Defending Danielle

***This book was previously published in Amazon Kindle Worlds***

Drew “Red” Harrison is a man on a mission.

As part of an elite United States Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance team, he’s done it all—covert intelligence gathering, national security threat elimination, Black Ops. But when their most recent mission goes bad, Drew and his team are brought back stateside to run security detail for Virginia senator George Lytle when the Mexican drug cartel that kidnapped his daughter threatens retaliation.

The last thing Drew wants is to be pulled from an Op to babysit a pretentious senator and his spoiled daughter, but he is prepared to do his job. The only upside is getting to see his old friend, Cookie, as he and his team of Navy SEALs are honored at a benefit gala for rescuing the senator’s daughter.

Little does Drew know that the threats are viable, and not only are he and both teams about to face down a drug lord hell bent on revenge, but his past is about to catch up with him when Senator Lytle’s intern is none other than Danielle Jackson, the awkward girl who crushed on him in high school as she tutored him in physics . . . only the ugly little duckling has blossomed into a smokin’ hot swan.

As sparks ignite between them, Drew suddenly has no idea who’s more dangerous—the ruthless drug lord he’s trained his whole career to face, or the sexy blast from his past he could’ve never prepared for, but would now die to protect.

***Susan Stoker’s Navy SEALs combine with my United States Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance team in an explosive new love story as part of the exciting Special Operation Alpha World!

Defending Danielle is by Shauna Allen. This book is very quick to read and very exciting.
Drew “Red” Harrison and his US Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance team has just had a mission go bad. Instead of staying and trying to figure out what happened, he and his team are brought back to run security for George Lytle, Virginia Senator. He is giving a big party for the SEAL team who retrieved his daughter when she was kidnapped by the Mexican drug cartel. The last thing he wants to do is babysit for the SEAL team and their wives at a party. However, he knows the men deserve all the praise they can get. However, when he and his team meet with the Senator, he finds out that the Senator’s assistant is Danielle Jackson who he knew in high school. He is amazed at how she changed from an awkward nerd to a beautiful lady. Now he has to try to keep his mind off Danielle and on his mission.
Danielle is surprised to see Drew when he came into the office. Surprised and dismayed. She had a crush on him in high school and he saw her only as the nerd to tutored him in physics so he could play football. She is determined he will not have the power to hurt her again. She has a job to do and will do it. Now if only her heart will obey.
Can Drew keep his mind on the mission and off Danielle? What will happen at the gala?

I want to start out saying one of my favorite things about this novella was seeing the way the author connected it to my favorite series of hers, Jack Em Up. Danielle Jackson is the "little" sister of one of my favorite Jack Em Up heroines. Drew "Red" Harrison is a Special Forces member who is brought in on an op regarding a Senator's connection to a drug cartel. He shows up in Washington DC to discover that Danielle, the awkward girl who tutored hi in physics in high school, has now turned into a beautiful swan and has a major connection to the op as the senator's intern. I loved reading about all of the other couples as part of this Kindle world and I want to read all of the other books. I loved this book, but I really wish it would have been a full length book!

As part of an elite United States Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance team, Drew has done it all, when things go wrong though his unit is pulled out and their new assignment is to run security for Senator Lytle. The Mexican cartel wants revenge, they are the ones that kidnapped his daughter Julie.
Not what Drew wants to do, the only thing so far that is good about the assignment is that he gets to see his old friend Cookie, as he and the team of Navy Seals are being honored at the benefit for rescuing his daughter.
But the threats are real, and both teams are about to face down a drug lord that is bent on vengeance, but there are more surprises for Drew and among them is Danielle Jackson the girl that had a crush on him in High School, and that awkward girl has blossomed into a hot woman.
Its a cool story, short and to the point, and seeing old friends in this book was a plus for me.

Drew and Danielle had ties in high school. The high school jock and the nerd. Fast forward many years and Drew and Danielle come back into contact. Now it is law school student and Marine.

I love that this is a second chance love story. Danielle and Drew are great characters. Danielle may still be self conscious that she is still a nerd but you see some sass in there. Drew is a alpha Marine with a heart of gold. He is so sexy and romantic.

