I don't even remember if either of them were celibate during separation or not. My guess is heroine probably was as this is HP but I can't remember a thing about the hero that's how boring it was! ***** Updating---- I THINK he was celibate as he didn't recognise the divorce. In his mind HE was still committed to her or some equally twisted thing! Oh this was so goddamn childish! It was like oh I have a young wife, fine! I'll give her the divorce so she can spread her wings. It almost sounds like divorce is the latest model of Porsche!
"Bride by Blackmail" is a entertaining love-story about a ex-marriage couple who find their way back together...
‘I— You— But it’s been weeks now!’ Georgie gasped incredulous.
‘And if she’s known all this time why didn’t she just say so and put an end to all this subterfuge?’ Jed pursed his lips. ‘For the same reason I told her the lie in the first place. For the same reason I didn’t just telephone you and tell you Grandie wanted to see you, but sought you out at the Lawsons’ home instead. For the same reason I’ve wanted to hit Andrew Lawson every time I’ve seen the two of you together. For the same reason I had lunch with Sukie Lawson—’
‘You aren’t making any sense, Jed!’ Georgie burst in emotionally. ‘None of those things are related to each other—’
‘Of course they’re related!’ he protested impatiently. ‘No—’ ‘Yes!’ Jed hissed fiercely, the nerve in his jaw beating a wild tattoo now. ‘They are completely, one hundred per cent related—when you take into account the fact that I love you! That I have always loved you!’
How funnily cute and romantic this book was!Jed Lord is a romantic hero kind of character and i just KNEW he planned to win his ex-wife back from the beginning.Georgina Jones is a admirable heroine with a independence and sharpness and i were so happy when she broke her engagment with Andrew when she realized she still love her ex-husband Jed.But i think she jumped to conclusions in her marriage and i wish she could have thought it over in the years she divorced Jed.But she were young and unsure and naive.Their romance is a intense one,and the sexual tension is so THERE all the time.Wonderful easy read by Carole,so so so wonderful!
Read this one a while back. It was a decent novel, although the heroine was mighty childish and rushed into an engagement very closely after her divorce from the hero.
this one was not dat bad but not gud. no intense emotions or hot chemistry here. just a nice read. i was bored wid georgina. a very immature girl who broke up her marriage just coz of a piece of trash in newspapers !? ofc they had been under duress before dat scandal but she had 2 stay n work on her marriage, n not desert her husband n her family n deny them any contact. clearly, she needed 2 grow up but i dunt think she did any growing up in these 2 years of separation. infact, she got recklessly engaged 2 andrew lawson ! n was producing declarations of love 2 dat besotted fool. she was no great beauty when i read her physical description, attractive maybe, definitely not plain. i dunt mean dat physical attributes is what counts but clearly she was lacking on the personality side as well. so i dunt c how we had 2 men in love wid her. i have no comment 2 make on jed. it was georgina all along who was a t fault, who let the marriage drift away. she was too young 2 cope wid marriage n 2 top on dat, she had fertility issues. n der was publicity of jed wid an actress. circumstances also were against them.
Not one of Carole Mortimers better stories. The usual misunderstanding by the heroine leads her to divorce husband and get engaged to someone else, who she doesn't tell she's a divorcee or the fact she's been told having a baby is highly unlikely!! But than it doesn't really matter as the poor bloke gets dumped. Can't say I warmed to any of the characters and storyline not really engaging
Soooo why did we break up? Vagueness is fine for the beginning but you need to clear things up. Otherwise the story and plot and characters don't come into focus. Skip.
Georgie is still in love with her ex-husband, Jed, but has resigned herself to life without him. She is sure that he can never give her what she yearns for—love—and that she can never give him what he needs: a baby.
But, as heir to the family fortune, Jed Lord always gets what he wants! And right now the only thing on his mind is to kick-start his marriage again. It's been a year since he last saw Georgie, but he's determined to win her back—even if blackmail is the only way!
