Rate this book
Fortress Security operative Matt Rainer races to a friend's side when she is attacked. Determined to keep her safe, the medic appoints himself as Delilah's bodyguard. Within hours, he foils another attempt on her life. Soon, they find a connection between events in Otter Creek and Delilah's past. Now, Matt has a two-pronged mission: discover who wants Delilah dead and convince the candle shop owner to trust Matt with her heart.

Wicks owner Delilah Frost never thought the Fortress medic who caught her eye would have to protect her from danger. After several attempts on her life, Delilah faces reality. Someone wants to kill her. When she falls into the killer's trap, her only hope for survival is the Special Forces soldier in the enemy's crosshairs.

When Delilah Frost lost her father to cancer at the age of 14, her life changed drastically... and not for the better. She was verbally abused and bullied throughout high school by her family and the majority of the people in town. Once she graduated from high school, she left her home town of Harmony and never looked back. While in college, she decided that enough was enough. It was time to take her life back. She worked long and hard to get to where she was and she refused to let her past hold her back.

Needing a fresh start, she moves to Otter Creek and opens her very own candle shop, Wicks. She never imagined that the small town would welcome her with open arms. For the first time since her father passed away, she has friends and feels like she belongs. She knows that Otter Creek is where she's meant to be. Now if she could only catch the eye of the handsome medic, Matt. ;)

Matt Rainer has had his eye on the beautiful candle shop owner since he arrived in Otter Creek with PSI. He's been working to get past the friend zone for awhile. When he receives a call from Delilah telling him that she has been attacked by an intruder in her home, his protectiveness kicks into overdrive. He doesn't know who is behind the attack or why but he knows that he will do everything in his power to make sure Delilah is protected and taken care of.

If the attack isn't enough, Delilah receives a call from her stepfather telling her her mom is dying and is requesting she come home to see her one last time before it's too late. To say she's torn is an understatement. She hasn't been home since she graduated high school. She's no where near ready to face her past, but she wants to see her mom. When Matt informs her that he's going with her, along with his teammate Cade and his wife Sasha, she knows that with them by her side, she can do it.

But when trouble follows Delilah to Harmony, she'll have to accept reality. Someone is out to kill her and isn't afraid to hurt others along the way. It's going to be up to Matt and Bravo team to stop the enemy before it's too late. But protecting their family is what they do. The enemy won't know what hit them.

Oh my gosh! You guys! I have been dying for this book to be released! I was going through some serious withdrawals! Haha. So when I received an email stating Under Fire was live, I squealed, did a happy dance, and one-clicked this baby! I couldn't wait to read it! I was NOT disappointed! I was sucked in from the very beginning and got mad when real life got in the way of my reading time! I loved this book! And it was so fun to catch up with everyone in Otter Creek!

I know that this one just came out but I can't wait for the next release! Ms. Deel has become an auto-buy author for me. I can't wait to see where she takes us next!

And of course we can't forget my casting! *dreamy sigh* I adore these two! What do you think?

This book is just the same plot, as the other books without any real difference. Author is definitely in a writing rut, as it's predicable and boring. Each and every character in all her books loves tea, uses a lot of endearments (thankfully, not as many as previous books), gets home security updates, new cell phones, and military grade SUV's. Even the dialog is the same about how the women will accept the military lifestyle and the men's missions and actions.

Not everything in the book is bad. Great action sequences, nice romance and quick-witted dialog between security members, but the lack of something different has made this series and her others grow stagnate.

Fantastic!

I love this series! You do not have to read all of them to enjoy each story! Each one is completely able to stand alone but the friends are so close it means more as a series. Matt and Delilah are awesome and her story is a personal struggle for many people. I really enjoyed this book. I thought Rebecca did a fantastic job with the book.

Nice, adventure tale

Heat level: warm. Characters: You'll like the people you are supposed to, not like the jerks. Story: mystery adventure with clean love Over all: Read it. It's a good story... Sorta Spoilers: But, eating disorder is almost brought up more than needed, and sexual assault is a possible issue for some so use cation. It isn't graphic and isn't completed but for some it may be enough to set off bad feelings.

HIGHLY ENTERTAINING THRILLER

Another intense adventure full of non stop action and suspense. Matt, a medic and employee of Fortress Security, comes to the rescue of Delilah, a woman who he has been attracted to from afar. Someone attacked her in her apartment and calls Matt to help her. The drama begins as they venture back to her home town to figure out why someone is trying to kill her. An intense and very enjoyable read.

Love the Otter Creek series and really enjoyed this one too. Took a couple of chapter to "get to know" new characters

Love the Otter Creek series and this new one too. Took a couple of chapters to get to know the new characters but not disappointed. Am looking forward to further Otter Creek books with perhaps an update on all the old favourites.

Fantastic

This book is just beautiful. Yes, it is a suspense romance. With only kisses, Matt comes across as one of the sexiest men alive. As with other Fortress books, the damsel is under attack but this book goes so far beyond that. It is a truly beautiful book that left me in tears at the end. Perhaps one of Deel's best books

Matt’s story

It’s Matt’s turn. It’s a great story with lots of action. There is also another baby due for Dell & Josh. Lots of fun and a great read. Another one for my re-read stack. 5 stars.

Clean, romantic, fast-paced storyline

The characters had a depth that I appreciated. The story had zigs and zags that kept the reader guessing. I would have loved one more chapter.

Wonderful Story

I really enjoyed this book, it was a great story without any sex. I like sex in books but sometimes the story is more sex than story, this book was more story....

Ok read but read better

Too many characters became confusing and was a bit predictable. Was ok but wouldn’t read again. Not any real memorable moments

Loved it

Another great story in the Otter Creek series. It is like visiting old friends with every new Otter Creek and Fortress Security book. It makes me want to go back and read all the previous books in whichever series the new book is part of. In fact that is what I am about to do.
