Witch's Windsong

Rate this book

When Keir’s coyote, his devoted witch’s familiar, is kidnapped, Keir’s unhealed grief over the recent deaths of loved ones he could have saved is rubbed raw. Hit with the reality that his beloved coyote is facing heinous torture and possible death, Keir must find a way to rescue his familiar and defeat the self-blame confounding his focus as a shamanic healer. He searches the crime scene—a stream through one of the coven’s magical ravines—but is unable to find any solid clues. An enchanted willow reads his frustration and passes his despair to the wind coursing southward along the waterway.

Far from his Indiana hill country home, Unole, the talented daughter of a Native American wise man and Keir’s former teacher, reads that wind and hears his plea. Realizing the wronged man is Keir, her teenage crush, she’s eager to help—until thwarted by a past deal of black magic she now regrets.

Using what had before seemed only a harmless promise Unole made, along with a secret buried deep in Keir’s past, the kidnapper weaves a dangerous web of deception. Keir and Unole stand to lose everything—his coyote and career, the love they just discovered, and even her life.

A stand-alone book in the Coon Hollow Coven Tales series, Witch’s Windsong is a mystical adventure where hearts and spirits clash.

Series Description:

Those be the witches who draw bliss and bane from the smallest slip of nature—strong old ways.

If you think you’re brave enough to venture deep into Coon Hollow Coven’s forest ravines, consider this—rumor has it that their witchcraft lives and breathes through souls of dead kin. Why else would they uphold a 1930s lifestyle from the time their founding families settled the southern Indiana hill country? Folks from the neighboring small town of Bentbone mostly don’t mind…or at least try their best to keep safe distance from coven members. But for some townies, nothing will keep them from falling into those witches’ bliss and bane.

COON HOLLOW COVEN TALES series was inspired by the neck of the woods where Marsha A. Moore spent her favorite childhood years surrounded by the love of a big family. The tales are set in a fictitious community, south of Bloomington, and the books are rich with a warm Hoosier, down-home feel.

If you like mysterious goings-on in secluded hill country villages & deep forest ravines, sprinkled with heaps of witchy magic, mysticism & adventure, then you’ll love Coon Hollow Coven Tales.

A note to readers: ALL THE COON HOLLOW COVEN TALES NOVELS CAN BE READ AS STAND ALONE BOOKS. The series is about one community, and its residents may pass in and out of various books, but each book has its own unique and special story to enjoy.

Other Coon Hollow Coven Tales include:

Witch's Moonstone Locket
Witch's Cursed Cabin
Blood Ice & Oak Moon

His beloved familiar is kidnapped and for Keir, a powerful healer, this could be the last straw that breaks his spirit and his will to go on. As he searches for his coyote, anyone who has ever owned or lost a pet can relate to the powerful pain he feels. Has evil come back to the Coon Hollow coven? Is it personal or are all of the witches in danger?

As the wind carries his pain, a talented Native American, Unole will attempt to come to his aid, only to find that black magic will thwart her mission. Can her love for Keir break the magic that holds her back or will lure her like a siren’s song to her death? Has the past come back to destroy them both?

Marsha A. Moore’s WITCH’S WINDSONG takes us back to the coven that time forgot. Steeped in the mid twentieth century, visiting this coven is like jumping back through time! Add to that, Ms. Moore’s almost mystical style of writing and the atmosphere becomes swollen in the magic of her words as readers will believe they are there and the characters are real.

Wonderful friendships and loyalties abound in Coon Hollow as one shaman fights for the life of his familiar, his sense of worth and a love he has finally found. You might want some Kleenex for this one.

I love this series by Marsha A Moore. Her writing is just magical and so expressive it just draws you completely into the story, This series is an original storyline with strong believable characters, that draws you into their lives and what is happening to them. You may well shed a few tears with this one book. It literally had me thinking no that can't happen. I won't say anymore as I hate when reviews give away the story and spoil it for other readers. This book like the whole series deserves more than the 5 stars allowed. You won't want to put this book down, but you may have to as it isn't one of those short 50-90 page books it's a 240-page book. I read through the night but still didn't manage to finish it in one go. This book like the whole series is a read alone but if you don't read the previous books of which some of the characters appear in this book, you would be missing out on some good stories. But personally, if I like a book, I then like to collect a whole series so I can read them all again in one marathon sitting. If you enjoy Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy about witches then you are going to love this book and the rest of the series.

