Unseen Heart, Part One

Rate this book
Love sucks.

It’s an emotion that can cripple you—make you weak—something that pisses me the hell off each time I see the object of my desires.

It was never my intention to fall in love, but I did, and most of all with her.

She takes over my every waking moment and dominates my free will.

A woman whose world revolves around a man that will never see her as more than his best friend.

We are reliving the same story, yet this time, with a different protagonist.

You meet and fall into lust.

Play that dangerous game of cat and mouse that makes the spoils of victory worth it. You chase and she, the coquettish viper, enthralls you with her every smile. With the sway of her enticing hips while she stupidly follows the impossible: he will never be hers.

I hate her.

I love her.

F*ck you, Ashley.

Elena M. Reyes is the epitome of a Floridian and if she could live in her beloved flip-flops, she would.

As a small child, she was always intrigued by all forms of art: whether it was dancing to island rhythms, or painting with any medium she could get her hands on. Her passion for reading over the years has amassed her with hours of pleasure, but it wasn't until she stumbled upon fanfiction that her thirst to write overtook her world.

She’s a short and sassy Latina with an adorable pup, a kiddo that keeps her on her toes, and a husband who claims she’ll cause him to go bald prematurely. Lol

When Elena asked me to BETA read Unseen Heart, I was over the moon excited. I'd heard so much about the infamous Ashley, the Ashley all her readers seem to loathe with a fierce passion. My question was always why? Why did they hate her? But that's because I haven't read "I Saw You" which should absolutely be read before this. However, since Elena had given me little bits and pieces of what went on, I was quickly able to deduce why Ashley is such a hated character...

Problem is, even after finishing this installment, I don't hate her. Maybe I will after reading the first book, but as of now, I fully believe the girl is redeemable. Some of the things she's done are a little on the crazy side but all of it wasn't her fault. Yes, I said it. The predicaments she was placed in played a huge role in her actions, out of selfishness or not. Besides, she's a human being and we all make mistakes, and from her mistakes, she eventually learns.

While you get more of Tex's POV in this story than Ashley's, I loved the way both were written. You could feel how badly they hate each other, and yet, the love they force away is so utterly palpable, you feel it burn off the pages especially when they're together. Tex is one swoon-worthy man who thinks with his heart despite how much Ashley believes he thinks with his...well, you know. ;) All he wants is for Ashley to recognize the errors of her ways and better herself, for her to grow and blossom into the woman he knows she can be. The man so desperately wants to love her, but the woman can't be loved when she doesn't even love herself...

Cliffy haters...be aware. This baby ends on a HUGE one, BUT THIS IS A DUET, so before you go and get your panties in a twist, remember the story isn't over and part two will be here in just a couple months.

Prepare yourselves for a story full of twists and turns, lots of ups and downs too. There's even a little suspense thrown in the mix.

The burning question now is....through love and hate, will Tex and Ashley finally find their way?

"God, she felt good, like bliss. But this small taste of elation came with poisonous thorns."

I fell in love with Tex immediately!! His "sugar"? Not so much....but it worked. Tons of angst, and drama, and push/pull to keep me completely entertained throughout. It really picked up at the end, and left me with my jaw dropped, white knuckling my kindle, and salivating for the next book!!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!

"She was like an addiction to me; dangerous and inviting. A siren's call that could lure me to my demise."

Tex and Ashley is like a cat and mouse game. Ashley annoyed the hell out of me. I wanted to smack her so many times saying what a selfish person ever. Then Tex wow I love him and felt sorry for this unbelievable sexy, sweet man that puts up with so much crap cause his heart and soul is in love. Angst ride that makes you wanna throw your kindle but keep reading. I can’t wait to find out what happens next! 4/5 stars

This was my first book from the author. At first I was a little lost because I haven't read the series before this one. However, moving forward I was able to understand fully what was happening!

Tex and Ashley have a love/hate relationship going. The story is beautifully written and is full of angst, suspense and so many emotions. I was totally hooked and the story kept me interested through the whole book. The cliffhanger at the end seriously killed me and left me wanting more! I can't wait to see what will happen next!!

