Vince, the dragon shifter, sees the danger that humans represent as they become numerous and their inventiveness creates ever more powerful weapons. Set in the year 1751, this book steps back in time to set up the danger which the Dry Lake Pack and all shifters now face. Vince envisioned the shifter council to govern and to protect shifters in the event of discovery. Korbin, the king of the wolf shifters, lay dying of a poisoned arrow through his chest when Vince arrived to speak with him about his plan. The two form a bond nearly as close as mates. They both believed that the bond would be severed when one of them found their mate. The two powerful allies become the first members of the shifter council. Not all goes smoothly, however. When Korbin's true mate is discovered, he assumes that his bond to Vince was severed. He was wrong. The three must find a way to cope with the bond that ties Vince and Korbin, together before it costs Vince his life. The shifter council and their plans for the future hang in the balance and with it, the survival of all shifters.
This was a great back story to how Dry Lake and the shifters came to be. Do I have any idea what the epilogue meant? Nope. Do I really care? Not really - this whole series has been a fun ride and I'm more than invested to keep going!
The best news, IMO, is that this book is almost free of editing errors. In my review of the 5th book in the series I noted how distracting the errors were and how they ruined the flow of the (otherwise great!) stories - I'm so glad to see that remedied here!
The Dragon's Plan gives a bit of history to the shifter world of the present in the Dry Lake Pack series. We meet wolf shifter Mornin who forges a special bond with Dragon shifter Vince. Then there is Korbin's true mate Collin. It is a well written, intriguing and highly entertaining story. I definitely recommend it.
I thought it was awesome to learn a bit more about the start of the shifter council. The ending (I will say nothing, no worries) leaves soooooo many questions and soooo much anticipation for the rest of this series!
Disspointed a little not keen on books that go back in time. I understand what the writer was doing with book trying to explain history behind everything. Though not my cup of tea glad i read it as it as it answered so un answered questions.
I really did like this book however it didn't seem fair that other books were allotted triads and boor Vince had to suffer as being the 3rd wheel in a true mating between two other people.
Well written story and well developed characters! This is a back story and explains so much! I love this series and can't wait to get read the next book!
