Fighter… The club was my family, my blood, my entire world. They were the only thing I cared about…until her. Until Penny.
I was a soldier for the Devil’s Highwaymen, and Penny was a job gone wrong. An order from my president: take the girl and keep her hidden until it was time to give her back. Only as the days went on, I wasn’t sure I wanted to give the fiery little brunette back.
With a mane of long dark hair, golden wolf eyes, and a sassy mouth that spat poison at me every time she opened it, she needed to learn my rules, and quick.
And if she didn’t submit? I’d be the one to punish her. And I’d make her love it. Penny was a wild woman, and all I could think about doing was taming her.
Penny… He was brutish and stubborn, moody and single-minded, and he’d protect his club at all costs. He’d do anything they ordered him to do, a machine in a man’s body clad in dark leather and chains, and now he had a single focus… Me.
I hated him and everything he stood for and wanted nothing but to be away from him. But as the hours turned into days and the days turned into weeks, I began to feel something I’d never felt before…
A craving for his brutal touch. His rough kisses. And his depraved punishments.
Fighter was the monster in the dark, and I was his willing victim.

CRANK #1 OUT NOW! SKETCH #2 OUT NOW! BATTLE #3 OUT NOW! FIGHTER #4 OUT NOW! COWBOY #5 COMING 2019!
This book is problematic. The first third or so is a dark captive romance and could have easily been a 4 or 5 str read… then it meandered around with hardly any focus on the H and h. There’s a 5 month separation where the H is allowing the h to have some freedom before they settle down. Okay you think they’re gonna finally start being together but no the H decides to give her even more time. So… he drops by her apartment rails her one more time and rides off into the sunset to go Nomad for a few more months.. . Of course he says she’s his ole lady etc but I have to say I hated that ending. So if open ended stories puss you off— skip this one. I wish I had!

Fighter is book 4 in the Devils Highwaymen Nomads series, which is a spin-off from the Ride or Die series and it was probably the best book in the series so far. When Fighter receives the order to kidnap an MC princess from a rival club in order to make their leader bow down he gets way more than he bargained for in this deal. Penny is so overprotected by the Vipers MC that it's any wonder that she can even breathe on her own. She is watched 24/7, told who to be friends with and what to major in at school. Her father even controls what she is and isn't allowed to do with her body which is completely off-limits to everyone unless he decides otherwise. Forced to stalk her in order to find a loophole in her suppressive lifestyle, Fighter decides that he'll thoroughly enjoy breaking Penny down and forcing her to submit to him thereby obliterating her allegiance to her controlling father. But Penny has spent her entire life around domineering badass bikers and she is a fierce and feisty opponent for Fighter in this game of wills. While thoroughly enjoying playing mind games with Penny, Fighter realizes that a woman who gives him this much of a challenge is even more alluring than he thought and the two begin to affect each other more than either thought possible. But the reality is that Penny is supposed to be a job for him and he may receive orders to eliminate her at any moment. Can he teach her the freedom that comes with submission to the right man before he's ordered to either let her go or take away her freedom permanently?
This book was H-O-T, hot! It can be read as a standalone, but it helps to have read the previous books in this series and the ones in the Ride or Die series as there are recurring characters that appear throughout. It's chock-full of action, angst and steam that'll practically set your kindle on fire. Make sure to pick up your copy ASAP.
I received a review copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I’m speechless. This is not a book I should admit to having liked, but I did. It starts off so dark and gritty, grizzly even. I had no idea how this anti-hero could be redeemed. His job and the things he does to the heroine, ugh, awful, yuck, terrible. Somehow, amazingly, I think CR pulled it off. Right when you are sure the book has fallen into the horror story genre, we get thrown a morsel of hope. One that starts to grow in the second half.
Somehow I got sucked into thinking that these two belong together, even though their beginnings were nightmare-worthy. Fighter certainly tries to redeem himself and I say he did a heroic job of it. Penny probably still has some PTSD, but the ending and Fighter also take that into account. His transformation is remarkable yet somehow believable. It’s a HFN ending, but kudos for pulling off such a dark, ugly/beautiful love story. I wanted more. Can’t wait for the next one.
My favorite Highwayman this far!! I love his story and the emotions! Claire has done it again, and you can just feel the emotions pouring out of the pages. I absolutely devoured Fighter, couldn't get enough! I cannot wait for the next one in the series!
To me this was a book of 2 halves the first part was hating Fighter the 2nd was loving him A gritty read but kept you guessing I hope he gets his happy ending ?
