Former D-Force bodyguard, protects mega-star’s body double from a predatory stalker’s deadly hunting game Fresh out of the military, John Wayne “Duke” Morrison is back in his home state of Montana, starting a new job in the Brotherhood Protectors security service. First assignment, protect film star and diva Lena Love from a stalker leaving her threatening messages. After fighting terrorists in the Middle East, Duke assumes this assignment will be a walk in the park.
Angel Carson, lovingly known as “The Angel of Death”, is a woman with a death wish. Her main claim to fame is her uncanny resemblance to Lena Love. Prior military, she’s seen combat, lost friends and now works as the stunt woman for the mega-star. When Miss Love is threatened, Angel steps in as bait to draw out the stalker on the diva’s 6,000-acre ranch in the foothills of the Crazy Mountains. To cover Angel’s back, Lena has engaged a bodyguard to watch her six and be there when the stalker reveals himself. Unable to tell Duke she isn’t the real Lena, Angel must perform like a diva. As the stalker closes in, she reluctantly accepts Duke’s help to stay alive. In forced proximity, tempers and passions ignite, leaving Duke and Angel struggling to resist an irresistible attraction while alluding the stalker’s predatory game. When the stalker becomes the predator, the power of Delta Force brotherhood becomes a force to reckon with.

Award-winning author Elle James grew up as an air force military brat. She received her work ethic from her rock-solid father, her creative streak from her artistic mother and inspiration from her writing partner and sister, Delilah Devlin. As a former member of the army reserves and a current member of the air force reserves, she's traveled across the United States and to Germany, managed a full-time job, and raised three wonderful children. She and her husband have even tried their hands at ranching exotic birds (ostriches, emus and rheas) in the Texas hill country. Ask her, and she'll tell you what it's like to go toe-to-toe with an angry three-hundred-and-fifty-pound bird and live to tell about it!
Her adventures in the army and air force reserves, and the wild antics of her life on a small ranch in Texas give her fodder for mystery, suspense and humor in her writing. Elle writes gothic, paranormal mystery for the Harlequin Intrigue line and paranormal romantic comedy for Dorchester Publishing. A former manager of computer programming and project management professionals, Elle is happy she now has the opportunity to pursue her writing full time.
Novella or short novel. Take your pick. At 100 pages Elle James packs a lot of hot romance and action in this short whatever you want to call it. And what I call it is just what I needed right now. I can always count on Elle James to take me away and after reading a couple of books that were on the heavy, real side I really needed this one.
Angel Carson was working in a quick-change oil shop when an agent noticed how much she looked like superstar Lena Love. Soon Angel is Lena's stunt double, and she is closing in on enough money to buy a property and being able to tell that bitch, Lena, where to shove it. Bring a former Ranger, Angel had no problem with the stunts, but the nasty Lena was more than she could take.
After being medically discharged from the military, John Wayne "Duke" Morrison is again home in Montana, and he has taken a job with Brotherhood Protectors. His assignment is Lena Love, who has received threatening messages. Duke had an encounter his first night back and Lena made an impression, just not a good one.
When Lena ends up passed out from mixing drugs and alcohol, she is packed off to rehab and Angel must take her place and be the bait to draw out the stalker without anyone knowing she isn't Lena. Even her bodyguard, Duke can't know. But being the diva isn't a role Angel plays well and it turns out she and Duke are one hot item between the sheets and stalking a stalker.
This made for a quick read. I think the plot sounded like it would be interesting and original but this one just had a bit much of the insta-love for my preference. The storyline and characters had little to no depth.
Duke is staring tomorrow with the Brotherhood Protectors. After a cringe worthy run in with an obnoxious actress at the local watering hole, he can't believe his luck that she is his first assignment. Angel is the body double and stuntwoman to a famous Hollywood actress. Previously an Army Ranger who was medically discharged. Now the actress has a dangerous stalker so she is switching places to be the bait and she has a rugged bodyguard who doesn't know she is not Lena.
This story has about four things that felt incomplete or weird. Duke doesn't tell his boss who Angel is. We never find out Hank's take on the guys, and several other things. I definitely did not enjoy this. To me, not worth what I paid. These stories need to be start being full length stories of 250+ pages for what I am paying for. Hopefully, that will happen. This is the second book that is more like a short novel.
