Wounded Hero

Rate this book
It’s supposed to be one wild night in Nashville. Another night flirting with strangers; another night pretending I’m not desperately lonely.

Then, I meet a man with pain in his eyes and lies on his lips. A man even more isolated and damaged than I am.

He lives a life of secrets and solitude, but the connection between us is undeniable. I know I’ll never see him again, but for one passionate night, we’ll hold together the broken pieces of each other’s souls.

Wounded Hero is the prequel to Wounded Hearts.

Wounded Hero by Julia Sykes was a short prequel to Wounded Hearts. It was my first book by the author but it won’t be my last. I bought this book for free as a special promotion, likely in anticipation of the full series.

It was a short quick teaser on what to expect from the full story. In a small amount of words it got straight to the point revealing two wounded souls who connected for one hot and steamy night. It was well written as an introduction to the author and to the story. I look forward to diving into Wounded Hearts.

This is a prequel which obviously means it’s a tease or intro to another book. Normally I feel that prequels are a bit short and sometimes leave me unsatisfied, but this was different. I’m not sure if it is because I feel like it is more than just a story, but a bit of truth to some of the events. It feels like reading someone’s diary of a real event.

I was hooked immediately by Addison who just got out of a terrible marriage and Scott who is some sort of military hero. Her troubled past and his secrets could have prevented them from connecting and yet they have an instant connection. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Wounded Hero by Julia Sykes is a short prequel to Wounded Hearts. Addison is a mess. Since her divorce she has been lost. In Nashville she decides she wants to have a one night stand. Hit and quit it. Never to see the other person again. In a bar a good looking man catches her attention and it begins. Scott notices the good looking lady. They strike up a conversation which leads to one night. This story was just more than one night. I knew I wanted to know more about them. Each wounded in thier own way. When I finished, I couldn't wait to read Wounded Hearts; the next book in the series. 5 stars.

BRILLIANT PREQUEL. I'M ALREADY HOOKED!

Wounded Hero is the prequel to Wounded Hearts, and a glimpse of what's to come. This is a quick read, beautiful well-written, very intriguing, and emotional. Memorable characters with intense chemistry for each other and a palpable connection.

OMG, if this prequel is any indication of what the book is going to be like, the answer is, BRILLIANT! Scott and Addison's story is one of those that'll stay with you for a very long time.

I'm telling you, with Wounded Hearts we are all in for one heck of a ride, and I can't wait!!

Sweet and innocent.

This book was very sweet and kinda innocent at the same time. I think I would like to see how their story goes on. In the next book. It is different from other Julia Skye's books but I really did enjoy it.

Wounded Hero is a delicious taste of what may be on the horizon for Addison and Scott.

This short, wickedly hot read delivers a juicy glimpse into how these two intriguing characters meet and the one night they share. As always, Julia Sykes gives us her impeccable writing and creative, unique characters that make this story stand out.

I highly recommend reading this before starting their main book as it provides some back story. However it will leave plenty of mystery behind who Scott really is and what Addison really needs. There are some big questions bouncing around in my mind - my imagination hard at work with all the delicious possibilities of what could be next.

Cannot wait for the next book! I need more - so much more!

This is a prequel to Wounded Hearts and it reads like a fine wine that needs to breathe. There is a smooth undercurrent that just builds the relationship between Addison and Scott as the reader turns each page similar to that of the different mixing of the flavors in the wine itself. Addison is a romance writer who went through a bad divorce and bumps into Scott when she is drowning her sorrows in a bar one night. Scott is a military man who keeps everything close to the vest and does not divulge much information about himself. The two are unequivocally drawn to each other. This is one sensuous read from start to end that just whets the readers appetite for the next book to come.
I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book and purchased it as well.

Scott and Addison felt like a true life story. It was as if I was taking a sneaky peak into some ones life. For me it was brilliant. The emotions felt by Addison. The reference to her marriage The brivardo of being single. Feeling like you need to be strong. Wanting to feel someone in your arms. While you maintain a barrier Cannot wait for their story to continue. There is a real depth to Scott. One we have yet to discover. The understanding of his job by Addison. The knowledge she has of the military. A match of heats for sure.

Engaging prequel

Still reeling from the effects of her recent divorce, Addison Burke seeks an escape from her past. She goes into a bar in Nashville to ease the loneliness that surrounds her. She meets Scott who is intriguing and masked in secrecy, and just the drug she needs to help her forget the pain. Their one blissful night was enough for Addison to keep her demons away.

Scott is no stranger to loneliness, either. What he doesn’t know is that he just saved her life. What an intense beginning. It’s compelling and a captivating beginning to Wounded Hearts.

The prequel for Scott and Addison's story will draw you in, and have you craving more. One night is all either of them is looking for when they cross paths. She is still attempting to recover from her abusive marriage that ended in divorce. He is a military man that has seen too much. They are both affected by their pasts, but their one night together may be their salvation. Loved their beginning. Looking forward to the full story.

I was given the opportunity to get an ARC of the Prequel Wounded Hero. This story, begins about an abused woman, trying to get her life back on track, yet yearning for closeness of another man. She meets Scott, they have a Deep connection, that you will see, both feel. So cannot wait for the story to come out, so anxious to read, loved the prequel ❤.

What a tantalising start to what I expect will be a highly emotional and heartbreaking story!! This teaser was just enough to whet my appetite and now I cannot wait for WOUNDED HEARTS to be released! I loved the chemistry between Scott and Addison! There is still SO much to be unravelled about these two characters, and I know that the talented Julia Sykes will not disappoint!
