El Santo Book One

I didn’t know darkness and evil lurked inside me until I had to murder in order to survive. Forced to become my own worst enemy. With so much blood on my hands, I was surprised I could still see my own skin.
I killed.
I tortured.
I loved…
I played God while I was rotting in a fiery inferno . Thriving on control and power was the only way I knew how to live. There were no other options.
If you weren’t my friend, you were my foe.
If you weren’t with me, you were against me.
Traitors, as I called them. There were no imaginary lines. I’d crossed them all. No boundaries. No second chances. No redemption.
Not for me.
For them.
For anyone.
Only for her…
She loved me. Always convinced I was a saint, never believing I was just another sinner.
A monster.

Until it was too late.

Except, I didn’t choose this life.
It. Chose. Me.

El Pecador Book Two

So here you are…
Turning the pages, opening the next chapters of my life—wanting to know the next truths of my sins. As if the first half of my life wasn’t enough.
You. Need. More.
You want my redemption.
My heart. My soul.
Your happily ever after…
You. Want. Answers.
And I will grant you the very first one you’re dying to know.

Why did I leave her?

So go ahead.
Turn the page.
I dare you.

You just might not like the answer.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Love/hate relationship

El Santo: When a monster finds true love...battling the demons that haunt him. Even monsters need love...even if they feel undeserving. Damien was conditioned as a soldier to fight the war on Communism by a greedy man. Damien was physically prepared to fight...a test would determine how ready he was.

I had so many preconceived ideas. But I was unprepared for the direction this story went. I wish I had been warned about the violent act that took place towards this one woman and her children.

I thought Damien was a pathetic character. One minute he confronts Emilio going against his orders then he is whining how he must follow orders or he will die. Make up your mind. If he’s such a dangerous man then prove to me how Damien’s life is in danger. He seems to live a very free life. He lives alone with little surveillance from this so called dangerous man. He was trained to be a killer so the fact he pouts about performing his duties says he’s just pissed that the man he idolized turned out to be a douche.

I needed more emotional turmoil and remorse from Damien. I struggled to believe and understand Damien’s situational turmoil regarding this girl. There were not enough moments together to forge this so called connection.
What of this connection or chemistry that Amira claims is there? I must have missed something because this nine year old girl went from watching her family die to loving the man responsible. He didn’t raise her Rosario did. He only provided the funds. I need more convincing then a pet Spanish name to be convinced they are in love.

I needed more than one sentence stating the first year was difficult for Amira. I needed to see the transformation and how she adapted to her life. All we see if how infatuated she is with Damien sitting around waiting for him.

There were some plot holes in regards to Emilio’s character as far as being a dictator. Damien living his life like Emilio was unaware of his secrets was ludicrous. Emilio would be aware of his every move.

I struggled with most of the content in this book. Primarily due to the wordiness of the story. Too many times elaborate details would be given adding nothing significant to the story except extra word count.

I was bored by the Cuban Communist storyline. I didn’t like any of these characters. Amira was a brat throwing tantrums and smacking people. She was a naive and stupid girl. I prefer strong minded female characters who are independent, not this ignorant child. These characters were not fully developed for me to believe they had a connection.

El Pecador: Trapped in a life he never wanted Damien sets off to America to repent for his sins.
I really don’t like the way this story began with sexually abusing a woman. It’s exactly how book 1 began. I really don’t need that visualization to understand how dark and dangerous these men are.

I loathe this box set from the lack of character development to the timeline and the endless excuses from Damien. I was disappointed by Damien’s character when it came to women. I didn’t feel he was any different than the man who taught him women were whores.

There were plenty of unexpected circumstances and yet there were some predictable situations.
On a positive note I did like his cause and the cameo performances by Creed and El Diablo.

This hasn’t been an enjoyable read for me. I couldn’t wait for this ride to be over with. I was done with the predictability of these characters actions and the so called shocking revelations. I saw thru most of them. All I read were excuses for a life he didn’t ask for, yet he became what he despised. This love/hate relationship was just too much.

Damien needs to own his mistakes as his own. No one can make another person do something the choice is still their own. It’s a copout to pass blame. Damien could have made a variety of different choices regarding Amira’s family, yet he chose to follow orders.

It’s been a while since I’ve read this. I have to reread it ASAP btw. But I can still vividly remember the heartache it brought me.
Stripped me of my soul and healed it back in.
Perfect.

My story is going to make you fucking hate me as much as she does, but I want you to. I’m not looking for redemption. I’m not looking for your forgiveness. I don’t deserve yours like I don’t deserve hers. I’m far from the hero in this story. I’m closer to the villain. You will think of me as the villain. Except, I’m far worse. I’m the fucking monster. And, I’m perfectly alright with that. I dare you to try to love me… Like she did and probably still does. Don’t say, I didn’t warn you.

