I had a hard time rating this book because I kept wanting to like it simply because I got to interact with some of my favorite characters from Felice Stevens' "Memories with The Breakfast Club" series some more. However, she really didn't use those characters very well and then she decided to focus more on drama and angst than on the relationship between Kirk and Jamie. I decided on 2 stars based on the fact that I thought she did well in her development of their characters and what we got to see of them together. I think her concept of story was a good one... just not one that could be properly developed and completed in 98 pages. So much was left either never explored or worse yet not resolved, especially Alec's fate and also the results of Don's trial. The story feels like it was rushed to publication; an example is that the page listing the author's book starts outwith "If you enjoyed Adam & Kyle's story..." obviously it was cut and pasted from another of her books and she didn't even both to change the names to Kirk and Jamie.
Overall this story was ok... just no where near what it could have been.

Oh So Good!
Jamie has to be one of the most gullible, dumbest characters I read about in a very long time. Kirk warned him but he didn’t want to listen even though two cops warned him about that creepy ass man. I love a good angsty story and this fit the bill. I was worried for a minute Don was going to do more until I remembered how short this story was. This was a great introduction to this author for me.

New to me author. This was a short mm contemporary story. Very predictable but great MCs. I’ll read this author again.

I so wish we could stop needing to write stories about children being tossed into the street and abused physically and emotionally for no other reason than being themselves. Jamie is outed to his conservative parents by a relative is thrown physically out of his home and then both physically and verbally abused by his father. Luckily someone called in the domestic abuse and the police brings Kirk to Jamie's rescue. The story unfolds from there as Kirk can't seem to get Jamie out of his mind. When Jamie's stubborn nature gets him into more trouble with a local preditor. Kirk is called in again to rescue Jamie who despite everything has fallen for Kirk despite the age gap between them. It's nice to have a happy ending to the story with the two men coming together. In some respects I would have enjoyed a slightly longer version that would have included outcome for the sexual preditor in the story.

Playing It Close to the Line
The major concern some might have here is that this is supposed to be a romance between a 29-year-old cop and the 19-year-old gay man whom he saved from a vicious beating by his father after he was deliberately outed--the difference in ages, of course, is what first pops up as a caution.
But that's a minor aspect of this very nicely plotted sidebar to the Breakfast Club series. There's lots of turmoil throughout, from cop Kirk's overprotective crush on a very stubborn Jamie to the secrets they stumble upon about each other.
And then there's a truly nasty sequence of events that form the heart of the plot--when proud and naïve Jamie gets swept up by a predator who you will hate immediately.
Needless to say this harrowing plot twist leads to a sweet ending that is even believable. Nicely done.

Saving Us
I sit here just finishing this book and so happy. A.D. used Felice’s character perfectly in this book. I loved the book.
It’s a quick, short read that keeps the story flowing. So worth the read. I also feel there could be a follow up story after reading this one.
So we meet Kirk and Jamie after Jamie has suffered and at probably the lowest time of his life. Kirk is his hero.
However, Jamie doesn’t want a hero. He wants to be able to handle everything thrown his way on his own without any help. Which we find gets him into some trouble.
I really did love this story. The storyline sucked me in, I loved the characters, and would love to see another story spun off of this one.

Once again A.D. Ellis has written a wonderful, touching story. I felt all the emotions as I read. Saving Us is a beautiful romance but it is so much more. It deals with homophobia, violence(this happened before the story started), and predation. It also deals with inner strength, self-acceptance, growth, and overcoming the obstacles in life. I highly recommend reading this story.
Saving Us really touched my heart and made me cry. "For all the Roy’s out there." May there come a day when there are no more Roy's, and Jamie's, out there. A day when all families accept their children with unconditional love.

I love this book and the fact that it ties into the The Breakfast Club series is such a great treat! The characters are very real in what they are facing in their lives and sexuality. Jamie is the type of character that many people can come to grips with since unfortunately his is a story that we have come to hear often. While John's story is also one that heard often and doesn't always end as well as his did. It was great to see the two of them overcome their demons to be able to love and trust one another. Can't wait to read more books in both these series.

I have read most of this author's books and series and this story just wasn't up to her usual standards. The relationship between Jamie and Kirk missed the spark, the lust, the intensity. The two men spend more time bickering at the beginning and worrying during their time apart before falling into bed in the last chapter of the book, without having actually developed any true connection. There is little background description and sometime the two lovers just felt two-dimensional.

The plot and the characters had potential, and this story could have been great if it had been longer; as it is, everything sort of went at a weird pace and there wasn't a very neat development.
Also, my rating gets affected by the many typos and editing errors there were. Very serious polishing is needed.

OMG, another great entry in this series. What a perfect fit for the Breakfast Club crowd. This was terrifying and sweet by turns. With a real bad guy and a resilient and strong young man who fights back the best way he knows how this book will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Short and sweet
This is a novella style book; it's short, but intense and sexy. It's a May/December M/M romance. I had to look up the May/December, basically there's a big age gap in the relationship. Good read, recommend.

Just Okay
I know this is a short read but there was no real depth to the story. I has to double check I hadn't read it previously as it was entirely too familiar. As I hadn't read it, I can only therefore label it as predictable.

Story feels so real it's scary yet pulls on your heartstrings
Frustrating friction, knowing the attraction is both ways. Some parts seem traumatizing, you'll sigh in relief it gets a happy ending. The only downside is some typographical errors.

Good
This book was written in a good way. Love comes in all forms of the universe. Jamie was kicked out of his home because of his sexual preference. But he ended up with so much more. Kirk gave him the love that he needed to survive.
