The Wedding from Hell, Part 2: The Rehearsal Dinner is the exciting second adventure in J.R. Ward’s three-part ebook serialization: The Wedding From Hell. This exclusive prequel to her upcoming standalone suspense, Consumed (available in October 2018) takes us to where it all started between arson investigator Anne Ashburn and ‘bad boy’ firefighter Danny Maguire. The Wedding From Hell is a sexy standalone novella that sets up Consumed's storyline, leaving fans hungry for more and dying to snatch it up.
The Wedding From Hell, Part 2: The Reception: As the wedding from hell continues, Anne and Danny find themselves walking the delicate balance between professional distance and explosive attraction. Will the desire they feel last through the night and change their lives? Or are they doomed to part after one night of passion?
J.R. Ward is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of numerous novels, including the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. She lives in the South her family.
The Reception is book 2 of The Wedding From Hell prequels by J.R. Ward. This author is amazingly providing us with this little look into the relationship between the two main characters of her upcoming brand new book, Consumed.
It’s the wedding day of Danny Maquire and Anne Ashburn’s friend and fellow firefighter, Moose. They can’t believe that Moose is really going to go through with it. No one feels like his bride to be is good for him. But they are his brothers and will stand by him.
The attraction between Danny and Anne has been building during the entire two years they have worked together. Danny is ready to go all in but Anne isn’t. She has to work doubly hard to be accepted at the firehouse since she is a woman. Not to mention that it is against the rules to fraternize with anyone within the firehouse. Anne is ready to give in for just one night but Danny wants more. He wants everything.
I loved this little short. I am already so in love with these two and so badly want them to be together. I can’t wait to dig in to Consumed to see where things go. Thank you so much to this author for this little glimpse.
The second part to a wonderful taste of JR Ward’s new series coming out in October! It’s just a tease for what is to come with the sexy firefighters of precinct 499! This prequel, and the two others that are put out are currently free! Definitely worth taking a peek and seeing if the new series is something that interests you!
This one takes place at the wedding reception of one of the firefighters and it is a glimpse into a sizzling night between Anne and Danny!! They both work at the same place; but for one night they can’t resist each other!!! I loved the two of them and I can’t wait for more!
Second snippet for the Wedding from hell (that nobody cares about) and for the love story between Danny and Anne (that most probably everyone will care about at the fire-station when they learn about it)
He wanted her naked. Now. He wanted in her. Now. He wanted... everything from her. Now.
Anne was not ready to give everything to Danny (for the correct reasons maybe), but she was willing to give and take something from him.
This little beauty cranks up the heat. Definitely recommend grabbing this and the previous prequel novella The Rehearsal Dinner whilst they're FREE, and before Consumed is released.
Now! That's how you write a great sex scene!!! If anne doesn't want Danny I definitely will take him!!! These book lead ups just keep getting better and better!!! I think JR knows that she's doing, she is whipping us all up into a frenzy for Conumed!!! I know this series is gonna blow out minds and I can't wait!! My hearts a pumping and it's gonna to take a couple days to forget about a going commando Danny mcguire!!
Oh god. Danny! So hot but my heart is taking a beating and I think it will only get worse. Love this novella but hate it is broken into parts. JR Ward is killing me!
This snippet is almost combustible on it’s own and so damn good! I am fanning myself here! Can’t wait for more of this story leading into Consumed, her full length novel.
The second prequel novella to Consumed, we get to see a fiery hot exchange between Anne and Danny. All I can say is I'm excited for the full length novel!! I'm going in!
Well things definitely heat up in all kinds of way in this prequel to Consumed. Anne is struggling with how she feels about Danny even as she decides whether or not to go for a one night stand with him. Danny wants everything from her but runs into a brick wall in trying to get it. The angst level is pretty high from the disaster of the wedding, the incident that took place the night before, the emotional condition the groom is in, and the yawning relationship between this hero and heroine. Overall, this is definitely a read that will lead you to snapping up the next book.
Love Danny. I can understand Anne's reaction after, but still disappointed. Glad the story doesn't end there. Hoping Consumed won't just be Anne pushing Danny away through the whole story.
It's the wedding day that we've all been waiting for... NOT!! Moose is about to marry his worst nightmare and he's completely oblivious. Anne and Danny can see his life is heading for disaster, but as his friends, they're standing by him through it all. Supporting him and trying to guide him to where he believes his happiness lies.
And that's all on top of the fact that these two are fighting the inevitability of their relationship. They want each other. They've tasted each other. But Anne is having a hard time coming to grips. While everything inside of her is shouting at her, telling her to give in to all the greatness that is Danny, there's a no fraternization clause while working for the company and all she's ever wanted is to be a firefighter. To be accepted. And Danny's got seniority so if someone has to go, it will be her. Will she follow her heart or will she sacrifice what could be the greatest thing to happen to her?
Firefighters Anne Ashburn and Danny Maguire are now at the wedding from Hell, still struggling with their now explosive attraction. The day of reckoning is upon them.
There’s a lot more going on in this second novella and I felt like I had a better sense of Danny and somewhat more of Anne. Things progressed rather quickly with some interesting tangents (and steam). It was a nice set up for their upcoming story because it is certainly to be continued. And the wedding couple is probably going to end up being in the marriage from Hell. Classic J. R. Ward!
