Game's End is the third book in the Like Flies trilogy. In the second book, The Wildcard, Green and Baldur enlist the support of rock musician Orpheus to win the Game. Now, there is a new ruler in Asgard, and the Game is over. But Set does not accept the authority of the new Queen. For the first time in millennia, war has broken out among the immortals, and this time, it will be fought to the death.
Against this background, a prophecy has foretold that with the end of the Game, not only humans but also gods will face destruction. To have any hope of survival, Baldur and Green need to find the ancient power that lies beyond both gods and men. But what does She want, and will She help?
Hi, I'm Fallacious Rose. I also write under the pen name F.L.Rose.
I live on the gorgeous east coast of Australia with my spoilt kelpie, Darcy, and a possum called Edith. I write in a wide range of genres, including some you've never heard of (culinary philosophy, anyone?). I divide my time between writing (of course) and painting truly terrible portraits of my friends. I don't have a lot of friends, come to think of it...
One of the most unusual paranormal trilogies I’ve ever read. Every tale from this author is original with her trademark quirk. Fallacious Rose’s work is always different, witty and engaging!
Humans are but tokens in the god’s game. A winner has just been declared, but unlike any other god, Isis refuses to have the board cleared, eliminating all life on Earth so that a new game can begin. Instead she believes the warning written in the language of the gods on the back of a token, Green, is truly a warning from some unknown higher god that all will perish if she follows tradition and wipes the board.
Her decision is only a delay in the end of all creation. Green and Baldur, the gods she loves and loves her in return, are responsible for seeking out this mysterious god and defeating them or at least bargain for mercy. They have only seven days.
Will Balder and Green succeed in finding this god? Can they hope to change a god’s mind? Not if Set and Naina, Baldur’s wife, have a say in the matter! Set has long since sought to eliminate Green from the game. To this end he has enlisted Naina. The vengeance of this jealous wife is to be feared. Are Green and her loved ones ever going to be safe from this menace?
But the details of existence are so well told, it's easy to suspend disbelief and hope for that wondrous happy ending, once you accept that this amazing hash of multiple mythologies could exist at all.
Regardless, I couldn't stop reading until it ended far too soon. Plosh, they landed on the beach, safe and sound and ready for the next beer. I still don't quite get why, but then I didn't read the first two books.
No matter; it was a cosmic romp. Who knew that Lucifer could resemble Mary Poppins?
The game is finally over but the new queen is unliked and war has come for the first time. Can the queen reverse the way the people feel? Who will win the war? How will it all end? See how if it does I received an advanced copy and I enjoyed it so much that I want to review