This is a fast moving novella that has plenty of swoon worthy romance and plenty of angst. When the bad goes down the Marines and the Seals are there to protect. I loved that we also got to see the entire gang of the Jack 'Em Up series.

Another great addition to the Special Forces series.

A Love Meant To Be

This was a really read. It had action and suspense and I didn’t want to put it down. Drew, aka Red, is a Marine also a former high school a$$hole. Danielle, aka Dani and Belle, is the beautiful assistant to a Senator and former high school nerd who had a massive crush on Drew and tutored him. Drew and his Marine Team are assigned as security for a gala the senator is throwing to honor the Seal Team who rescued his daughter who was kidnapped by sex traffickers. Drew is instantly attracted to Danielle and has to convince her to give him a chance to redeem himself. I loved getting to see our old friends Wolf and his team and of course where there are Military men, there are bad guys and this one is a doozy. There are bombs, gunfire, knives and kisses.

Enjoyable-ish read.

But, I felt that there were odd inconsistencies across the series. If Drew had been at 'school' with Danielle... he would've know Blake et al... they were all there together. Frustrating. How come 1) Delilah and Blake would be ok leaving their kids with her cold parents? 2) Why would Delilah's parents even want to look after them? 3) The dad thanking Drew for saving his daughters? He never cared before about them... just what they could do for his career. It felt like a deviation from their characters in previous tales, especially his.

It might seem odd for me to focus on that... but, it was a complete distraction from the current story. There were several others points that grated also...

Defending Danielle by Shauna Allen....This book was amazing had me on the edge of my seat. Shauna Allen has outdone herself with this Susan Stoker Kindle World, it will have you flipping pages. This book is action packed, with former high school friends Drew and Danielle finding each other years later. Danielle had a crush on Drew, but drew was all into himself in high school. Drew is crazy for Danielle now and wants to start over, but things could get in the way. I voluntarily reviewed an advance readers copy of this book.

Drug?

The book was a bit ridiculous. Danielle was in love with Drew since high school, but he never took her seriously the whole time she tutored him in Physics. Unrequited love. Then, years later he's on a mission in Washington, DC. She's working as an intern for a senator, and suddenly he is crazy about her. It only took 5 minutes! If course danger and mayhem ensue.
Also, why do people use the word "drug" in place of "dragged?". For example, He drug them out of the van." DRAGGED! Who edited this?

Drew and Danielle knew each other in High School and she was his tutor. He was a young and cocky football player back then and Danielle was a nerd. They didn't see each other again till they were in Virginia and she was an intern for Julie's father the senator. The seal team was invited there to honor them for the efforts in rescuing his daughter. But something else was afoot and Drew felt he had a second chance with her. There is alot of action and the drug cartel was back again.

Even though the logistics of this cute little love story aren't based on reality, since Marine Recon would never be assigned a protective detail for a senator, I really enjoyed this book. From the moment the high school jock doesn't see the girl crushing on him to the moments that come later, it's all good! Lots of hot spice and well choreographed love scenes, great character development, and clean editing made this a joy to read. This is what the romance genre is all about.

High School reunion

One had a crush and one was the king of school…years later they meet again and things are different for them both. Picks up off of the senators daughter being kidnapped and the cartel wants revenge. Fast paced and interesting story. Some what predictable on who is kidnapped, but still enjoyable story and good characters. Loved seeing Wolf, cookie and then in action!

Drew and Danielle's story has elements of second chance romance and insta love. Fortunately the author is talented enough to make it plausible and engrossing. I recommend reading this series, you won't be disappointed. Fyi this series is a crossover with Susan Stoker's Seals of Protection series (which I also recommend).

Love me a good second chance romance

Even though this second chance was only one sided it was great. Always love the books with Susan Stokers book buddies in it. Glad one of the bad guys is gone for good. Can’t wait to read book two. Keep writing and I will keep reading. Thank you.

High school sweetheart?

A love story that began in high school, that was more one sided, but when a second chance opportunity comes up, can she forgive him for the past? Will they even have a chance to see what the future holds for them? A good read!