I thought I could hold off on starting my Advanced Review Copy of Consumed a bit longer but after devouring The Reception with my coffee this morning, I know I have to start it RIGHT FREAKING NOW. I'm so consumed by the fiery attraction between Anne and Danny, by their decadent push and pull and the refreshing tone JR Ward has given to this new series. I'm loving everything about it and I'm beyond ready to start reading Consumed. This second part of the prequel was short and sexy and so complicated and emotional... it's so much yummy goodness packed into just a few pages. But i'm hooked. I'm consumed. I'm ravenous for more. I'm diving in to Consumed right away!
Another quick glimpse into this new book that's coming about fire fighters and it's very tantalising. Danny and Anne work together but don't usually play together but a friend's wedding sees them both going places that would ordinarily be out of bounds. You will fall for Danny without a doubt but it's Anne who puts up walls and if honest I understood her reasons. This has definitely wet my appetite for more and a huge thanks to the author for these snippets.
2,5 estrellas. Part two of The Wedding From Hell brings us to the big day for Danny and Anne's friend, Moose, and they're having even more trouble battling the combustion between them.
On the one hand, Danny and Anne are in agreement, they wish there was a way to convince Moose he's making a big mistake. Meanwhile, Anne is tired of fighting her attraction to a certain hot firefighter and gives in; on the condition it's for one night only. She's worked too hard for the respect of her fellow crew to blow it all on an affair.
Danny has been in love with Anne for what feels like forever. When she comes to him with a proposition, he can't say no, but will it cost him the woman of his dreams?
This #free prequel to the big event- Consumed- coming out in October is a smart idea. As a reader, I'm now fully invested in these characters and can't wait to see how it all plays out!
I give The Wedding From Hell Part 2: The Reception 5 lovely kisses: One HOT read!
This is the second prequel for the up and coming book Consumed by JR Ward. It picks up right where the first prequel left off. You get more disastrous wedding drama and the results of Anne and Danny's attraction during the wedding reception. Both prequels have had vital information on Anne and Danny, so I would recommend reading both.
The Wedding from Hell picks up the next day at the wedding where we get to see the powerful chemistry between Anne and Danny combust. I love that Ward allowed us insight into their feelings, insecurities and the impossible obstacles both face. This was short, sweet and sexy. I cannot wait to devour Consumed. The whole Moose/Deandra drama was stomach turning and not funny at all. I still can’t believe that low rent, toxic, 2-dimensional, trash character that's as obvious as a bull in a china shop caused all this Jerry Springer grief for Danny in Consumed. So ridiculous and unoriginal.
Considering I already read Consumed, I went back and read this prequel to see if there was something I was missing from the dynamic between hero and heroine. And yeeeah...nope. Final verdict still stands. What a waste of a good hero. I still don’t see what Danny sees in Anne, who has the personality of a broomstick and charisma of congealed oatmeal. Jesus Christ. Does this woman even know how to have any fun? Apparently not. But hey whatever revs your engine I guess, Dannyboy. 😕 And as for the whole Deandra mess? For a supposedly "smart" tough as nails heroine, Anne is seriously dumb AF. I still stand by that.
These preview chapters really are not selling me this book at all. If fact, they are making me not want to read it. 🤷♀️ I feel like this is a story I’ve read before over and over.....
Reviewed for THC Reviews The Reception is the second installment of a serialized novella prequel to J. R. Ward’s new contemporary romance series, Firefighters. This part was equally as good as the first and way hotter.;-) It takes place on the day of the proverbial wedding from hell. I won’t give away what happens, but I still stand by the assessment I made following the first half that the (un)happy couple is doomed. Luckily, though, they aren’t the focus of the story. That honor goes to Danny and Anne, who will also become the hero and heroine of Consumed, the first full-length novel in the series.
We learn a little bit more about Danny and Anne, all of which intrigues me. Danny, it seems, has lost his entire family, so his firefighter brethren are his only family. He’s been a playboy for most of his adult life, never committing and generally only engaging in one-night stands. But with Anne, he feels completely different, like he’s finally found someone special with whom he could see spending his life. Too bad Anne doesn’t really feel the same way… yet. She appears to have some complicated family dynamics. She’s also worked her butt off to get where she is as a female firefighter in a male-dominated world, so she isn’t about to give that up for a man. Unfortunately, due to a no-fraternization policy, that’s exactly what she’d have to do in order to have a relationship with Danny, so even though he tempts her, she can’t allow herself to go there. The only thing she will allow is one incredible, steamy night with him that was utterly delicious. A part of me was a little frustrated with Anne when she clearly breaks Danny’s heart, but of course, if there wasn’t a major conflict, which I fully expected, this would be the end of their story and there wouldn’t be another novel about them.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Reception and thought it was a great wrap-up to this prequel. There was a third part, but since it was my understanding that it was merely an excerpt of Consumed and I already have that book at the top of my TBR pile, I didn’t feel the need to read it. I am, however, extremely eager to get to Consumed to find out how Danny and Anne finally get their HEA. If this prequel is anything to go by, it should be amazing.