This was a fun quick, sexy and suspenseful book. John Wayne "Duke" Morrison is fresh out of special services due to a career ending injury. He's signed on to the "Brotherhood Protectors". What could be so hard being a bodyguard...right? Then he meets Lena Love his first guard duty. She's a rich selfish and rude actress who thinks far to highly of herself. Angel Carson is Lena's stunt double. All she has to do is play her for two weeks while she's in rehab. Great time for a well deserved vacation. Yeah, if only the madding bodyguard would leave her be. Oh and there's a stalker to deal with.
This is a sweet adventurous suspenseful story with many great characters. Hot, hot special forces men with a actress look a like who's a former Army Ranger. Great story
Let's put aside the typos and some missing punctuation and get to the more glaring issues with this book. The plot has some issues. We're supposed to believe that some woman is the spitting image of a world famous movie star (sorta plausible as there are folks that look uncannily similar to famous people), but unless you're identical twins, you can't fool people who know you, especially up close. And yet the house staff that works for the real actress don't realize it's a body double? Maybe you could fool some of them, but not everybody! Unless they're all idiots. Then her publicist has a film crew and an interviewer come to the house to do an interview for a magazine who will presumably publish these pictures, and we're supposed to believe the body double is so identical in looks that her publicist thinks not a single one of the millions of fans who have seen this actress in dozens of different movies will notice the difference? Even if you could fool people with her looks, her voice can't possibly be identical, and yet not one single person who works for the real actress noticed a difference when the body double spoke? Seriously, how dumb are these people? I'm just not buying it. Then there was the absolutley ludicrous save-the-day moment at the end that seems ripped straight out of a cheesy B-grade movie. I won't spoil it by saying it here, but if you choose to read this book, you'll know exactly what moment I'm referencing when you get to it, and I'm willing to bet you will also roll your eyes like I did and maybe even mutter, "Oh brother!". Also, be forewarned that what you're actually getting here is a short story. The whole thing is only 136 pages. The last 40 pages are filled out with the first chapter of the next book and info about the writer's other books, etc..

Cowboy D-Force is the fourth book in The Brotherhood Protectors Series by Elle James. This series is a great blend of romance, action, and suspense - which is all set against the rugged backdrop of Montana. These books introduce us to a team of former military heroes who dedicate their lives to protecting others, all while navigating their own personal battles. Ms. James’ characters are definitely the heart of this series, and each protector is uniquely crafted, with a mix of strength, vulnerability, and charm. Their camaraderie and loyalty to one another also creates a sense of family that adds an extra element to the stories/series. These plots are fast-paced and packed with twists, cleverly blending high-stakes danger with heartfelt romance. Whether it's a SEAL turned cowboy, or a sniper finding love amidst chaos, each book delivers a satisfying mix of adrenaline and emotion. Elle James also weaves in themes of redemption, trust, and healing, making the series not just entertaining, but also heartfelt. With gripping storylines, endearing characters, and just the right amount of heat, this is a series that will leave you eagerly reaching for the next installment. Happy Reading…
Duke's foray into the protection field is slightly marred by a diva actress who doesn't know the meaning of NO! He is not sure he will survive this mission, but he knows one thing the diva he first met is different from the woman in front of him. Angel has taken on the role of a lifetime, pretending to be the diva she is the body double and stunt woman for. Seems easy, right? Well, it would have been if the sexy bodyguard didn't make her brain go haywire. Formidable alpha males, balancing their bravery with deep emotional struggles, and headstrong women who prove to be their undoing. It is charged with tension as they navigate this new environment as bodyguards. Along his journey, he encounters a diverse cast of characters, including resilient women who exude strength and empathy, showcasing their remarkable tenacity in the face of adversity. Cowboy D-Force is the fourth exciting tale of loyalty and courage, and looming threats jeopardise their lives and the lives they swore to protect. This story not only highlights the fierce devotion of its alpha heroes but also emphasises the importance of connection and resilience against a backdrop of uncertainty and danger.
Lena Love is a diva to the max, with an alcohol problem. When she over does it this time, her agent arranges for her stunt double to pretend to be her while they get her into rehab.
Angel Carson was fine with doing stunts, but to play the part of Lena while they try to catch a stalker was a bit much. Not really having a choice she settles into the elaborate ranch set up.
