I love this series. I really do. I started it a while back and only read up to about 7. The library didn't get any of the new books until maybe this winter? Not really sure. I've been slowly picking up one or two here and there to make them last. Because they're my fun, guilty pleasure! Why? Because I love them and they are so easy to read without having to think about plot and etc. It's just fun!
So after a bunch of drama where Sasha got kissed by her best friend's boyfriend on her birthday and then ending up lying when his girlfriend and her boyfriend (Sasha's that is) found them, things are finally clearing up. Her now ex-boyfriend, Ben, and her are friends again. She's now dating Jacob, the guy who kissed her. And Callie? Things aren't going anywhere with them really. And now her old roommate is in the "avoid" list as well. She told Callie about Sasha's lie, that she had kissed Jacob and not the other way around (which was how it really was).
Now in her new room with her new roommate (fellow small town girl and YENT rider, Brit) Sasha is pretty happy. Things are finally working out! She's getting along great with Heather, the sort of mean girl at school. She's the most popular too, she and Sasha used to fight terribly. But they've become friends now. The YENT team (an elite riding group with special, advanced lessons) is made up of Heather, Sasha, Brit, and now Callie. Which isn't awkward at all!
So far things have been going okay, they all now that they need to work together for the good of the team. But still. There's a nasty gossip blog that keeps attacking people, the headmistress has tracked it to Sasha and Brit's room and Heather room with her two friends, Julia and Alison. So they know it has to be one of them, right? But how? Whoever it is, they're going to be expelled when they're discovered!
Pros:This book was exciting! There was an accident, the blogger getting caught, another new girl popping up at Canterwood that had Sasha worried...but come on she can handle it! I really like Sasha and the others. I mean yeah it's dramatic and middle school-y but there are good morals and fun times hidden amongst the drama. And it's really a lovely mix of all things girly, boarding school, and horses. That's the reason I started the series in the first place, the horses! And they're a lovely addition to the books.
Cons:The characters don't seem to fit the age they've been assigned. They're supposed to be 12-13 and they seem more like 14-15. And still, I don't think 15 year olds should be dating. Just saying, personal opinion. I love the books and the characters, they just seem older in my head than 12!
Content:Minor cuss words like suck or crap...possibly! I'm not sure, I think I remember a suck or two. But really, this is a clean book. There's the gossip blog, some drama, and maybe one or two brief kisses.
Overall, this book is so sweet and fun and I loved it. I really do!! This series just makes me happy and a little silly. But while it's fun, it is serious at the same time and when it needs to be. It's a great, clean series :) I would recommend to teen and tween girls who like horses and a little fun drama :)
