主人公の沢崎が最後辺りまで随分と走り回される。今回は被害者が少女だけに、彼に重くのしかかった様子。最後の捻りは、前作の時と同じく"そう来たか、そういう風に繋げさせるか"と、少々行き過ぎの感も無くはなかったが、事件の全容事態はハードボイルド作品としての情感は満足させられた。
