Adrienne Fuller is used to working late hours and long nights. As a nurse, her job is to save people, but when she witnesses a wreck on the road in front of her home and sees the men involved leave a dead body in a crumpled car, saving anyone is the last thing on her mind. This was no accident, and she’s already learned a hard lesson about the criminal justice system. She vows to tell no one what she saw, even the cops who come knocking on her door the next day.
Henry “Zan” Duncan is deep undercover investigating a human trafficking ring, and in his line of work he has to pretend to be the bad guy. During a horrendous car chase, it’s either kill or be killed. When he spots a woman with fiery red hair hiding in the bushes, he goes back the next day to save her life, unaware he just raised the stakes on his mission, blew his cover, and failed in his effort to never fall in love.
Dodging bullets, fights, and explosions, Adrienne must learn to trust the man who claims he wants to protect her, and Zan must open his heart to the woman he is starting to love.
Angela Smith is a Texas native who, years ago, was dubbed most likely to write a novel during her senior year in high school. She always had her nose stuck in a book, even hiding them behind her textbooks during school study time. Her dream began at a young age when her sister started reciting 'Brer Rabbit' after their mom read it to them so often. She told her mom she'd write a story one day and never gave up on that dream even though her mom was never able to see it come to fruition. By day, she works as a certified paralegal and office manager at her local District Attorney's office and spends her free time with her husband, their pets, and their many hobbies. Although life in general keeps her very busy, her passion for writing and getting the stories out of her head tends to make her restless if she isn't following what some people call her destiny.

This is a new author to me. If you enjoy Romantic Suspense with a lot of fast-paced action and page-turning twists and turns, you should give this one a nod. The characters are well-developed and I really like how Adrienne and Zan relate to each other.
Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this Romantic Suspense. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
The book starts with a car crash and the tension doesn’t let up until over halfway through the story. Even then it lurks in the background, making you turn pages until the final scene. Imagine going out to look for your cat and winding up running for your life? That’s what happens to our heroine Adrienne. At least she has sexy FBI agent Zan to help her escape. But despite the resources he has to keep them safe, including an amazing cabin, when the threat comes from an unexpected source, they both end up at the wrong end of a gun. A fast-paced thriller, this story will keep you guessing who’s behind the murders until the very end. Recommend for anyone who enjoys romantic suspense.
For a Romantic Suspense novel, this was a fast paced read that literally took only half a day to finish the story for me, I couldn't put it down. It kept me wanting to continue. It was fun and addictive. There wasn't any time to have my mind wandering. From the get go, there was lots of things happening at once. It was a full ride!
The writing style was simple and the narration was easy to follow. The imagery had me immersed in the mystery. The characters were rich and well portrayed. The smooth flow of the tale kept me stable even through the surprising twists and turns taken in the story.
I can say that the author has done a commendable job of writing a fantastic setting and a adventure rich story for mystery lovers.
I enjoyed this novel not only because of its excellent pacing, but also because of the compelling characterizations and beautifully wrought place settings. I rooted for Zan and Adrienne as they faced every threat with whip-smart thinking and great humanity. The author certainly knows how to create tension, while giving her reader moments to revel in the ambiance of a quiet fishing spot or a luxurious Colorado lodge. I got so involved with the characters, I can't wait for the sequels, which will give us the stories of Adrienne's family. Five stars for one of the best novels I've read in a long while.
Dark Ride is a great mix of heart-pounding action, suspense, and sweet and sexy romance. With car chases, an ever-building tension, and bad guys at every turn, I could easily picture this one on the big screen. Zan and Adrienne are running for their lives, sometimes quite literally, and they have no idea who to trust as they try to stay hidden while trying to figure out the key players in a human trafficking ring. The book is well-written, the characters are interesting, and I can easily recommend this one to anyone who enjoys lots of suspense and action with their romance.
I love this cover. I think that it is a great cover to depict the feel of the novel.
A Main character who is easy to relate to and understand. Adrienne really appeals to the reader and you care what happens to her throughout the novel. I really liked the forbidden aspect of the novel. Those romances are always my favorites. Not to mention, this one ups the stakes when his cover is blown and their lives are put in even more danger.
This is definitely a Romantic Suspense novel that will make you think and keep you guessing, while delivering on the Romance.
Book Name: Dark Ride Author: Angela Smith Genere: Fiction Review: 'Dark Ride' is an adventurous story with a tint of romance in it. The story revolves around a murder witness 'Adrienne' and an undercover agent 'Zan'. Their dark ride starts when Zan takes up the responsibility to save the witness from the murderers, with a thought of revealing their bad works and putting them behind bars. On their journey to escape from bad mans, both fell in love and Zan regains Adrienne's lost faith in beauty of life, love and law.
The title goes perfect with the plot. Characters are not introduced separately, they get personified as the story goes. Thrilling twists & turns keeps the story engaging. At some points, unnecessary repetitions adds to the length and bore the readers. Author is successful in addressing big threats to humanity such as murders, human trafficking, sexual harassments with such an ease of words and elegant writing skills. 'Dark Ride' is a must pick for all and it is worth your time.
