Ms. Lynne’s Bad Boy Cowboy is our seventh visit to Cattle Valley. A town, which is fast becoming a much loved place to visit - and never leave if we had a choice.
In this visit we get a peek into the goings on at the EZ Does-It Ranch. With Wynn and Ezra together and Smokey getting the boot, you would think things had settled down on that spread of land. But noooooooo, the ranch foreman Jax is at it - this time.
When Logan Miller turned up at the ranch on his motor bike, Jax was not prepared for the body that climbs off that bike. The attraction between the two is instantaneous from the first hug. For reasons that Jax is unwilling to disclose, he ignores the attraction. When Logan tires of the cold shoulder and mood swings he lets Jax know that he wants him. Jax has to decide if he can accept the love of a man who has refined his life in order to be with him?
With every book Ms. Lynne throws at us, we get sucked into her world further and further. Jax and Logan are both likeable characters that have simple taste, had their ups and downs and is at a place in their lives where they are trying to move on and make the best of what life presents them with.
Jax is recovering from heartbreak and shame. While Logan refuses to accept that he cannot have what he has built his whole life towards. When Jax finally give in and takes that tentative first step – his insecurity kicks in. Logan soon finds out that loving Jax close up is much harder work than loving him from afar.
With the usual mention of the other residents of the Valley and a little self plug by Ms Lynne, Bad Boy Cowboy is a worthy addition to the Cattle Valley series filled with high levels of sexual and emotional tension.
eh--it wasn't bad. I liked the MC's, but I never got emotionally involved. The story was well paced. It's a okay story, when ya need quit shot of some cowboy lovin'. It just didn't grab me. I did like Logan and the bull riding. I didn't know if I wanted to tell him to keep his fool ass off the bull, or to root hi on.
I like that Jax and Logan's relationship wasn't all easy, breezy, beautiful, coverboy. I like that they had to fight for each other. Now if both of them had been honest initially then we'd have had smoother sailing and probably not as interesting a story.
I really like how the author plugged her other series by having Logan read the Campus Cravings book. I wasn't too impressed with book one but I'll definitely read the rest and see what's so special about Bear's story ;-)
Nice and easy read. I liked both characters (but Jax's my favorite and I'd like him having a little more action), but some of the obstacles felt kinda... childish somehow. I mean they'd been worrying over pretty stupid little things, but whatever - the ending was sweet and that's all I care about :)
Bad Boy Cowboy is the seventh book in the Cattle Valley series. In this story, we again meet Jax Brolin, a ranch hand, and Logan Miller, who is hired on to the ranch. This book is told in third person from both MCs povs.
It's been a few years since I read a Carol Lynne book because I felt like they'd all gotten samey-samey. I thought it had been long enough that it would be like new again but . . . not so much. I don't think the cowboy was much of a bad boy, and their reasons for failing to communicate seemed a little thin. Mostly it was fine, but I don't think it'll stick with me.
I saw this book cover years ago when first joined Goodreads. I never got chance to read it back then even though loved the cover and summary right off I didn't even know that it was in a series either when read it. I finally got it this month even though have it in paper back in two book set.
Logan has wanted Jax for years. He modeled his entire life by the way that Jax lived so he could work with Jax when he got older. He wanted to have his own motorcycle shop and work on bikes instead of ranches. However, Jax loved working on a ranch and had since he was twelve.
Jax isn't into making a relationship with Logan because of a past affair that left him heartbroken with guilt on how it ended. Jax had fallen in love with the guy who treated him horribly. He even blames his self for maybe being a part of Mitch dying since they had an argument about him telling Mitch's partner about them. Mitch promised to kill him if he told and Jax knew that the threat was real. Ezra got the call and told Jax that Mitch was dead that night after Kyle and Gill's wedding.
Because of that still resting on his mind and heart Jax isn't wanting to start another relationship. He's on Logan's back about the way he dresses and Logan's tells him off about it. Logan's doing it trying to get Jax's goat about it. Logan doesn't like that Jax is talking to another guy in town even though its as a friend. Logan gets a little bit drunk and when they go to leave after Logan beats a guy up for backhanding Jax they have a talk.
