Jacqui Shepherd, children's author, was born in Zimbabwe, started her schooling years in England and now resides in South Africa. As a child her favourite books were Winnie the Pooh and Dr. Seuss. She is a big Roald Dahl fan. Jacqui first began creating stories to amuse her four children. Although Jacqui's children are now grown up and making their own way in the world, they remain her inspiration. Jacqui inherited her storytelling talent from her father, Lancelot Steven Shepherd, and in loving memory of him she publishes all her work under her maiden name. Although all of Jacqui's stories are entertaining, some of them have the the added benefit of important lessons, which equip children with values and attitudes that help them in their daily lives. Jacqui believes it is important to read to a child and to teach a child to love reading. She is in full agreement with the famous Dr. Seuss quote, "You are never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child."
