Ever present in art and mythology, animals have made an indelible impression on our psyche. The Animals Divine Tarot can help us reconnect with the natural world and tune into animal energies for a more intuitive, insightful outlook on life. Gorgeous and graceful, Lisa Hunt's watercolor imagery showcases sacred creatures and deities from a myriad of Aztec, Incan, Indian, Japanese, African, Native American, Greek, Roman, and others. Bast, the cat-headed goddess of Egypt, proudly fulfills the High Priestess role while the adventurous coyote treads a rocky path as The Fool. Inspiring imagination and contemplation, this soulful tarot deck invites us to recognize our inner creatures and merge with our animal energies. The Tarot Deck is really beautifully drawn. It is based on the traditional Rider Waite deck. Card stock is shiny, a little thin for my preference but overall quality is acceptable.
The reason this did not get 5 stars is because the book, while explaining the imagery in detail, it gives very brief meanings of the card. For example, such as The Empress and The Emperor, it states "Animus, Anima".
On the very positive side, if are quite familiar with the traditional meanings, you would see the reason why she chose specific animals for the cards. I won't spoil the surprise for you but look out for the Bee !
Unless you have a basic knowledge of the cards, or you are trained to read by intuition, this deck will be rather tough to work with. Regardless, Lisa Hunt is well known for her stunning artwork and I'm sure you can always Google for specific meanings of the card (I personally favor biddytarot.com).
This is actually a book and a pack of tarot cards. The book is setup a bit oddly---most have everything in list order and has the basics of tarot spreads readings in it somewhere. This book is set up a bit strangely in that the face cards are separated from the rest of the suit. It's a little annoying, I'll admit, and I'm tempted to rebind the book myself. Also, they take some very basic spreads and rename them as their own. While the book itself is off, the cards of the set are wonderous. Very good artwork and I have a very strong connection to the cards (it helps that the ace of swords are ducklings). The artwork is also amazing.