I was not a big fan of Ashley at all, and I still don't think I am. But I freaken love Tex and he loves her. I just wish she could the man he is and what he feels for her. Ashley is spoiled, selfish etc. But I think deep down she could be a good person. Before all the fame etc. She was that.

This picks up after I Saw You. Ashley is still spoiled believing the world revolves around her, but there is hope for her with Tex...Maybe. Ashley is someone you love to hate.

The story was well written and enjoyable. Elena has a way of drawing you in, keeping you there. There is angst of course, but there is also loyalty as well as humor.

The loyalty is tested making you wonder is it worth all the aggravation and pain.

The angst in the story is Ashley being...well Ashley. She has to pay for her crimes against her friends and to her, it is a bitter pill to swallow.

The story was well written by Ms. Reyes, I have read several of her books thus far and I have enjoyed each other them. There is tons of angst, yes, but she makes it realistic. People make poor decisions in their lives on a daily basis, mix in fame, money, etc and you have the making of even more drama. The end had my toes curling.

I will be honest, when I heard Ashley was getting a book of her own, I wasn’t happy. After the way she acted in I Saw You, I wasn’t too keen on reading her book. It says a lot about an author that can make you feel so much emotion for their character. Butttttttttt Elena M. Reyes has freaking done it again. I swear, my mindset when reading this book, was complete stubbornness. I was determined to hate her, and while it started off that way, it didn’t end that way. While Ashley still isn’t my favorite person, I felt for her during certain parts of the book. She is having to learn some tough lessons in this book, particularly about facing the consequences of her actions. There are moments when it seems like it hasn’t sunk in, but she is slowly learning her lesson. Especially the ending. My heart hurt, reading the last chapter (I also wanted to hunt Elena down for ending the book the way she did). Hahahahaha Although I was excited that Tex was getting his own story, because he absolutely deserves it. There were parts that I felt sorry for him because he was so sweet and put up with Ashley’s craziness because of how he felt for her. He was trying to help her own up to the mistakes she has made, and the damage she has caused. Although it killed him to do what he did, he had to do what he thought was best for them, with the hope she would see the error of her ways. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this book, although the cliffhanger will make you weep with sorrow. Elena, you are the only author who could willingly make me read a book that ends in such a good cliffhanger. I give this book a 5/5 and I look forward to part 2. See (read) you soon Tex and Ashley, I am biting my nails now waiting on part two.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Fuck you Ashley…I mean that alone should make you be like DAMN what’s up with that drama? IamIright????

Now I will say, I have not read I Saw You and I would recommend you do read it so you have a better understand of why in the hell Tex hates Ashley….LOL But honestly after reading the story you get it..you know why he hates Ashley…I mean I am not saying she didn’t deserve to be hated but she prolly did!! Look she is a straight up beeotch and uber selfish. I don’t care. I don’t like her…Come give me a cuddle Tex 😉

Ok so the review before you all think I am outta my mind which I kinda am but anyway………….
First up CLIFFHANGER so you have been warned. I don’t want to see any people complaining they did know because YO it’s in shouty caps for you!! Now I loves me a cliffhanger, but a lot of people don’t like it and I get that but DANG this one is crazy as a MO!!! SO if you are a cliffy hater then you might wanna wait til the final book releases!!

Tex and Ashley …man they need some Dr. Phil in their life. They are all about game playing and messing with each other because they hate each other so much but is it really hate or it is love…ya know that thin line and all that jazz.

