is at risk of being exposed to what may be the biggest chemical attack of the times. Can Rin and the Knights of the Blue Cross stop the attack dead in its tracks? I LOVE the Phantom Train bonus story! I hope it's in the anime ^w^
This manga is up there in my top 10. Action, adventure, a smidgen of romance. The character designs are all quite unique which I appreciate. As an aside, the manga and anime are so far removed from each other one you get past that first story arc that they could be 2 completely different stories. They are both quite good, though. Do both.

Renzo, I'm happy for him that he & Rin getting along well. Konekomaru, hope he will get along with Rin even though i feel bad about him that he's the only miwa's family left. Renzo's is the fifth son, the older brother passed away so he have 2nd brother &4th brother, I wondered where's the third brother🤔 go. Rin is in jail cell because of the complicated family problem between bon & his father that Rin had to stepped up between them, punch bon in the face even thought Rin remembered the incident of shiro. The traitor is mamushi, she took the right eyes plus she escaped with todo in mist.

I like all the new characters and we got to learn a lot more about the Kyoto crew in this volume. Also I was glad to see Shima and Koneko starting to forgive Rin and trust him again. The last story was a flashback but I liked how it showed the relationship dynamics between Rin, Yukio, and Shiemi.
Things are finally starting to get serious! I'm having a heck of a time trying to remember everyone's names though, since so many refer to each other by their last names.
4.5 Stars. The problem with shonen manga is you get a lot of volumes like this one that are just inbetweeners. Nothing big happens but a bunch of little stuff. It isn't that this isn't a good volume, it is, it just is a collection of the minutia.
Love how Rin figured out the candles and the lettle that Bon's dad left him. Still a lot of back history going on but in present circumstances (the best way for it to come out)!
3.25 stars - Solid Volume - At times confused but was able to figure everything out - The plot in this was just okay - Rin is my favorite and Shiemi - Dislike Shura
