Fighting for Love #5

Love and Medicine

Rate this book
A Forbidden Love Romance.

ROSS

I was never supposed to see Tom again after the one passionate night we spent together. That’s the way I prefer it. I was definitely never supposed to operate on him when he was brought into my ER after his accident.

That part’s against the law.

It was an honest mistake - I didn’t realize until later that the man I’d just put back together was the same man who’d just spent the previous night taking me apart, innuendo most definitely intended.

And when I paid his medical bills, that was just a guilty conscience. He wouldn’t have been on the road as tired as he was if me and my issues hadn’t been against him staying the night.

But when I keep making up excuses to see him, and those turn into justifications for why I’m mashing my lips up against his and taking off his clothes again and throwing him down on my desk, well…

Okay, I admit it. That might technically be my bad.

After my last disastrous relationship, commitment’s been a no go for me. I don’t know how to turn my back on the first guy in forever to actually make me feel something. Make me willing to risk everything.

Except it’s not just a cliché here.

But no matter what my head says, I can’t ignore what my heart is telling me.

TOM

I’m getting sick of people telling me to stay away from Ross.

At first it was just a joke. He had a reputation for being a bad boy, and people don’t call me tight-ass as a compliment to my glutes.

I never thought we’d actually hit it off. The only thing we had in common that night were too many drinks and loneliness.

But we did connect, on a deeper level than I can’t even explain to myself - let alone to everyone who seems to have an opinion now on why I can’t be with the doctor who saved my life.

Even if he’s also the only one who can heal my soul.

Normally I’m the guy that’s all about listening to what others think, but this time is different.

This time I’ve got to listen to my heart.

This 50,000 word standalone features medical misadventures and sexual healing. Our heroes won’t let the law stand in the way of true love, but you should if you’re under eighteen please!

‘Tom seemed like a really great guy. It was safer not to get involved in the first place.‘

We know J.P Oliver as an author who has teamed with the esteemed Peter Styles in the past and here we have the opportunity to see how he functions solo. Even in his solo flights JP offers no biographical data so we fly with him, wishing him well – and he rewards! JP takes on a frequently encountered topics, but in the case of this Book 5 of his Fighting for Love series he also takes on ‘unprofessional’ situations. The reason it works so well is JP's casual conversational writing style and realistic conveying of emotions surrounding trauma and. …love.

The book opens with an introduction to Tom – ‘Tom smiled as another person came up to try and make small talk. This was why he hated these parties— he’d never been good at mixing and mingling with people. Especially when everybody was dressed to the nines and secretly measuring one another up as they talked, and nobody really knew anybody. “You must be the assistant,” the woman said, holding out her hand for Tom to shake. Tom wanted to roll his eyes and say yes, technically he could be considered an assistant. He was also the one who’d helped her win her case six months ago when she’d come to the firm, and he’d met her twice before. Adam and Enid, Tom’s bosses, took on plenty of good clients, people who genuinely needed help. But to make sure they could keep the firm going, they also had to take on a certain number of rich clients, like this woman. Her name was Pauline, Tom remembered. And those clients were insufferable. But he had to be polite, so he pretended he’d never met her before and that he actually cared about her new penthouse apartment. “It’s got amazing views,” Pauline went on. “And I got this immense bed to go with it. I know king sized is probably too small for just one person, but what are you going to do? It fits the room.” She gave him a sharp smile, and that was when Tom realized— she was flirting with him. “I’m so sorry, I think I see my boss waved at me.” He plastered a smile onto his face. “Please excuse me.” He hurried over to Adam, who was refilling his drink. “If anyone, especially that redhead over there, asks, you called me over to talk to me about something.” Adam glanced over at Pauline, who was pouting. “Ah. She tried to hit on me, too, while I was working her case. I had to tell her I had a fiancé.”

The synopsis let us know what is ahead: ‘Ross - I was never supposed to see Tom again after the one passionate night we spent together. That’s the way I prefer it. I was definitely never supposed to operate on him when he was brought into my ER after his accident. That part’s against the law. It was an honest mistake - I didn’t realize until later that the man I’d just put back together was the same man who’d just spent the previous night taking me apart. He had a reputation for being a bad boy. I never thought we’d actually hit it off. The only thing we had in common that night were too many drinks and loneliness. Set up for a strong ‘who comes first’ situation getting in the way of romance. It is apparent that JP Oliver is a solid talent, ready for the satisfying MM Gay romance tales. Now he should give us a little biographical data so we can relate to him more strongly. Join him!

Work/Life Balance = Love!