Here we are with the Nomad Series Book 4 and Fighter is our main focus here, the enforcer for his President Hardy and the Devils Highwayman club. A man with a reputation know for being brutal, a man who gives zero fucks and is not afraid to get his hands dirty. The Highwaymen know things are going bad, Fighter has watched his Brother Battle forced to Flee after what went down in Battle's story. Fighter is now tasked with trying to even the playing field, ordered to kidnap and kill a rival club's presidents daughter Penny Benite.
Penny is a woman wanting to escape the clutches of a Father she loathes. Dreaming of freedom, she is trying to steal a moment of that when her world goes black. She wakes to find herself bound on a mattress in a room she doesn't recognise. Her capture devoid of humanity, putting her through a level of degradation she is determined to fight. When her masked captive begins to cloud her mind things get interesting for both Fighter and Penny. I adore Penny during this time she is super feisty and she gets one over on Fighter on a couple of occasions that had me fist pumping saying Yes Girl! Fighter is a man who is used to having that control, women bow to his every whim; but Penny is not every woman. Penny fights him every step of the way and he finds himself confused, turned on and at the end of his proverbial rope. Because of her, he is a man no longer willing to complete the task his president has ordered him to do.
As the story evolves we get to see just how little respect and value Penny's father has for his daughter. He sacrifices his own men, he uses Penny as a pawn to give away as he pleases and God I hated him. The one good thing Penny had was Scratch, a fellow club member and potential love interest; but Claire being Claire...... well that part of the story was unexpected!
Penny finds herself immersed in the Highwaymen's world and welcomed into the family with Rider, Charlie, Gauge and Fighter. This whole section of the book brought a levity to the book I loved. The family feel it held, the banter, the chemistry, the fighting, the teasing it just swept me up and made me fall even more for a certain member of the Highwaymen that shall remain anonymous for now ;)
Of course things don't remain drama free and a plan to keep Penny safe has serious consequences for Fighter. Penny brings out a totally different side to him than I never expected, the fierce protector, he can't see her come into harms way no matter the cost. A man devoted to a woman that wants to spread her wings and fly, he will do anything to provide this for her, even if it means sacrificing himself to the cause.
Fighter was a little different as it wasn't as involved in the wider goings on of the Highwayman's business. The novel focused more on the Hero and Heroine's story and a few central characters alongside them. This for me created a more family unit feel to the book which I liked, it fit Fighter and Penny's story perfectly allowing their twisted tale to play out as the main focus. A story of unexpected lovers brought together with a dark beginning and slowly crawl their way into the light, with an ending that has me hoping for more of their story in the future.
*I received this for free as an ARC in exchange for my honest review.*
I highly recommend reading the previous books in the series prior to reading Fighter. It will make it much easier so you can follow along with the other characters.
Fighter's story kind of takes you back in time as far as the club goes. The previous books are told a bit more in the future. That made it a little confusing. I wish I had done a reread of the previous books and read them all straight through.
The motorcycle world isn't always a pretty one. The Highwaymen are absolutely no angels, and Fighter is one of the darker ones among them. The author doesn't shy away from the rough side of their lives but she also includes a softer side of the men. A side of the members they may not share with their brothers but save for their old ladies.
I don't want to say too much and give the story away because the unknowns are after all what makes for a good story. Just know that there are some twists and turns and some dirty dirty scenes in there for you too. After all the story starts off with Fighter being forced to kidnap the daughter of a rival motorcycle club.... so how could it not be exciting after that start.
I do love a good MC story and Fighter didn't fail to hit the mark. One thing to note is that some events in the story may be triggering for some, for me it wasn't an issue as I found things that happened quite mild compared to some but I'd like people to at the very least be aware.
Fighter is a soldier for the Devil's Highwaymen, Penny is the daughter of a rival motorcycle groups President. When asked to do a job for his club, he will do anything for them. But what if this one girl is the one who can change everything.
The story is definitely nitty, gritty and even for headstrong, fiery-tempered Penny, people still have to hit their breaking point sometime. It's a rollercoaster ride from start to finish, which will tug at all of your emotions. So saddle up and take a wild ride with Penny and Fighter.
Fighter is the 4th book in Claire C. Riley MC series called The Devil's Highwaymen Nomads. This was my first Claire C Riley novel and loved it. This story took us into the heart of the Devils Highway MC and focused on Fighter and Penny. This tale will evoke a range of emotions from you as it wasn't only hearts and flowers, it was gritty and raw and we are taken on a journey we would not have expected but loved non the less. With amazing characters, steamy scenes, twists and turns and so much more this novel was much more than just romance and it will have you hooked from start to finish. Fighter was gripping, engrossing and riveting. It was a fantastic page-turner and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of MC romance.
