Kink with comedy

This was a really good story. Maisy has a secret wish, she is highly curious about life in the BDSM lifestyle. So when she goes online to look up something’s about the life, she gets an invitation to check out Club Drift. Of course she has to go! Especially after hearing the voice of a Dom inviting her.

“A promising new series starting with Club Drift”

I received an Advance Reader Copy for MAISY’S KEEPER: Club Drift, Book #1 (The Club Drift Series 1) written by Saffron Hayes and voluntarily reviewed this book. Dan was roped by the owner of Club Drift, Claude, to take on a new submissive and mentor her with hands-on training before she can join the rest of the club’s patrons. He hasn’t had a submissive in five years, but he knows that this task will be easier to swallow because the situation will only be temporary. But as they get closer with their exploration of the BDSM lifestyle, will they be able to control their hearts in the process?

I really enjoyed the characters, especially Dan, who was caring and watchful over Maisy during her journey in self discovery. While unsure of how deeply she wanted to delve into this life, she learns much with the caring guidance of her her Sir. Maisy welcomes a real-life opportunity to express herself and to come into her own, out of a less-than-ideal work situation.

Awww haha

4 stars because of the imbalance with her forgiving him so fast (I’ll get to it) and because of the small things that made me upset as a fan wanting blood, but you can’t have it all I guess.

I reread the first book in the Shadowlands series and really wanted something similar, and I found this. I took a chance, liked the reviews, and I’m glad I read this. It started off cute with Maisy’s life being built up and her intro to the club was a heady reality/dream check where you don’t know what’s “real” and what matters. I think she was maybe a little too clean cut as a sub being introduced but the author did a good job at showing her feelings about exploring it all and trying to express what she felt from reading all those books and never finding a reality to live up to them. Can tooooootally relate!

The Dan drama was good too. I totally bawled my eyes out at the appropriate times I won’t go into detail over, and while I agree that he sort of had grounds for his actions, it seemed to lessen with how quick he was to change his mind on what he’d originally deemed as “okay”. Stuff like that, when handled quick, makes the characters’ actions seem… less thought out. Kinda like the last season of GoT with everything on hyper speed and it all just looks weird instead of impressive. I still loved the book and it’s because of how good it was going that those two instances stand out so much. Him suddenly saying “ok I get it” and her being like “yes” so fast wasn’t good for me. Otherwise, I really did like it all.

Loved it, really. The club, the people, the Doms. I hope the next one gives me the same feels.

TBH, I don't think that Dan was a very good Dom, especially for a completely unexperienced sub.
1. On the night that Dan and Maisy were in the Boutique room, Dan was completely unfair to Maisy. He was deliberately forcing her to disobey him so that he could punish her.
2. After they had sex for the first time, when Maisy was practically incoherent with exhaustion and confusion, he completely ignored her while he cleaned up the room and then made her walk on her own out to the social area before he offered her any aftercare. Aftercare of his sub should have been his FIRST priority.
3. More than once, he gave her no way to safe word when he made her perform oral sex on him while restrained.
4. He sent her into severe sub drop without realizing how far gone she was.
Also, I found the end of the book to be a bit rushed; Maisy was way too quick to forgive Dan for publicly dumping her in the club in front of everyone.
Still, I did enjoy the book.

Exciting new BDS M series.

I really enjoyed reading "Maisy's Keeper" Saffron Hayes' first book in her Club Drift series.  I thought the characters were well developed and likable.  As a reader I could really appreciate Maisy's journey to discovering who she really was and what she needed to make her life happy. The chemistry between Maisy and Daniel jumped off the pages. While the path to their HEA had some bumps the plot held my attention till the very last page.  I think the secondary characters were interesting in their own right and I look forward Wiliam's story.

Great read

I really enjoyed this book. Great characters....I looked for the second book and I can't believe this is Saffron Hayes' first book!! So well written, funny in places, believable and hot too. I couldn't put it down. It will be good to follow Maisie and Dan through the rest of the series. Can't wait for the next one.

Well written, sexy novel

The unusual beginning romance between Maisy and Daniel as she explores the world of BDSM is well written with characters you grow to care about, humor that amuses you and beautifully described scenes that are interesting to picture. I read C. Sinclair and think if you like her style of writing, you will enjoy this novel.

She got it right

I looked into this after making some friends who live the lifestyle and this is very real. Loads of creeps posing as Doms just looking for hook ups. After care is never talked about. I laughed when my massage therapist asked me for a safe word. I was lucky I knew what she was talking about

Taking a chance with a new author in the BDSM Romance genre is scary. Saffron Hayes is no risk, all reward! Tight story, good character development and hot sex! I cannot wait to see where this series goes!

Good

I enjoyed the book. There are too many grammatical errors, but the story was good. The story was predictable, too.

Well represented

Author wrote well about a Maisey's journey into bdsm. A journey in the best sense with a mentor and support system.

Loved the premise of the story, the characters seemed like “real” people that I’d enjoy knowing. Looking forward to reading more from Saffron Hayes and more stories in “Club Drift”

More of Club Drift, please!

I have a new favorite romance author, and hope there are more like ‘Maisy’ in the works!

What I loved:
—The colloquial British English fairly crackles; who needs an audiobook when the character voices are so vivid and distinct.
—Dan’s tenderness and care for Maisy, especially in the small moments: the gentle kisses, the snuggles, and the whispered encouragement. That’s the dream Dom, right?
—How beautifully Dan explains the balances of power exchanges. I don’t see this done well in a lot of the “kink newbie” kinds of stories, and it should be more common. Hayes makes kink ethics sexy.
—That the book shows how freeing a healthy kink community can be for people who’ve felt like something is wrong with them their whole lives. The healing power of friendship, acceptance, and understanding.

I have some quibbles, but they didn’t damage how much I loved the book.

One is that I wish Maisy had shown more of her sparkiness in the beginning. She came off as a little pathetic. Thankfully the giggling and annoying bashfulness didn’t last long.

The other disappointment was Dan’s crisis. It flared up out of the blue and he never apologized properly for it, which felt a little odd given how attention to communication and accountability was so strong elsewhere in the book, and in the ethos of the club.

P.S. I want to know what happened to Jenna.
