BioWare is a Canadian video game developer based in Edmonton, Alberta. It was founded in May 1995 by newly graduated medical doctors Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, alongside Trent Oster, Brent Oster, Marcel Zeschuk and Augustine Yip. As of 2007, the company is owned by American publisher Electronic Arts.
BioWare specializes in role-playing video games, and achieved recognition for developing highly praised and successful licensed franchises: Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. They proceeded to make several other successful games based on original intellectual property: Jade Empire, the Mass Effect series, and the Dragon Age series. In 2011, BioWare launched their first massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Both concept art and stunning full color illustrations from the creators of Anthem. Some of the art is realistic enough to look like photos. I have not played the game but it looks fabulous from the art.
Received a review copy from Dark Horse and Edelweiss. All thoughts are my own and in no way influenced by the aforementioned.
I will start with a few admissions - always a great way to start I think - what is the phrase better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Well I have always loved science fiction and all things connected to it. As a result it has helped shaped my life and as a result always keep an eye out for related items and topics.
So concept artwork from an unashamedly science fiction focused computer game will always draw my attention. However that is not all - as you can imagine great artists are not that common and it is common for them to freelance on various projects so some of these pieces I have seen already although not in their true content.
So this book is a lavish display of imagination and creativity - something I dream of but will never reach - and I accept that, so in the mean time I might as well appreciate the talent of others.
This is a great art book with wonderful illustrations and lore text describing development and early ideas for Anthem. Even reading the ebook I was highly satisfied with it.