John Wayne “Duke” Morrison's first assignment for Brotherhood Protectors is bodyguard to Lena. After being party to her advances the previous night he definitely wasn't looking forward to it. However he is a professional and could handle whatever Lena decides to throw at him. Something is off with her though and at first he can't figure out what it is. Then she slips off to skinny dip in the pool, and he ends up saving her from the foreman's unwanted advances.
Now that Duke knows exactly who he's dealing with they come up with a plan to draw out the stalker/predator.
Tense situations, as the hunter becomes the hunted, situations that will have you giggling, sizzling romance and that all so worthy HEA.
This is the fourth book in the Brotherhood Protectors series. Duke has been medically discharged from the military and started a new job with the Brotherhood Protectors. His job is to protect the actress Lena Love who has made a lot of enemies and needs rehab for her drinking and drug habit. She also flashed Duke one night in a bar when he refused to dance with her. Lena Love has been receiving threats and her agent wants her protected at all costs. Angel Carson looks a lot like Lena Love and is actually her stunt woman and body double. When the threats start Lena's agent asked Angel to step in and be bait, which Angel agrees to since Lena will be safe in rehab. Angel can handle herself, she was medically discharged from the rangers, no one can know she is not the actress for this to work. There is a spark between Duke and Angel but Duke can not have a relationship with his client or can he? I love this book, the characters are amazing and the story keeps you guessing until the very end. This is a must read.
All these injured ex-servicemen are so adorable. They are also not well off medically or financially, and the women they choose seem to have every thing they need, money, property, and more importantly, independence. This story is about Duke and Angel. Shes the first one in this series who does not own property, and not terrible well off, although she saves every penny she can, so she can buy her own place when her current job dries up (stunt woman - she travels so much, so no need to have her own place and her body is getting to old for that job now, so she feels shes only got a year or two at most remaining). Angel works hard, saves hard, and has a wicked sense of humour, all click with Dukes own ethics. These two have a brilliant banter.
I dropped a star because there was one segment that didn't sit right with me..... and that was when all his mates parachuted in to rescue him and Angel, firing guns whilst dropping from the sky and hitting the target, even though the target was in a forest! Surly the canopy of trees would have limited their vision. Anyway, thats just my thoughts.....
Saying that, its still a great read, as is the rest of the series.
Nice action. Was disappointed in the beginning that Duke would even be turned on by Lena at her house as her bodyguard after he was so repulsed by her at the bar when she came on to him. I was repulsed. Angel was a dynamite girl. A hero and fighter and pure gold. I was on the way to giving this book a 2 stars. Thank his lucky stars that Duke used his Delta skills and realized something was different with the Lena he was now guarding . I would like to have seen an epilogue of where Duke and Angel’s future would be. You can’t-beat having an Army Ranger and a Delta being soulmates fir an interesting life together. Thank goodness for the Brotherhood. Angel should become a member of the Brotherhood Protectors
Brotherhood Protector: Cowboy D-Force by Elle James is a fun read. This well-written book is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited time for reading. Ms James has given us a suspenseful book and laced it with humor. I love the characters in Cowboy D-Force. Duke and Angel's story is loaded with drama, action and sizzle. I enjoyed reading Cowboy D-Force and look forward to reading more from Elle James in the future. Cowboy D-Force is book 4 of the Brotherhood Protectors Series and is part of the Brotherhood Protectors Kindle World but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Angel is the stunt double for actress Lena Love. Lena is headed back into rehab but someone is gunning for her. Step in Angel for two weeks. New to the Brotherhood team Duke had the unfortunate privilege of meeting Ms. Love at the bar last night. Today he is her bodyguard. She looks like Lena, has that spoiled Hollywood attitude but...oh well he only met her briefly and she obviously doesn’t remember him without the booze and pills. Angel and Duke both ex-service members have some chemistry and can handle themselves. I enjoyed this book, but it was too short, more like a novella. Needs a final chapter like an epilogue.
The Brotherhood Protection team are a formidable security agency and when Duke gets a medical discharge from the military he heads to Montana to his new position at the agency. His stop at a pub for a drink turns into a run in with Lena Love, a starlet bent on destruction. Duke ends up Lena’s bodyguard, well whom he believes is Lena but turns out to be her stunt double Angel Carson an ex Army Ranger. Duke doesn’t like that he’s been deceived but soon finds himself relieved as he finds himself attracted to Angel.