I love the Coven Hollow witches and the stories about them. Each one unique with a message. Keir's familiar is missing and he knows who has it. All of his past mistakes with Adara are now his undoing. With his status and work in the community at risk and his familiar missing he sets off on a mission to destroy her and bring to light her misdeeds against the coven. He has no idea the repercussions of his actions both past and present. Deaths, jealousy, betrayal will be his downfall without the help of his friends.

This author has created a wonderful world where witches, warlocks, seers and more co-exist and possibilities abound. I love the characters both bad and good who bring this world to life. It's easy to believe it's real with the imagery provided. This is a great addition to the series.

A book full of witchcraft, shamanism, mysticism, adventure, romance, love and loyalty as well as great evil, jealousy and betrayal. I particularly loved the link to the natural world, the power of the wind and the milky way particularly the coyote stars. Loved also the link between the seer and his familiar, the bond between them was amazing and the abuse by the evil priestess brought so much sorrow and pain because of this. A beautifully well written book which all lovers of witchcraft should really enjoy. The people of the reservation brought so much wisdom to the book as well, their different approach to life compared to that of the coven is what gave Keir his reward in the end. This was the first book I have read about the coven of Coon Hollow but it will definitely not be my last. A thoroughly enjoyable read even if at times it became heartbreaking.

This is my second book by this author and it will not be the last. Again I found a story that was very well written with complex, but characters that make human mistakes. Coon Hollow has a better more positive future since replacing the previous High Priestess, Adara, but she's back with a vengeance. Seer Keir Sheridan is her target this time. I absolutely loved this book. Keir goes back to the reservation to see his mentor and get some clarity. I love the different types of magic and shaman's lessons. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. I cried and I laughed. It was really exciting. I volunteered to read an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.

What a great heart wrenching story! Evil has come back to the coven. Adare thinks she has changed but has she really? Keir has a hard time letting go of guilt about his parents passing and a big mistake made when he was younger. Unole has her own issues and has a crush on Kier since she was a teen.
When Keir's familiar is taken, he despairs of ever getting him back. Can Keir and Unole work together to get Waakape back and get rid of the evil surrounding them? There is so much saddness in this story, but so much love and excitement as well. Coon Hollow is someplace I would like to visit. Ms. Moore is a great storyteller.

A wonderful story, beautifully written in language that paints an evocative picture for the mind’s eye. Keir, Unole, Logan, Abby, Rowe and Jancie...what powerful characters! It is Keir and Unole’s story we read in Witch’s Windsong, a story of grief and guilt, of past mistakes and future promise. Whether you are old fans of the series or newly initiated, you will enjoy this novel which like all the others in the series is a standalone with a great HEA. If this is a new series to you, give yourself a treat and read the rest. Highly recommended.

This was a well-written, entertaining book. Keir's familiar, a coyote, is kidnapped and Keir is desperate to find him. Unole, the daughter of his former teacher, learns about this and wants to help him. There are secrets in their pasts and they will have to overcome fear and work together to get through the challenges they encounter. This book can be read as a standalone story, though it is part of a series with related characters. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more stories by this author.

The very first thing I think when I read a book by this author is just how whimsical her writing is. In this latest book, we are introduced to Keir and Unole, two wonderful characters who reunite as adults after having known each other when they were a little younger. Including great characters, this book was filled with such romance, love, mysticism, and down-home country people, you couldn’t help but fall in love with everything. I laughed, cried, gasped out loud, and loved just about every minute of this book. You don’t need to have read the other books in this series as it’s written as a standalone. Give it a try. Recommend! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.

Scary, mysterious and mystical. This book is all three, very dark and it had you on the edge of your seat. Loved Unole, she can communicate with Keir on the wind. Lots of mystery here and you really want to strangle Adara, she is so evil. The ending totally surprised me. An excellent book to read but not late at night.

A hauntingly beautiful and heart breaking story about loss, mistakes, revenge, and love. Moore has done a fantastic job on this one.
Witches, shamanism, Cherokee lore, good and evil makes this story come to life. The kidnapping of a familiar puts two young people on a journey of choices and love.

What can I say, I love Marsha Moore's talent. She knows how to weave a story so that you are drawn in and never let go. This story is so powerful and moving. Keir is a powerful seer and Unole a wonderful windsong user of magic. Keir had known Unole as a young teenager who was the daughter of his mentor a Native American wise man. When Keir's familiar disappears Keir tries to find him. He is lost without his familiar coyote. When out searching for his coyote he hears a beautiful song on the winds.

I don't want to give anything away, but you will love reading this book!

I cried, got mad, laughed, and couldn't put this book down.
