Will Carrie Jo fix her mistakes, or has she forever changed their future? All the Summer Roses is Book Two of the Return to Seven Sisters series.
DNF. This series had so much potential, but it's degenerated into madness. I've continued reading with a rather sick fascination to see what new twisted scenarios Bullock could foist on her dear readers in each new installment without tying up the myriad of loose threads, adequately explaining contradictions or fixing the horrendous grammar and dialogue. The entire Seven Sisters series has been beaten to death and strung along through the mud long enough. That, and I'm completely over Carrie Jo's attitude. She's generally whiny, selfish, and superior, makes a LOT of mistakes and it's often her family & loved ones that pay the price.
All the Summer Roses: Return to Seven Sisters Book 2 is by ML Bullock. This series brings Ashland and Carrie Jo back to Seven Sisters to make their home here. They hope they can live in peace with any remaining ghosts.
When Ashland and Carrie Jo bring their son back to Seven sisters, they are hoping for the best. They both fell in love with the house when they worked together on its restoration. Ashland’s family had owned the house at one time which made it special. However, Carrie Jo was a dream caller. When she went to sleep, she would go walking among the ghosts of the past. This helped make her a great historian; but it definitely played on her nerves. She never knew where her walking would take her, no who she might meet. The ghosts could be friendly or very dangerous. At first, she couldn’t control her dream walking; but soon learned to control it better. While restoring the home, the two of them had learned about the family and what happened in the past. They met both ghosts who wanted their help or wanted to help them; but they also meet ghosts who were mean and evil and wanted total control themselves. Both Ashland and Carrie Jo hoped they could live in peace with any ghosts left.
As they settled into the house, Carrie Jo ‘s dreams became more complicated and less under her control. New ghosts appeared along with some old friends. She began to make some mistakes in her dreams which began to affect her real life. Finally, she sought help from a friend. Austin began walking with her in situations that he controlled. They began to make a plan to reverse her earlier mistakes which should calm the ghosts down. If they were wrong, they could make the situation much worse.
Well this jumped the shark., Ridiculous. Why am I still reading these? Because I’ve read everything else I guess. Ghost stories are okey but I draw the line at people being able to cross back and forth. When you cross over the cares of the world fall away. The liberties she has taken with David Garrett! ..lazy writing .. couldn’t figure out a good way to complete his story..? Ashland’s issues came out of nowhere and make no since. Now there are cliffhangers which I don’t tolerate. Why does she still bother with the epilogues that often mean nothing and their wrongness from book to book cheapen them. It’s obvious she kept meaning for the books to be concluded then thinks of some thing else and writes another one that doesn’t quite fit. Like an oval going though a round whole.
Here I am again...on another adventure with CJ and Ash. I knew Austin was David Garret- I have to get that out before I go on. I have been so engaged with this entire series from Seven Sisters to Idlewood. I sit here now and I feel helpless. What happened to Ash? Did he make it? What about Detra Ann and Henri? How did the baby fair? SO MANY QUESTIONS left unanswered. I NEED MORE.
Great story. Great plot twists. Great action and characters who really jump off the pages. Onto Sugar Hill!
The story is so riveting and vibrant, the mysteries intense and building. I need the next book, I am so caught up in this story from the very beginning to current. I have so many questions that on!y the characters can answer. I never feel like I am left hanging more like longing for the answers to come.
Love this series. The more I read the more I understand and can put the pieces together if the past. Looking forward to book 3 in this series. So far I have not found an M.L. Bullock book that I didn’t like.
I loved this continuation of the Seven Sister's story, it is lovely to see how the characters evolve. I cannot wait to read the next in the series, I need to know what happens.
I was glad to hear CJ was able to put it back. I wonder what happened to Lafonda? According to the news articles she was fine! I can't wait to see what has happened to Ash. I'm sure he will be fine. Still I can't wait to read the next one!
