‘Crank’
The Devil’s Highwaymen Nomads #1

I found my deliverance in the form of a bottle of whiskey and a woman named Hope.

Hope was the opposite of everything I stood for and believed in; she was innocent and pure and beautiful in a way that was soul deep, yet I couldn’t help falling for her. We only had one night—just mere moments in a lifetime really, but it was enough to change me forever.

Maria tasted like venom and looked like sin. She was beautiful and poisonous. She was dangerous—way more than I knew at the time, and she never pretended to be anything but my worst nightmare.
I never stood a chance.

Whiskey was bad for me, but in the end, Maria was probably worse.

I was young, too young to have seen the things I had. On the run from my past. Chasing my nightmares away with sex and booze and praying to any god that might be listening to finish me off sooner rather than later.

The day our worlds collided was the day that everything came apart. Our lives were set on a path that none of us could change.

Maria was my Demon.
And whiskey was my escape.
But Hope? She was my redemption

I guess I’m just not understanding what the point was? The H and h meet briefly, share a kiss and that’s it. That’s the only interaction they have.

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

Right after he rejects the h and leaves her he has sex minutes later with another woman right up against the wall of the building that the h is staying in. The h then “disappears”.

Some fighting stuff happened in the middle and by the 80%ish mark I was thinking how is this going to wrap up. The only sex involved OW which seemed odd considering what I’m reading.

**MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD**

At the end, the H finds the h DEAD IN THE ROOM HE LEFT HER IN. Like WTF. So we get one scene with the MC’s together, sex with OW, a dead h, then an abrupt ending. I don’t know man. I’ve never read anything like this and I gotta say I just didn’t enjoy it.

4.5 Stars. Crank aka Dillon has had a very tough life. This is his story and goes into detail about he came to join the club. He was rescued by the club prez and gradually grew to understand what love of family means. It's a heart breaking tale of lost love and the lessons you learn along the way. Crank learned many lessons and I hope to read about Crank again that includes a HEA. This one is filled with grit, violence but also filled with love.

This is book one in The Devils Highwaymen Nomads series. Crank is the first book and what a fabulous start to the series. I literally inhaled it in one sitting.

From the start I couldn’t get enough of Crank. One night with Hope will change his life forever. Maria is his demon. I loved how this story is told. We get to hear how Dillon joined the MC and got his name Crank.

A brilliant read. Can’t wait to read more of this series.

The nomads are my new favorite MC. This is a fast read. I read it in 48 hours because i had to know how it ended. This is better than your typical MC romance. It has a dark twist. Love it love it.

Cee Cee Riley packs another punch with this very gritty and tragically heartbreaking tale of Crank, the first of the Highwaymen Nomads and someone I can't help but love and want to hold.
His life was harsh and unforgiving, and that's how he lived and treated the rest of world. No mercy, for he never received any. Always looking for a fight, to feel something other than the aching hole inside his. The lose and the rage. Until he wants to deck the wrong man. A man that wants to show him another way of life. Offer him a family. A brotherhood. A place to belong.
It's more than he could ever have hopes for. To belong. To be needed.
Until Hope. And Marie. Until he might as well burn it all to the ground.
It's a harsh world and Crank knows all about it. But Hope will always be with him. Right where she belongs.
More of a 4.5 star read so do not let the four stars fool you. This one definitely sets the scene for the Nomads and their travels.

I hope have not spoiled anything!

I received an ARC of Crank and have freely given my review.

AFUCKINGMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Claire you ripped my heart out and had me crying and screaming at my kindle but I loved every moment of it. My poor poor Crank God I just love him to pieces. A lost soul wandering in the world fighting to feel something, anything but the despair he feels.

When Crank meets Bull his life is forever changed and he finds a family but he still feels that loneliness. Then he meets Hope and everything changes for him because he starts to feel but you know what they say about a broken man when he's broke it takes a lot to mend him back together and Hope has it but Crank still feels like he doesn't deserve happiness so he walks away from her. (insert buckets of tears)

With club stuff coming at Crank all he can seem to think about is Hope and his club. Can he get Hope back and they have their HEA they deserve? Well you have to read it to find out and I will tell you the ending had me screaming at my kindle like a crazy ass loon! Thank you C.C. for this beautiful heart wrenching story!

Crank is book 1 in Claire C. Riley new MC series called The Devil's Highwaymen Nomads. If you read and liked her first series The Devil's Highway MC, then you would love this new story. This' s a spin-off series featuring the Devil's Highwaymen Nomads and including cameos from some of your favorite Highwaymen. In book one Cee Cee take us in an emotional journey to know Dillon 'Crank'. The plot is a little dark and fast pace, great characters and not your normal biker romance. No Spoilers!!
I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC gifted to me by the author with no obligation. It's a must read MC series that I highly recommend. Already desperate for book two!!!!!

A Different MC Story

I want start by saying this is not your typical MC romance. Crank and Hope’s story is gritty, raw, real, and heartbreaking. Dillon is a young man that lived through so much bad in his life that he learned to embrace the darkness. Finally finding a place that he felt he belonged with the Devil’s Highwaymen, Crank realizes that the choices you make in a moment, impact and change your life forever. This book takes twists that you will not see coming. It sets up the Nomad series with characters that draw you in and will keep you coming back for more. I can’t wait for Book 2!

