I’m not supposed to want him, but with a body like that…how can I resist? I’ve always had a thing for my dad’s best friend. I know he’s off limits. I know that nothing can ever happen between us. I was granted an ARC of Alexa Banger's "My First and Only: A Dad's Best Friend Romance Novella" via Booksprout; however, I'm gladly recommending it based upon its own merits. I enjoyed this book as this short story is on par, & I'll look forward to more opportunities to read Alexa's work in the future. All opinions expressed within this review are uniquely my own & freely given.

I would say this was your average, run of the mill, age gap novella. There was nothing wrong with it, believe me it had it's cheesetastic moments and cringy dialogue to move the story along quickly but that's pretty common in these novellas. There just wasn't anything to make it really stand out. So if you like age gap romances and are looking for a quick read, this will scratch that itch.

My First and Only was about 19-year-old Mia (no last name) and her father's BFF, Walter Davidson (no age given).
Mia had known Walter for all of her life (Walter and her dad had been friends for 30-plus years), and had a massive crush on him. Walter, on the other hand, was a well-known player who used women for one night only, then tossed them aside faster than he could get the door shut behind them on their way out.
Shortly before Christmas, Mia's parents were arguing in the kitchen, a disagreement she overheard regarding her dad telling Walter he could stay with them for a week while his condo was being repaired. Mia's mother was angry because they only had two bedrooms, and Mia was home from college for the holidays. Mia's dad mentioned that she had two beds in her room, which sent her mother into another shouting match. Her dad won the conversation in the end because Mia interrupted them and basically gave him the easy way out of the argument.
I'm not going to write more about the story because from this point on things just got weird. What I will do is say, it wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be. Things just had a bad tone to it from the opening to the ending. There were times that I felt something inappropriate had happened between Mia's mother and Walter because of her strong reactions to his presence. However, there was nothing in the story that supported my theory, so maybe it was just me. Whatever the case, this story just didn't work for me, so I only gave it a two-star rating.

Wow, wow, wow - what a scorcher, but with a romantic undertone
I received a free copy of this book but all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
This is the first book of Alexa's that I've read but it will by no means be the last. It has just the right of amount of sexy scenes whilst not being overly obscene (but boy will it still leave you squirming in your seat whilst loosening your collar!). I love the older man, younger woman dynamic and this book certainly does not disappoint on that front, yet it remains an overall feel good love story. It will grab you from the beginning and leave you rather wet by the end! Love it.

Mia is home for winter break. Her father is having his best friend stay with them until the broken water pipe in his house gets fixed. He's sleeping in Mia's room in the other twin bed. What could go wrong when two people who like each other sleep in the same room?
Mia feels very shy which is normal for someone who has no experience with this. Walter is very understanding and I liked that. The forced proximity was fantastic. Parents are always are prone to not want what you do. The want they both have for each other is so much more than I expected. This is so sexy. I loved how much smut is in here. I couldn't get enough. The ending was everything I needed.

A hot love story! I loved the loved story first, and then how well the characters were portrayed and the detailed love scenes were over the top good and deliciously detailed! Walter and Mia are not the average couple, and I think her mom totally tried to keep them apart. But these two characters worked for each other, plus they had compatible sex drives, so it was like they were made for each other. This is my first time reading this author and this slice of this genre, so it was a cool experience!

This is a older man and a younger women romance and they tend to be one of my favorite genres as older men tend to have more experience and are more settled than young guys which is good. Walter is in town and ends up staying with his best friend Paul and family. Mia is also home and she has carried a torch for him for a long time and the kicker they have to share a room. Such a great fun sexy read.

This short steamy novella was a fun time. The one thing that was hard for me to get past was the MMC name. His name was… wait for it… Walter 🤢 HOW can that name be sexy? Please tell me… I’ll wait.
I love a good Dads best friend romance and this had a bit of forced proximity to it too. The heroine was a virgin which always makes it fun. There was a breeding kink to it as well. It was just a good time.

I really enjoyed this book and found it to be interesting and a romance between characters that really cared for each other. The story-line kept my interest and I love the older man/younger woman theme and of course the dad's best friend theme made it even better. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.

Again this was suggested to me.
I have given it four stars because the author elevated the story and relationship above a soft porn view in comparison to the other book suggest to me to read.
If you enjoy reading books with a relationship between an 18-year-old and a 40-year-old, fully consensual, sexual discovery, with a HEA then consider this recommended.

Really enjoyed this book.
I really loved Mia and Walters story. I enjoyed the fact that the story itself had more depth. I liked how Walters attitude changed once he met the right woman, without either of them losing any of their feistiness (hope that's the right word I'm looking for) . I'd happily recommend this book.

There was very little story to this book and the way they depicted Walter as a playboy was a complete turnoff. One second he's saying he doesn't do relationships and the next he is almost weirdly announcing she is going to be the mother of his child and move in with him?! Strange. Besides that it was like one long sex scene after another that didnt hold my interest.

Timing ~ I enjoyed reading this story. Age is just a number, but when you meet your one and only, then it’s just about timing. I enjoyed the little teases, before they got serious. She knew about his past, he knew she was the one for forever. It touched on so many feelings, the good and not so good. Loved their epilogue.
