Islamophobia and the Ideological Assault From the Past to the Present Volume 1: How Foreign Beliefs Caused the Decline of Muslim Civilization

Rate this book
This work endeavors to connect two somewhat different concepts in a broad historical context. The first topic, Islamophobia, is generally defined as “the fear, hatred of, or prejudice against, the Islamic religion or Muslims generally,” especially when Islam and Muslims are conflated with terrorism and regression. The second broad subject matter is the ideological assault — a reference to the perceived contrariness of Islam to Western thought, in as much as that the Western mind feels compelled to dilute and reinterpret Islam to its own liking and comfortability. The implicit bias in this way of thinking is that Islam — in its earliest original teachings — poses some threat to Western thought and its notions of civilization, progress, modernity, and freedom. This is the overarching subject of the entire book. This volume addresses in detail the incremental decline of Muslim civilization due to the onslaught of foreign ideologies and how this resulted in both the Crusades and Mongol Invasions. It discusses how the dual threat of speculative philosophy and gnostic mysticism eroded the roots of the tree of faith, making the community of believers prone and vulnerable. This is a book that will leave you in awe having finished it.

The world we live in today is arguably the most peaceful in comparison to earlier times in history, but this doesn’t mean there aren’t contestant raging wars of a different kind going on. The battle of ideas is constantly ongoing, and if you are unarmed then you risk falling for any poison that may be presented to you.

Reading this book, you will understand the roots of how the Islamic Religion is established and the works of the Philosophers, Gnostics and Innovators throughout history striving to alter it.

I was personally astounded as to the depth of which the Islamic Scholars of the Past (from amongst the Righteous Salaf) addressed the issues facing their times, and was even more shocked to understand the the basic issues they strove against back the. were still issues that the Muslim of today needs to be equipped to deal with. Islamic Scholarship has an extremely rich history in terms of both its quality and content, I cannot even begin to imagine how much I am missing out on due to my inability to speak, read and understand Arabic fluently!

The Author, Umar Quinn has done the English Speaking Muslim community a huge service by writing this incredible book, and I hope this will burst open the floodgates for more books like this available in both hardcover and digital formats.

An absolute must read for the Muslim wishing to understand his Religion.