The talk is about what Logan want to actually do with his life since Jax finds out that its not being on a ranch. Logan confesses that he wants to be like Jax in every way so he can be with him. He reveals that he never graduated high school and Jax tells him to get his GED. Jax had been floored that Logan had dropped out. He wants him to go to business school as well. Logan says he'll think about it. The only problem that Logan has is his embarrassment about not being able to read that well.
Thankfully Eli, one of the teachers at the Cattle Valley school agrees to tutor him. Logan refuses to tell Jax about his problem. He also has another thing that he has to work on, which is bull riding. Jax said something in the truck on way home and it got to Logan. He decided he was going to ride the bull without telling Jax. He claims that Jax practically baited him into it so he's going to do it.
They finally get their act together after a week when something Logan says is taken the wrong way. It was same night that he road home with Jax after bar fight he had. It went back to Jax not wanting to be a dirty secret like he had been with Mitch.
Their relationship is sweet and loving. It takes them time to work through the problems that they both have. Logan's hang up about being embarrassed that he doesn't know how to read good. Jax being crushed when he said I love you to Mitch and got betrayed. I was so happy when they got it together though. They had an argument about Logan wanting to ride bulls though and even when he got hurt Jax was still there to take care of him. Logan busted his wrist so he couldn't do as much work, but still pulled his own
While he was on the mind Jax talked to Gill about a place for Logan to make his own motorcycle shop. Jax also found out about Logan's reading problem. They work together on reading after another week of Logan's pride getting in his way. It was so wonderful of Eli to help Logan work his way towards his GED prep time. He didn't make him feel like all his former high school teachers did. I was the same when it came to math so it felt little close to home.
Another one of Carol's series was talked about in this story with Jax reading Campus Cravings. I thought that was kind of cool :) It was funny that Logan didn't know that they had books about gay sex out there. That had been one of my favorite parts in the book besides the relationship and sex.
By the time that the book ended Jax was able to say the words I Love You and believe that Logan did love him back. That was a big step for him because of what was done to him in the past. His guilt is fading for what happened with Mitch for sure.
The sex is hot as always and every Tuesday Logan takes him over the office desk at the motorcycle shop. The sex they had out in the field was hot too against the truck and in bed as well. It's never a dull moment when it came to these two
The other locals were also in here along with some mentions of up coming and former mentioned characters. Kyle's not having to use his wheel chair at all now. This took place at the same time that Out Of The Shadow did since the argument that they had about Logan riding took place in Out Of The Shadow as well.
So should have read this sooner and can't wait for the next one.
As I just said in the past, the Cattle Valley gay soap opera is a mix of full angst, medium angst and totally funny books. In the fictional gay town of Cattle Valley, every possible type of romance is represented, and this time is the bad boy - good boy play that is on.
Logan is a tattooed, biker and handsome cowboy. He actually is more fond of bikes than horses, but he has also a crush on Jax, his best friend's older brother, and since the man is a born cowboy, Logan chose the same path to be near him. But during the time he spent to grow up and close the 8 years age difference, Jax had a very bad love experience and now he is cautious when he deals with love. And loving a bad boy cowboy is probably not a good choice if he wants a steady relationship.
The book is all spent reading on how both men try to behave in the best possible way to please the other, only ending to make the worst possible errors. There isn't much drama, and also the problems are not so huge to not be easily overcome. The mainly is Logan's trouble with school and his struggle to obtain a GED.
This one could be considered a passage book, a relaxing story between some more exciting and fundamental events happening in Cattle Valley.
Jax Brolin has known Logan Miller pretty much since the day he was born... He's his litte brother's best friend and when he was in need of a job on a gay friendly ranch, Jax didn't hesitate to give it to him, but he knows he needs to be careful or the temptation that is Logan will get the better of him.
His heart was put through the ringer by a several year long affair with someone he shouldn't have given his heart to and he puts himself through hell as punishment and decides that love is for the birds but when Logan sets his mind to something, he usually gets it. And his mind has been on Jax since he was 12 years old, he doesn't even like ranch work but it's what he does so that he can be close to the man he wants to be with.
