I'm going to say that I am a fan of the original Vampire for Hire series by JR Rain. I realize different authors have a different flavor. That being said, I still felt that this author's dialogue seemed very awkward to me. Some of the things said just didn't even make sense and I had to reread them again. Also, the entire book led up to the big showdown with no thrills before then, just the setting up for the big event. It was a bit boring actually. Typically there are a few smaller action scenes before then but in this book, nothing. Just a lot of talk. And most authors understand that a reader wants the story to unfold, not to have the story told to them- otherwise it reads more like a text book, and that's what this book did. I did finish it as it was a review book given to me. I gave the book 3 stars (instead of less) mainly because I know the whole history from reading all of the original author's books and because this book really wasn't that long. I really hope this author takes my review to heart as I would like to read a good book in this series.

'I received a complimentary copy from the author in exchange for an honest review'

4.5 Hearts

First off, I'm a huge fan of the Samantha Moon series and now her son Anthony is getting his own series!

I love what HT has done with Anthony's character. I absolutely love the interactions he has with his mom, Samantha Moon. Anthony's friendship with his best friend and his budding romance with Katherine as well as the Fire Warrior all add to the story. I thought that it was very well written and I can't wait for the next one. A must read even if you haven't read the Samantha Moon books!

Anthony Moon is ok

I don’t think that HT Night did Anthony justice. Definitely needs more character development and rounding out. There is a critical piece of the story, the amulet, which has no reason to exist other than a prop. And for all its importance is forgotten about entirely after it gives him a clue. And is never seen again. Doesn’t help with the battle or imbue and power or insight to its owner. Why the creature is seeking it is never explained. Anyway. This should be considered a “roughing out” story. Also I’m not liking his interaction/relationship with his mom. The sweetness and deep commitment are totally absent.

This series has H.T. Night writing about Anthony who is J.R. Rain's character in his books. It works and is a dream come true combining the 2 author's works together! Anthony is Samantha Moon's son and has powers of his own. He begins investigating an old murder case and his heart goes out to his client. He may even have to use his powers to protect his client as the investigation goes on. I couldn't put this book down until I sadly turned to the last page. Sadness due to story ending! I would greatly recommend this book and others of H.T.'s. I recieved an ARC for an honest review.

Anthony Moon kicks butt

Anthony Moon goes back to school and meets Katherine. They start talking and she tells him of her mother's murder and gets his first case. Little does he know, he might have to summon his fire warrior to protect Katherine, Barry and the world. Great writing H.T. I loved it!

I liked it, but am used to the way JR Rain writes, so it took awhile to get used to. But how did Detective Sherbet get so old? Anthony aged about 5 years, but the detective aged a lot more. I don't know if his age was ever in the Samantha Moon books, but I certainly never thought he was over 55. Just my assumption. I hope Anthony gets to work with his mom or sister sometime.

Reads like a YA story

Yes, this book advances the Moon family stories. But, the timeline is skewed. Anthony is 18, while (retired) Detective Sherbet is 80 years old, Jacky is even older and no longer owns the gym. Story feels juvenile, to me, as well as the plot, itself. Don't want to expound further than that as too easy to expose spoilers.

Great book for the SCI-FI and FANTASY readers!

Really enjoyed this book by H T NIGHT, he is an excellent author. Giving super powers to Sam Moon's son was a fantastic idea. He becomes the FIRE WARRIOR and saves his girlfriend. Don't want to ruin the book for you, but it is definitely worth reading.

Poetic license should be revoked

I love the Sam Moon storyline. I've read all of JR Rain's book and most of the others. Some deviate a little from the original story. This one completely ignores it at times. The author has compoetrry thrown continuity in details out the window. It is frustrating to read it and see all the blatant discrepancies.

Great Read!

Fast paced and a wonderful way of continuing the Vampire For Hire universe! The only distraction with this book was the awful proof reading because there were many errors. Otherwise it was great to imagine Anthony falling in love and working a case just like his mother does. Many Thanks to HT Night for this story.

Really good

I wasn't sure I'd like this book. I have read a few Samantha Moon books. However I thought I'd give it a go and I enjoyed reading it. Anthony Moon is quite the lad and a fighter. Well worth five stars.