I haven't read I Saw You, which I've heard recommended to read before this book, as the heroine, Ashley didn't used to be one to cheer for. So since I haven't, I'm not completely clued in to all of her hated deeds yet, but now I'm dying to know more of her backstory, but I don't hate her. She has made mistakes, but I don't feel like she should be totally be written off. Of course, that could be because of the amazingly talented Elena M. Reyes, who writes characters that are realistic & human, while making human mistakes tends to keep me on my toes. I do feel like I've been shown more into her complicated craziness with this story. She and Tex hate each other, there's no doubt about that, but you know what they say.....there's a thin line between love and hate. I believe he wants to love her, but she needs to love herself before any HEA is in her future. So yeah, this is the start to all of her complicated parts. It ends on a HUGE cliffy, but Ms. Reyes is already on the list of authors trying to kill me dead, so all I can do to her now is bump her up to #EVILWHOREQUEEN, even though I knew that a cliffy was in my future from the whole (Part One) in the title. I'm going to feel like I'm dying while waiting for the conclusion to this duet, but the rumor is that it's not going to be very long! Anyway, I'm all kinds of confused in my mind, and the review may not make sense, so I'm going to just end it by saying that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Elena...you are the woMAN!!! I loved getting so much of Tex's POV in this book, I didn't think I could handle too much of Ashley's and I'm glad this book eased me into it! lol I hated Ashley in I Saw You...and I mean HATED her! I cringed when I heard Elena was writing her story and said "Nope, not reading it." Then I said, "okay, I'll read it, but I absolutely won't love her!" I have to say I still don't love Ashley unless I say I love to hate her! :) She is definitely a unique character, but Tex...LOVED HIM! I really loved his hate for Ashley! lol He truly loves Ashley and just wants to help her heal and realized things around her and help her move on. However, Ashley can't even love herself! She's selfish and I just wanted to boob-punch her over and over!

Readers be warned: Cliffhanger!! (I am the queen of not reading books that end in a cliffy but I love Elena so much that I veered off course).

If you love drama and ups and downs, this is the book for you.

Going into this book I had some high expectations. As I have read some of this author’s other works and I loved them. Apparently my expectations were a little too high.

While reading this book it left me with more questions than answers. I felt as if I was missing a whole book before this one. I felt as if I was missing a back-story to the main characters. I had to go back to the synopsis multiple times to make sure there wasn’t in fact another book I had to read.

The characters left me with more to desire. Tex as hot and gorgeous as he is, I loved him to no end. If the cover is any indication of what he could look like in real life. I would mind licking him from head to toe. Now Ashley on the other hand no matter how hard I tried. I could not like her. I couldn’t connect with her like I have with some many other characters.

As much as I love this author, unfortunately this book just wasn’t for me. Although this was not my cup of tea I do encourage everyone to read the book and to form there own opinions. - By Vanessa

Holy!!
I have no words right now... Unseen Heart part 1 is Tex and Ashley's story.
We get to see the fallout from Ashley's choices from I Saw You.
Unseen Heart picks up where I Saw You ended. Ashley now has nobody in her corner and has to deal with no longer being involved with the band or even in her best friend's life.
Her hatred of Chester's girlfriend/Fiancé blinds her to see reason or that everything is actually her fault. I hate that Ashley blames everyone but herself...I refer to her as a psycho alot but with her behavior, what else am I supposed to refer to her as? Elena has knocked it out of the park with this one, she can't make me feel sorry for this character...yet or maybe ever. Only time will tell if Ms. Reyes can get me to feel sorry for Ashley. Can't wait for part 2 of this story!!❤

While I must admit-I starred at the cover for a good hour because-wow! Hotness! Once I actually got past the washboard stomach and deep v, I realized pretty quickly I was missing quite a bit of a backstory between Ashley and Tex.
I think with how much were intended to hate Ashley, that it not only makes us fall in much more love with Tex, but also foreshadows that something big is going to occur in the next book. I loved Tex to no end and wouldn’t mind picking up the pieces for him. Ashley, I hated on a whole new level that I actually found myself hating when she was in the picture at all.
You have to recognize that this is a cliffhanger, and a very crazy big one at that. If you’re not a fan of cliffhangers steer clear, but based solely on Tex I would advise you to put this book on your TbR list and read when you get a chance.

Yikes! This is an emotional stunner of a read with fantastic writing, an exciting rocker backdrop and characters that are so realistic they jump off the pages. I didn't read the previous book so I'm sure I missed out on some background with our couple but the prologue pretty much told the story. Tex's unrequited love/lust and Ashley' unique personality and her friendship with Chester. Tex and Ashley's relationship is full of conflict and volatile emotions and passion. I don't know how Ashley can resist Tex because he's hot! She needs a good shake or swat or something to get her right. Their love/hate relationship has over-the-top moments and heartache. But when her past rears it's ugly head the drama goes to the max. I fell in love with these flawed but beautiful characters and can't wait for the next story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.

