"Why did I leave the 10-pin on that shot?" "Why isn't my ball hitting the pocket anymore?" "Should I change balls, or move?" "How heavy should my ball be?" "What's the best bowling ball?" "How do I get more hook?" "Why do I keep missing my spares?" We are faced with endless questions, problems, and choices every time we bowl. Answers and solutions abound, but a great many of them are ineffective or just plain wrong. How do we know what to do? How do we know what to believe? In this book we examine: What doesn't work, and what most bowlers have wrong. What's really happening on the lanes, and how things really work. What you need to change to get back to striking. How to properly make that change. This is not a basic "how to bowl" book. It will benefit bowlers at all skill levels, from league and recreational play through PBA pros. Everything in this book is backed up with facts and science, not opinion. We teach you how to figure out exactly what's wrong with your shot. We show you all of the adjustments available to you, explain what each one actually does, and show you how and when to apply it. We give you strategies that will improve your lane play and your decision making. Finally, we teach you a mathematically sound spare system that will simplify your game and make picking up your spares an easy proposition. We give you all of the knowledge and tools you need to take your game to the next level and become the bowler you want to be.
The absolute BEST Bowling book I have ever read. Okay, honestly? It's the only Bowling book I've ever read.
But it's really good. Admittedly, I wanted to give it 4 stars because the first 9 Chapters were extremely technical - a bit overdone. I can't imagine any bowler getting drawn in to it. But there was still some good stuff in the first part of the book, so you kind of have to read it to catch it all.
Starting in Chapter 10 (if my memory serves me) things really started to take off.
Because there is so much value in this book, I'm giving it 5 stars.
At minimum, if you bowl in a league you should read this book. You will definitely learn some things and also have most everything you've ever heard at the bowling alley debunked.
This book while a long read is worth the time spent. I could see my average improving by applying just few of the ideas within. Then my doctor thinking he was going to remove a cyst on my thumb found a tumor and ending my right handed bowling permanently so now this book is going to help me learn to throw from the other side of the lane, lefty. Instead of being scared of the change i am excited to start. I highly recommend this book for every bowler. I have bought copies for my bowling friends.
The technical book I always wanted to read but did not know it existed, complements well books about the mental aspect of the game a does what it sets out to do. Highly recommend to all bowlers regardless of their experience.