Fighter griped my soul and took me on a mesmerizing ride that was emotionally charged.
I was captured from the first page till the very end and oh boy what a beautifully epic end it is. I was left satisfied but also needing more, i was left with a huge smile on my face because i just fell in love with fighter even more.
My favourite in this series so far its Gritty, angst, hot and captivatingly beautiful.
Claire is an incredible writer that really pulls me in and takes me on one hell of a journery every time and the journeys get more phenomenal.
Loved having my favourite ride or die characters in this and i am so excited for cowboy and ride or die book 3 Gauge is amazing in this, i love both these series and need more of these sexy, broody and smug bikers.
I have been dying for this book couldn't wait to get my hands on it.
It was so worth the wait, this is the 4th book in the The Devils Highwaymen series, and what a book it is I feel as if I have been on a roller coaster of a ride with it my emotions where all over the place. This book had my attention right to the very end. Great characters, you will fall in love with I really enjoyed this story and i can't wait for the next book in the series.
Gritty and full on story, intense from the start and I must admit some might find this tough reading in places. It contains violence and abuse but no rape. Fighter is tough, rough and he likes sex painful, he hasn't really known any softness in most of his life and doesn't know how to give it either. Penny has only known pain and imprisonment since her mother left her, her father owns her lock stock and barrel. He feels it is his right to do with her as he wishes, strictly controlling every part of her life. Even I found some of this hard to stomach, not that it isn't good because boy it sure is, not all abuse comes in physical violence, there is mental abuse as well and sometimes that is worse. I felt for Penny throughout this story and at times I didn't even like Fighter let alone a few other characters, my heart broke for her but she was strong and a survivor and she fights all the way. I do think this is a very clever plot, all my sympathy was on one character till towards the end. There are twists and turns some of which may run into the next book, but in no way can you guess where this one stops when you start reading it. I do hope to get more of Penny and Fighter in future books.
A SOLID 3.5 STARS! #MCromance #forcedproximity #captivetroupe
Guys, that ending gave me sucker punch! I understood why it had to be that way, even happy for the heroine, but that HEA was a little...sad and just a HFN.
Story had potential, but the whole captive-captor/Stockholm syndrome troupe that I love, isn't quite working for me here. The author left out of the gooey center in this hard candy. When PENNY was abducted by FIGHTER, their entire interaction during the forced proximity didn't instill a belief in me that they've "magically" come to be not just attracted to each other, but to have a connection.
FIGHTER was downright brutally mean to her. No rape, but he did leave her feeling less than human and also sexually...touched her. NOT that the hot scenes weren't HOT, but the chemistry build up that led to moment they finally slept together? ZERO EXPLOSION. Absolutely ANTI-CLIMACTIC.
Personally, I felt it needed to be more TOUCHY FEELY, more NEEDY between the MCs to convince me that there was something more.
They say TRAUMA bonds people in ways that are unexplainable, and every couple has their OWN THING that makes them well...a couple.
PENNY was a fighter too, with a hint of submissiveness. Like I said, this had potential because while I anticipated the smoking hot chemistry - it didn't deliver. While I anticipated a good back-and-forth open communication with dark undertones - it didn't quite deliver.
OVERALL I enjoyed this, although what a shame that it didn't live up to my expectations. There were too many holes within the story that could have been patched up well with proper development. It's like...I want to ship these 2 characters, especially when there's some angst thrown into it, but like....the good parts never came, never happened and I'm left wanting for more, ya know?a
And while I LOVED that Fighter was doing the right thing for PENNY at the ending, I also wished their story would continue so that this reader can have a sense of closure.
Review: Fighter is the kind of book where you want to punch the main character as much as you want to take him in a back room and have your way with him. This book is full of suspense as you aren’t sure what he’s going to do next or how. Is he going to be a good guy? Is he a bad guy? Just what in the motorcycle club romance is going on here?
This was a great book. It really was, but I had the hardest time figuring out how I felt about it, especially since romance isn’t really my thing. Fighter made me feel extremely conflicted about the way he treated Penny and the way she responded. I did struggle to get through parts of the book but I’m glad I did as the later parts of the book justified, or at least explained, her responses to some of the things she dealt with. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so conflicted about not only a character but what was going on lol.
The life of a motorcycle club member isn’t always peaches and cream, but really who would believe it was? I can’t speak for anyone else, but when I was growing up, I remember hearing stories of violence and danger when it came to “bikers”. Fighter lives up to that stereotype. He has to do something he doesn’t necessarily want to for his club and it doesn’t paint him in the best light.
If you are looking for a great Motorcycle Club romance book, check into this series. Action-packed and full of steamy moments, each book will leave you satisfied but still wanting more.