Heart wrenching intense read. The story of Ashley and Tex. I was curious why the “F@ck you Ashley reference!
Omg, if I could have squeezed my hand through my kindle to choke her I would of. Then again, Tex needed a kick in the balls. What a tug of war, cat and mouse game. So much drama, so much so much. Full of twists and turns, I got sucked in and I needed to see what happened!
As much as these characters frustrated me, their story was immensely entertaining I wanted to see what happened.
Told in dual POV, their characters evolved and developed nicely and I cannot wait to see what happens.
And the ending...buckle up and get ready for book 2!

This is the first time I have read any of this authors’ work, and my word, I cannot wait to get 1 clicking! This is the first part of a duet, and is Tex and Ashley’s story, and the love / hate relationship they have going on. No spoilers; this is a must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a well written and beautiful story, which is filled with angst, twists, suspense, emotion, and is a gritty and heart-wrenching storyline. I was intrigued and hooked throughout, but be warned there is the dreaded huge cliffy! I cannot wait for the second book to find out what happens to this couple.

Oh the angst on this. I was really curious about Ashley and Tex since the I Saw You. I hated Ashley. Homegirl was on another level of crazy and had the author deviated from that in this book I would have lost interest, but she didn’t. Ashley maintains her earned certifiable psychotic bitch status and the author stays authentic to her character and although Tex was definitely surprising. His chill factor from i Saw you was in play, his hate blurred lines.

The plot kept my attention. Ashley was still the same cuntasaures, and the ending.. well I lll have to wait and see.

Texas has been in love with Ashley for years, but hasn't been ready to show it. Ashley let the fame of her best friend go to her head and it has cost her the family she built. Will Ashley be ready to accept her blame? Will Tex give up on her?

Have to admit that after I Saw You, Ashley is not my favorite person and this book just kind of dug herself a deeper hole. I absolutely love Tex and think he has the patience of a saint. I absolutely loved a look into these two characters and cannot wait for the second book to come out!

*Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

My first book by this author. You should definitely read the series before this to completely understand whats going on and why Ashley is hated so much. While reading through this book I did understand why a little bit. Everyone should get a second chance to redeem themselves. This book is mostly in the POV of Tex's. Huge Cliffhanger at the end because is part of a duet series. Totally recommend this book.

Dear god, I think this man is just, if not perfect, damn near perfect. He has a patience that goes beyond anything I can understand lol.
Ashley is such a spoiled brat i wanted to do her physical harm..she lashes out and hides cowardly instead of owning her mistakes.
I really hope in the next book she can show a massive change..for Tex's sake cause the poor man deserves everything.

This story had me confused from the start and it was a good confused.

Without reading the first one I’ve come to realize that I want to slap Ash no i want to spank her for her stubbornness.

She doesn’t realize what she has in front of her and it drives me crazy.

I give Tex so much credit for putting up with her, but when you love someone you do everything you can to try and make them see that.

Definitely a story that I will continue to the end.

This book blew me out of the water. To see characters that took on a life of their own and make the audience the the rife right along with them. It wasn’t what I was expected but I loved it nonetheless. I’m rooting for the cowboy to save his girl rather she likes it or not lol. I can’t wait for part two!

Cliffhanger…. But ohh so worth it! Sometimes it has to hurt a little to make it ohhhh so good!
Look, let’s talk about Ashley a little bit. This brat will push your limits. I can’t say I like her all that much, but she is growing on me. And then Tex. Holy Shit, Tex. Sweetheart, if part two doesn’t work out in your favor I’ll dry your tears! 
Ok, actual review… Get ready for a solid angsty book with all the feels and heart stings being pulled. This book is more from Tex’s standpoint and I love how Elena Reyes really wrote characters that make you feel. I have a feeling the more we see from Elena, the more we will be prepared to be blown away!