So this is the first in the new series The Devils Highwaymen Nomads and I loved it from start to finish.
Dillon/Crank has a dark past, he meets Bull and joins The Devils Highwaymen as a prospect
Hope is not all she seems and she meets Dillon at a Devils Highwaymen party.
The attraction between them is instant but no matter how much Dillon wants her he walks away believing that she deserves better than him and then Hope disappears. While trying to deal with club business and his own dark past he constantly has Hope on his mind.
This is a fast paced book and you find yourself wanting more. I wasn’t expecting the ending and you just can’t help but feel for Dillon. Looking forward to reading book 2 in the series.
I received an ARC copy in return for an honest review

*WARNING* contains explicit adult sexual situations and violence
This was not at all what I expected. This isn't really about an MC or MC life. This seems to be mostly about the life of Dillon. This book tells how Dillon came to know, Bull, how he got his respect, how he got patched in, and how he got the road name of Crank. It tells a little of MC life, but only what pertains to or involves Crank. There is no HEA for your favorite couple. This story was okay, but I would have liked to know more about some of the other things going on. It's definitely different from mist MC books i've read.

I think we all know that MC books can be violent and brutal but emotional is not a word I usually would use but this book gutted me.

Your waiting for the world to the Crank a break willing him not to give up. But even strong men like Crank have a breaking point don't they? We meet lots of characters in this book and the potential for lots of stories is huge. The ending was unexoected and I hope we get more of Crank as I have a feeling he's got much more to come.

I'm just gonna start by saying this is more than just a book....this is page turning, raw and powerful..
Crank and Hope have a bond even if it is short lived. Crank has many secrets that make him want to run. Such a Powerful punch and lots of strong feelings and strong characters that makes this story more. All the characters have more to give and I love how it made me want more but not wanting this story to end. I want more Crank!!!
Cee Cee Riley you have outdone yourself once again with another heart gripping story that makes you want more....and I need more!!! Well done and a massive congratulations on Crank x

I haven't read an MC book in ages.

This is the first book in the new series from Claire Riley. Very well written.

I really enjoyed this one it was different from others I have read, I found this one pretty emotional but it was great loved the storyline as heartbreaking as it was loved the characters. this one is about Crank and how he ended up with the MC. I really like his character.

I’m not sure how to review this story. To me it was more of a prelude to what is going to come with other characters that we met in this book and maybe Crank will get another story (I can hope). I liked being in his head. This wasn’t a pretty read but I can see how it introduced us to a whole world that will only get bigger as the series goes. I really did enjoy the fast paced nature of the story and just the overall plot line. Be warned that this isn’t your typical romance but it was beautiful none the less. 4 stars #2OCCJD

This is the first in a new series by Cee Cee Riley.

Although Crank's life experiences and actions make this 'dark', it's incredibly easy to read and sets the scene beautifully for future additions to the lives and loves of The Devil's Highwaymen.

I'm looking forward to finding out what the author has in store for us as we travel with the nomads of this motorcycle club.

This one was hard for me to rate because of...well, you have to read it for yourself. To say it kept my attention is an understatement. You can’t help but feel for Crank and hope that he gets a good life. No spoilers but the ending killed me. So not what I was expecting.

Not your typical romance but I couldn't get enough, this was either short or I finished it in a blink, I was hooked.

164 pages of grit, sadness and a plot that is more like a background story leading you up-to present day with Cranks journey.

The story is of course about Crank, how he ended up in an MC, how he got his road name, who his new family are, what his demons were, what he was running from and takes you right up-to present day leaving you with a hunger for more.

The author doesn't give anything away about Cranks past and you are given cryptic clues until pivotal points in the plot.

It was quite a roller-coaster read with heartbreaking moments.

Crank was a good MC read that has me also wanting to know Sketch's story too and wanting more of Crank now that he has gone Nomad and is embarking on a new journey, hopefully he will find love, hopefully he will quieten the demons that still haunt him.

This story feels so sad. It touches the deepest feelings for the characters. From feeling alone, being disappointed with the hand that was dealt to them, to also recognizing how bad and how low they can fall. But even with that and with this book taking an unexpected turn all because of petty jealousy, the story still makes you look forward to a change. To something better. It gives you hope. Crank still has more of his story to be told. I'm sure this is not the end of him. And whatever comes next will be good for him.

So Unexpectedly Fantastic!!

Ok, this book just floored me! It was so unexpectedly good I can't even tell you , you just have to one click and find out for yourself. I will say it's so worth the fact that it's not a typical romance. A real heartbreaking breath of fresh air . I highly recommend this one and I'm immediately diving into number 2. If it's anything like the first this series is going straight to the top 10 of my reread list . :-)

THIS WAS A MC BOOK WITH A DIFFERENCE. IT WAS GOOD TO SEE THE PROGRESSION OF THE CHARACTER AND HIS ATTRACTION TO HOPE. AN EASY FLOW OF WRITING MADE IT EASY TO READ THIS BOOK IN ONE SITTING AND THE STORYLINE HAD ME GRIPPED ESPECIALLY THE ENDING WHICH I DIDNT SEE COMING. CANNOT WAIT FOR BOOK 2 IN THE SERIES SKETCH, WHO DOESNT LOVE A GOOD TATTOOIST.