Here we go back with the devils highwaymen for book 4 and the turn of the devil himself .....fighter!!!
Fighter is hardys soldier the ruthless warrior of the mc club whos only goal is to get the jobs given to him done anyway he needs to earning him the reputation of being your worst nightmare. Penny was his next job ,it was supposed to be easy kidnap her, get job done the end he never counted on falling for the fiesty , strong willed stubborn women. But anyone that knows Claire's words know things are never just about falling in love!!!
Blood will be spilled ,the smell of death will be in the air and secrets and lies are everywhere !!!!! Something is definitely brewing in the nomads world and i cannot wait to find out!!!!
Absolutly loved fighter and pennys book every time i think i cant love claires words more bam!!! Out comes the next one to set the bar higher they just get better and better .
The first half of this book was very dark for me. Many readers won't get past the first three chapters. Fighter was truly a monster in the beginning. He kidnaps and holds a rival MC president's daughter and literally tortures her as he holds her captive. The author did a good job of developing the story into love between them by the end but the first half turned me off completely. This would have been a five star read for me if not for what Fighter put the h through in the beginning. The reason I give 3 stars is because even with not liking the first half I couldn't put the story down. This one is dark.
Omg If you read and liked her first series The Devil's Highway MC, then you would love this one it was definitely worth the wait It was a rollercoaster of emotions reading this book. I didn't go much on fighters character to start with but the more I read the more he grew on me and now I love him as much as the others aboustly brilliant read cant wait for the next book
Fighter, well what can I say that will pass the sensor, brilliant read can't tell you how hot it got. I loved the fact there were so many of the characters in this book, it brought all the books together so far and can't wait for the next one. Fantastic job Claire Riley great read as always.
This book was amazing was certainly worth the wait fighter is the 4th book in this series if you love a good mc book then I highly recommend this series its certainly a must read can't wait for the next book in series
I thought about how I wanted fighter to be, I envisioned him in my mind and claire made him everything that I wanted him to be.
A dark and gritty asshole with fire in his belly, the devil in his eyes and a filthy mouth, he took my breath and stole my heart from the first time he opened his mouth. Humiliation was something that he excelled at and he enjoyed it with a passion.
"He was like stearing into a vast ocean of evil"
Penny- I love her, strong willed, feisty and would fight with everything she had if she believed in it.
Fighter and Penny's story was full of emotion and I felt everything along with it, hurt, anger and utter heartbreak, i wanted to throw my kindle at one point.
This story touched me like no other.
Claire is my hero, Everything she writes she writes with passion, if the description of something can make you instantly see and smell what's being described you know this author is phenomenal.
This book is one I will read again and again.
Get ready for FIGHTER, he is the devil personified.
Fighter is book 4 in Claire C. Riley new MC series called The Devil's Highwaymen Nomads. If you read and liked her first series The Devil's Highway MC, then you would love this new story. This is a spin-off series featuring the Devil's Highwaymen Nomads and including cameos from some of your sexy favorite Highwaymen. This is about Fighter and Penny, a very emotional and heartbreaking story . Claire did a great job again, no disappointment, Amazing! It's a must read MC series that I highly recommend. 1-Click now, you won’t regret it!
I love how each and every one of these stories are different from the next. Fighter is Battles best friend and when his friend has to leave the DH MC until the heat he caused himself and his club dies down Fighter is on his own. His brothers are there, but they aren't Battle. The Prez orders Fighter to kidnap the daughter of another club's Prez, and while he gets the feeling something is not right, he also revels in the thought of what the can do this young woman. Fighter is not like most men, he gets off on breaking people, whether it's their bodies or their minds, and Penny will need every ounce of her strength not to succumb. Just as Fighter begins to realise there is something more to the woman he has captured he is ordered to set her free, but one slip up, allowing her to know who her captives are means she must die instead. It's Penny or his club. Secrets have a way of seeping through the cracks though and when a supposedly dead Penny comes to the people who had held her hostage and ordered her death in the first place it may bring war. Fighter must claim her now to save her and himself, but when Penny realises he doesn't want to she returns to her father's club, only to find her punishment for leaving is more horrifying than being kidnapped and tortured. Fighter is willing to put his life on the line to save her and it seems that may be what it will take. Meanwhile the DH MC Prez is acting all shady and things are not going well for Fighter and his brothers, despite his best friend Battles return.

OMG!!! Fighter was a filthy dirty talking God!! He was exactly what Penny ended up needing and Penny was exactly what Fighter needed. I just hate that he became a nomad. Hopefully in future books we can see them back together. Thank you Claire Riley for the Highwaymen. Can't wait for the next installment