3.5 stars
Continuing my way through this author's backlog, I hesitantly started this duet. Based on the glimpses of Damien in previous books, I wasn't exactly amped to read his story, but kept an open mind. Maybe it's from reading them recently, but I saw strong similarities between El Santo and former works El Diablo and the Road to Nowhere duet. From the attitude of the hero thinking he's better pushing everyone away, to the protectiveness he shows for a much younger girl who's not even legal age when they meet, to the heartbreak before the healing....it was hard to keep the different series straight when it felt like deja vu. The beginning was slow for me, picking up towards the last half of the book before a cliffhanger ending. The dual POV shows Damien and Amira's bond over many years, just building up the anticipation of when it would come to fruition romantically. After seeing the hero with other women, I was happy for a long awaited steam session between the main characters and hope to see more in their conclusion.

El Pecador
4 stars
I didn't wait long before starting El Pecador after that cliffy ending in El Santo. The beginning was slow and could have been condensed, but I was on a roll. That first love scene was explosive, and I wish there had been more steamy scenes in general. Still in dual POV, both characters pissed me off at times and had me rooting for them at others. This conclusion has a few twists, some I anticipated and others I didn't. Damien and Amira finally reached their HEA, and I would love to see more of their happy after their roller coaster journey.

El Santo – Once again the queen of angst has out did herself. I have never had a book that had me go from an ugly cry to flat out angrier than hell than this book. The emotions bled from each page and the characters had so many layers you learned more about them with every chapter. M. Robinson writes such fabulous characters and a plot so twisted you think about this book long after you read the final words on the last page. 5 Stars are not enough!!!

El Pecador - I have started and restarted this review numerous times. I can honestly say one thing: YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!!! I have never read a book with such beautifully heart wrenching characters. M. Robinson does not just tell a story, she sucks you into the characters’ lives. You feel everything they feel, you hurt when they hurt, you cry when they cry and you are left completely devastated at times and overjoyed in others. The plot twists, the angst and the overall feel of the story leave you breathless. M. Robinson you are a master story teller and I am so privileged to have been able to read your work. This book deserves more than 5 stars!!

This book has wreaked havoc on my soul since the beginning. The ups and downs of it. By far, my favorite book. You can feel all their love. All their pain. All of it. The angst. The suspense. The hatred. The love. The heartbreak. Every ounce of it drips from the words M has written. We knew Damien wasn't going to be easy. We knew it was going to be better than the others before it. That's the beauty of her words. Each book sets the bar so high for the next one. I seriously can't think of another person who writes the way she does, or who puts so much of themselves in every book. I know it's hard on her, all the voices in her head. I don't know how she does it. She blows my mind. Every. Time.
This box set is taking M to the next level.
He upped the anty.
ARE YOU READY?!
Can you handle it?
Handle him?
The one.
The only.

I have to be honest, I couldn't help it. I ugly cried from beginning to end. This book open my chest, took my heart out and beat on it till it bled out. Not even my soul could avoid the onslaught of sensation every word in the book provoked. It was painfully sensual and her at breaking and when you think nothing could be more wrong... BANG! It gets worse. But no matter how difficult it was to read Damien and Amira's story it was totally worth it... In the end. No words for the amazing talent of M. Robbinson

Gripping

These stories held my attention from start to finish as I neglected some things to keep reading. Complicated and convoluted with numerous twists and turns that pull you in the next chapter of life in Cuba and the United States. Damien lives with his demons and eternal love for Amira, the girl whose life he saved. Amira loves him with everything she is and has but their road to happiness is filled with obstacles leading to ups and downs which seem insurmountable at times. Story is enthralling, intriguing, suspenseful and erotic. Highly recommend.

A lot going on

So yeah a lot going on, the turmoil and emotions were heavy but not so much that I cried non stop. It's a convoluted story line that has you hanging by a thread from time to time but overall you get what you want. Damien definitely ties a lot of strings together in the author's world, so glad I finally met him.

Exactly why I love M.

This duet is exactly the writing I have come to expect from M. Definitely not disappointed. Devoured every word and went along the roller coaster that was Damien and Amira!

Hard to describe. All emotions in.

The beginning till almost the end was gruesome. Happy ending buy boy... before you get there you’re heart will stop several times. Not a boring read. Story line very good. Turn out of events unpredictable and thought provoking.

Good set!

These two books cover Damian's story. His past is not one of a young boy with growing pains but of a young man training for a harsh life. His story was definitely a harder darker, read but also a good story

DAMIEN AND AMIRA

I don't really know how to review the books I just read. Very dark, extremely intense, and not at all what I expected in the ending. As with all of Monica's stories, well written with rich characters.

Great Read!

This was an epic duet about Damien and Amira. It spans from Amira's childhood until years later she runs into the love of her life who left her behind in Cuba. Loved it!