I loved the name the author gave the Cowboy D-Force of John Wayne Morrison, also known to his friends as 'Duke'. Angel taking the place of the snotty actress Lena Love was also an excellent match for a Delta Force retiree, as a retiree herself.
The ex-boyfriend got what he deserved when he attacked Duke and Angel in the mountains. The danger, suspense and the way the military heroes take care of business make this a hot story by an author I enjoy.
I borrowed Cowboy D-Force from the Kindle Unlimited program.
Action packed from the get-go, this book is packed full of interesting characters you can't help but love or despise as the case may be. Angel/Lela is a contradiction that plays havoc with Duke's libido and peace of mind. Duke just plain causes havoc to all of Angel. It's hot, but it's sweet, and I couldn't put it down.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good bodyguard, or military romance. Or anyone who loves a superbly written romance.
This was a quick listen. It wasn't too bad, wasn't too detailed, just ok.
I liked that Duke didn't fall for Lena because she was female and famous. I did like Angel. She had a unique skill set that tied right into Duke's. I don't know how Duke as a Special Forces operative managed to miss all of the slips Angel made while she was being Lena.
I was surprised that Lena didn't have a larger part in the book considering she was the one with the stalker. Did she even know she had a stalker?
There was some action and suspense, but I wish there had been more detail, more story, more something.
Angel is the stunt double for a famous actress. When they go to Montana it becomes clear the actress has a stalker who is intent on getting revenge on way or another😢 Angel and Lena’s publicist decide to get Lena away from Montana and have Angel pose as her for a few weeks to draw the stalker out - but Angel wasn’t prepared for the sexy bodyguard and the feelings he stirred😍
John Wayne "Duke" Morrison's (gotta love the name) first day on the job for Brotherhood Protectors and he gets stuck with a diva. The same obnoxious woman he encountered the night before...sheesh. Angel Carson thought pretending to be a mega star for a couple of weeks would be a piece of cake. A deadly stalker has other plans. Duke and Angel team up to take down a bad along with a little help from his friends.
Freshley discharged from D-Force, on Brotherhood’s payroll for bodyguard services, John Wayne “Duke” Morrison’s enjoying his drink when obnoxious film star Lena Love takes offense at Duke’s rebuff as he leaves the bar. Later, look-alike stuntwoman, Angel Carson and Lena’s publicist find drunken Lena passed out with a threat in indelible ink on her face. They quickly decide to get Lena in rehab and waste no time contacting a bodyguard while Angel pretends to be Lena Rating: 3stars
I enjoyed Duke and Angel's novella. It may have been short but there was certainly lots of action, with threats and shots fired and a publicist who seemed to be more interested in getting his client's name in the press than the safety of her stand in. Thankfully, Duke wants to protect the very attractive woman (whoever she is), and Angel isn't anything like the vacuous bitch she's standing in for. Gregory Salinas did a great job of narrating the male and female characters.
The Brotherhood Protector series continues with Duke and Angel's story. Not sure who's after Lena Love sparks Phillip her publicist & her stunt double, Angel to her a bodyguard. Only Lena is going to rehab and Angel's posing as Lena to lure the killer out in the open. Must Read
Fourth book of the series. A quick and fast paced book to read. Insta Love plot. It's a good book but kinda lack of something. The stalker of Lena/Angel is kinda obvious. The connection between Duke and Angel is fast and insta love. Some scenes are predictable already. I'm kinds interested on Duke's teammates.
Duke started his new job the same day he was assigned to a movie star. Their first meeting was it good. Their second meeting was funny and it took him a bit to realize her secret. Someone e really is trying to kill her. A D Force operator and a Green Beret should do the trick!! Very good!!!
This was absolutely ridiculous, poorly written and extremely hilarious. 2⭐️ because of those reasons. The characters were so mediocre and their development just as so that I have to give it an extra ⭐️ rating. The plot is insane and the spicy scenes were terrible but I had fun during the ride I guess.
Very jnjoyable ,fast action ,suspense,so injoy Elle James stories I highly recommend reading this one will not be disappointed. Fast short story oh and cannot forget hot romance.