The relationship between these two gets off to an incredibly rocky start and there is a lot of fighting to be done before things start to go smoothly. Logan is stubborn and when he gives his word about something, he'll do it whether it means he could get killed or not and that is final.
We got the full story of these boys and it was one of the best books so far! Who doesn't love a bad boy cowboy :)
I loved Logan, I really felt for him, he came from a bad home situation after his parents died and he found solace in Jax and "Jakey's" home. Sent to work at the EZ Does It, Logan's love for Jax still runs deep, but he'd never told him about it, and Jax has some issues to work out on his own. We don't ever see or hear anything else about Jakey, other than Jax saying that he can't start anything with Logan because he's Jakey's best friend. He got over that part pretty quick though. Logan done everything he could to get Jax to notice him or to take him serious and it hurt to see him try so hard only to get rejected.
However, once Jax let his guards down and let Logan in, it wasn't smooth sailing, but.... things got better. One thing that really bothered me in this one was the secret Jax was keeping from Hearn, I really hope that gets worked out, Hearn needs to know. I really loved how much Jax believed in Logan and wanted to help him as much as he could to reach his dream. That's what true love is all about, I loved it! can't wait to read more!
I kind of think its funny that I am a straight female and yet I am reading gay romance I have never read gay romance before the reason I read this book originally is because I have a friend who is gay that is simply in love with this book series because he has told me all about this series (a lot) I figured I would give it a go well all I can is is my friend has fabulous taste (not that he would ever let me forget that for even a second) I may be a straight female but I simply love the guys in the series I could not stop reading at one book I just had to know what was happening in Cattle Valley ... so far I have read the first 10 books in the series and the more I read the more I fall in love with this series I think its just wonderful I hope all people gay lesbian bi straight whatever find such a happy wonderful place to live in peace and joy I am going to read this full series once I get a chance to as I simply have to know who winds up with who this is better than watching the soaps I just love it .. :)
Well, I've been reading the Cattle Valley Series in Order and Book 7 was pretty standard for the series. Lots of sex. Hot, horny cowboys...It's all good:)
Logan & Jax were enjoyable MCs in an enjoyable storyline. I liked them, but didn't love them. It was a quick read and was never boring. Jax is the supervisor of a staff of ranch hands on a working ranch owned by Ezra, an MC from an earlier book in the series. Logan is the man who fell in love with Jax when he was a teenager and nobody since has ever lived up to his first love. Jax was unaware of this long-standing love of Logan's, but when the younger man came to work at the ranch, the attraction was instant. The two men traveled a rough road to intimacy, as they both harbored secrets that they were too insecure to share with one another. One secret embarassing & the other shameful, both served to fuel trust issues and multiple missteps that became speed bumps on their road to happiness.
Recommended for a short, light and fun M/M read featuring two hot cowboys who can't get enough of each other.
I didn't care for this story at all. I didn't like Jax or Logan. Both were extremely immature and the plot was unrealistic and just plain exasperating. And it didn't flow very well. I found huge holes that made me go "Uh?"
There were a couple of spots where I was shaking my head, not believing what I was reading. Like when after Logan suffers a severe concussion and broken wrist after riding a bull. Immediately after being taken to the clinic, Logan wants to be released so he can take Jax dancing. Then they go home and have sex. Seriously? Sex?? Dancing?? I know this is fantasy but come on. Let's be a little realistic with the writing here. No one would want to go dancing and have sex a few hours after suffering a "severe concussion" and a broken wrist. The pain would be soooooo extreme it would be totally impossible.

Jax is a cowboy through and through. Logan is Jax's little brother's best friend. He has been in love with Jax since he was a teenager. Logan rides in on a motorcycle in the begin of the story. He came looking for a job with Jax on the ranch. Both of these characters have secrets that they don't want to share with the other person. This story is about how Logan and Jax come to love and trust each other. I really enjoyed how the author developed the men's relationship and story. Logan is, in my opinion, a little bit dominate, which I loved. There are many wonderful moments in this book. The sex scenes are hot, steamy and scrumptious. Let me just say the last chapter was my favorite!!! Whoa!