A hookup, an accident, some guilt and a nasty piece of work are components of the Ross & Tom love story.
I must admit I was not impressed with the story at first. The author seems to repeat situations over and over again, which becomes boring and tedious. However, as I read more, the story started to grow on me.
I wound up liking the characters, the intriguing premise and the sexy times. I’m now interested in reading more of the series.

what happens when a new romance literally meets a car wreck?

I can see it happening that you might not recognize a patient based only on his leg wounds, with face and rest of body covered.

A nasty ex can try and cause complications, and make all sorts of things uncomfortable.

aside from being a steamy romance with challenges to overcome to make to to the happy,
this is a good look at the sneaky abuser.

The one who has all the right answers while he is cutting you off from your friends and making you feel bad about doing anything for yourself.

The guy you tell yourself is just part of growing up and away from long term friends as your life changes - before your realize the damage you let happen.

The one who makes it hard to hear anyone who has good answers for a good reason, and makes you doubt your judgement.

Thanks for sharing the insights into the Manipulator - showing that even smart, successful people can get trapped by bad romance sometimes.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Ross and Tom. Ross is a very successful surgeon and is not looking for a serious relationship because of his past. He meets Tom one night at Joe's, a local bar he and his friends hang out at. Tom is a paralegal who is also a workaholic. Tom's boss is one of Ross's friends and takes Tom to Joe's in hopes of getting Tom to make friends and to get out more. Tom is happy being a introvert and doesn't make friends easily. When Ross flirts with Tom all night, Tom questions if he is reading the signals correct and Ross invites him to come home with him, but tell him it is only a casual hook-up because he doesn't do relationships. Tom goes home with Ross and they have a great time. When Tom wakes later, he leaves and doesn't wake Ross. When Tom is on his way home, he is in a car accident and Ross ends up being his surgeon. Ross doesn't recognize Tom until after his shift when he is checking on his patients and he feels guilty about the accident. Ross is still attracted to Tom and wants to see him again. When Tom is no longer his patient, they talk and agree to a casual relationship. Soon they get closer and when Ross's past start to make trouble for him, the new relationship with Tom is put to the test. I really enjoyed this book and thought Ross and Tom were great together. They had great chemistry and cared a lot for each other. I enjoyed their story and how they both wanted to protect the other. I liked the group of friends that included Tom like he belonged there from the start. Good one.

Ross is a highly respected surgeon who unfortunately got involved with a man who was toxic. As that relationship did not end well, Ross made the decision to stay away from committed relationships. Tom is a paralegal who spends his time working with no time for much else although, he really wants to find someone. Adam, Tom’s boss, invites him out to a bar where he hangs out with his friends and surprisingly Ross is there. The attraction between Ross and Tom begins to sizzle and they wind up going home together. Knowing that Ross is uninterested in a relationship, Tom decides to leave early and not wake him. However, on his way home, Tom is in an accident and subsequently has Ross as his surgeon. Ross feels remorseful and makes it his business to look after Tom to the best of his ability considering the possible ramifications to his job. The more time the men spend together the more their feelings grow. Can Ross let go enough to allow Tom in and have a committed relationship? This is one well written story. From the start the reader can feel the chemistry between Ross and Tom and the lengths they would go to in order to protect the other. Enhancing the storyline is the group of Ross’ friends and the banter between them all.

As far as paralegal Tom's bosses were concerned, he needed to stop being a wallflower and a workaholic and enjoy his young life. Adam convinced Tom to come and meet his friends and it turned out to be a night that forever changed the course of his life.

Ross was a surgeon. Work was his life, but of late he was getting a yearning. Meeting Tom opened a realm he never thought was possible, after the failure of his previous relationship.

Could two men who were so compatible and right for each other overcome the thought that work trumped everything, including love? All it took was one accident and a visit from a spitful ex to put things into perspective.

Simply enjoyable and recommended. One click this book, but make sure you grab the series and enjoy a taste of good summer reading.

Ross, an emergency doctor, has a one-off encounter with Tom after meeting him for the first time through friends at a bar. They have what they assume to be one night of fun between the two of them, but due to an accident, Tom becomes Ross's patient at the hospital. Through this happy accident, at least romantically, their relationship starts to develop and they realize that a relationship is something that they really want, and that they cannot keep using the excuse of being too busy at work. up until this point Ross has been hesitant about entering into a relationship due to a negative past experience, but it is through his connection to Tom that he realizes that he cannot give up on love.
I greatly loved reading this book and it put a smile on my face when the characters realized that there really is no good time for love, when life is busy, so one must just jump in head first and enjoy the opportunity when it presents itself in love.

Tom agrees to go for an evening out with his boss Adam to meet up with a group of his friends there here meets surgeon Ross.
Tom's boss Adam worried by his lack of a social life persuades him to go out with a group his friends most of who are in pairs but he meets single surgeon Ross. As Adam had brought him he agrees to Ross taking him home to save Adam a trip back into the city but they end up at Ross's apartment. Later Tom gets panicky and calls Uber to get home leaving Ross sleeping. Ross wakes shortly after but has an early start in ER and as soon as he arrives has to repair the leg of a male victim from a road accident were a drunk driver has run a red light and hit the passenger side of another car. Before finishing his shift he does a quick round of his patients the last of which is the accident victim and when he enters the room he is shocked to see Tom. A MM romance to relax and enjoy.

Another wonderful addition to this series by author J.P. Oliver. Tom is a man who is shy and reclusive, but a hard worker who loves his work. Ross is a surgeon and after a bad relationship decides he all about hook-ups. Both have weird schedules and justify their behavior with hook-ups only. Tons of drama in this story and well worth reading to find the end of the rainbow for these two. We get to revisit the others in the group at Luke's bar and revisit their relationships too. Well written and pulls the reader into the drama of life in the fast lane. Good read. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.

Love and Medicine is so cute you are going to have a hard time putting it down this whole series is very romantic and can relate to some of the stuff going on in the real world or at least part of the real world. I would have liked to read more about what happened with Jeremy but I am very glad that Ross and Tom have a chance to have a very happy ending. I really hope that you guys will read a love this story as much as I do and I can't wait to read what other stories you come out with. Keep up the amazing work I love your stories

Love and Medicine: A Forbidden Love Gay Romance (Fighting For Love Book 5) by J.P. Oliver is an MM, Contemporary Romance.
Ross didn't plan to see Tom again after the one passionate night. But he keeps making up excuses to see him and taking off his clothes,
he couldn’t ignore what his heart was telling him. Everyone was telling Tom to stay away from him after all Ross did have a reputation for being a bad boy. Usually, he listens to what others say or think but this time I've got to listen to his heart. A beautiful, well-written with a nice storyline and likable characters

Tom and Ross meet through Tom's boss who is Ross's long time friend. They start seeing each other, and Ross'so ex tries to cause trouble. See how they and their friends deal with them dating casually and is it worth the time with the trouble it could create? This book deals with hook ups vs dating which works best for career the driven, and to be alone or not.
I enjoyed this story and the way it deals with relationship questions.

Love and Medicine was a great follow up to the Fighting for Love series. Ross as a surgeon never has time for relationships and he fine with that. Tom is a bit of s workaholic, his life is his job literally. When Adam invites Tom to the weekly Friday night out and Joe’s , Ross and Tom meet, and Sparks fly between the two . Commitment issues, and an abussive ex keep the men apart while their friends try to bring them together.

It was a good story but it took me a while to warm up to it. At first I was upset because I thought this book was about Tom, the Fire Chief but instead it was some guy we never heard of. Tom is a sweet character but he wasn't expected. I think this issue of Ross dating someone he operated on a little ridiculous but I don't really know hospital politics. Who could deny or think badly of someone for finding love no matter the situation??.. Jeremy is a creepy jerk who deserves what's coming to him.

He had a wonderful.night with him but he wouldn't let him stay the night. Big mistake. He ends up operating in him when they were involved in an accident she to tiredness. He blames himself for their accident. He paid the bill. A doctor should never have sex with a patient but they keep getting together.can two broken hearts be mended by each other? See if it can

I loved this book. I'm a sucker for a good love story and this one really came through. Tom and Ross meet and fall into lust. But what happens when lust just isn't enough and you want more? There are enough twists and turns in this story to keep you totally engrossed. Plus you get to know a whole group of secondary characters who are marvelous. This story strikes a chord with today's world...can you have a busy job and love? This is definitely a three hankie story.

The journalist!

One night stand was all it was. He snuck out of the apartment because he wasn't sure if he could stay.
Then the taxi he was in got hit by a drunk driver and thats all he remembered. His leg was in a cast, the the Doctor walked into check on him and it was the guy from the one night stand. The tale goes on and on in a good way. They had to jump through some hoops but it was worth it.

Love, Loved, Lost and Love Returns

Love & Medicine is book 5 in t this series by J.P. Oliver and I would encourage everyone to read each book because the series, which is easily read solo, is captivating and draws the reader into a circle of close friends that continues to grow from love then friendship, then partners etc.
In Love and Medicine you see coincidence turn into love, only to be abandoned because of an ex boyfriend jealously and controlling nature. So, love is found, it is lost out of true love and is found ounce again.

Fantastic read

Love and Medicine : A Forbidden Love Gay Romance it's a layered and entertaining read. Even when the word forbidden is in the title , there isn't really any thing taboo in the tale it self.
