My oldest son could not care less about reading fiction. He has other things he'd rather be doing. Like playing Minecraft. I told him I'd read whatever books he plans to read so we can talk about them. The first book on that promise is The Endermen Invasion.

My kid is going to love this book. The characters are straight out of Minecraft living in the world of Minecraft. It's weird to me, but he's going to dig the heck out of it.

Here's the rub for me. I AM SUCH A MOM. These Minecraft characters go off to Mushroom Island to have a building contest. One of the kids is jealous that he wasn't selected to be in the contest so he rigs it to send Endermen, Ender Dragons, and other Minecraft things I'm probably saying wrong. The kids in the contest figure out this one jealous kid is responsible for wreaking havoc, and the kid winds up helping to undo the mess he has made and stop the Endermen, etc. from destroying what the kids are building. This is the last we hear of the jealous kid:

"What about me?" asked Joshua.

"You're not invited," Caleb told him. "I think it's for the best if we just part ways."

"But you're one of my best friends," said Joshua.

"You aren't a friend," Caleb said as he, Steve, and Henry walked toward the boat and made their way back to Mushroom Island.

"You don't know what true friends are. I feel bad for you," Henry remarked to Joshua as he walked away.

Bunch of little punks. They don't know what true friends are either. Now I'm going to have to have a mom type conversation with my kid. Thanks, Minecraft book.

The epic Adventure continues! Steve is invited to a grand building competition. His friends, Kyra, Lucy, Max, and Henry join him as they adventure to the mushroom island where the building competition will be held. The group know that it would be peaceful because there iisn't any mobs on mushroom island, and they shouldn't spawn there. The group head out, and arrive, and excited for a happy time. The group is met up with the other contestonts, and the judges. Then the compitition starts, and steve, and the other contestonts are off to build, and win. Suddenly, endermen, a dangerous mob, start ed spawning everywhere on the island. The contestonts, judges, and Steve, and his friends are all confused. The entire group work together to take down the Endermen as other dangerous mobs start appear. The group is left with no answers untill they figured out that a griefer was messing with them, the other contestonts had suspected it to be Steve. Steve had to prove his innocence. Eventuall, the group figured out one of the contestonts named Joshua was working with a griefer. They whent after him, and his partner nearly dying, but emerged victorious. They stopped the griefers, and continued with the building competition. Finally, the judges judged, and the winner was another contestont named Sarah. Steve wasn't mad, but he was happy for Sarah. Eventually, Henry, Max, Lucy, and Kyra told Steve they were going on a treasure hunt because they miss it. Steve said bye, and left as the group spread into different directions. Steve was happy, and exauhsted, but he was glad to be going home.

Three books into the series, and there are still minor, distracting editing errors, e.g., page 43 refers to "Ender Peals" instead of "Ender Pearls".

This book takes Steve into new biomes, and I liked the premise of Steve competing in an invitation-only building contest. I even found the series of battles rather exciting! Unfortunately, any fresh new ideas that would have led me to a higher star rating were cancelled out by the blatant recycling of the main conflict in the second book. Specifically, a griefer is causing a lot of trouble, and everyone is blaming Steve. His friends defend him, but he needs to figure out who the real griefer is in order to clear his name.

Overall, a fitting continuation of the series. The take-away lesson in this installment seems to be, "It's too bad if things don't work out for you, especially if they do work out for your friend, but try not to begrudge your friends their successes, and instead, try to be happy for them."

This story is about a Minecraft person named Steve and his friends are going to the mushroom island for a building competition, but when they get there they are met by endermen the enderdragon and the wither. I also liked the book that I would also give the book a five star rating. I would recommend this book to a person who likes minecraft books

I really liked the book, it started out with the main character Steve entering a building competition with his friend Max. They go through many places on there way to the competition some include the jungle, the mooshroom island, and mines. Then the invasion happens. I would suggest this book to anyone who likes adventure stories.

Did I die a little inside when my 6 year old insisted on reading this instead of Beverly Cleary, Nate the Great, or Junie B Jones? Yeah. Was it also… totally fine? Yeah, pretty much. Passable fanfic with some minor grammatical errors, typos, etc. I was worried this was a little violent but then it’s explained that if a character “dies” they just respawn at their house, like a real video game, so that was fine.

I would rather be reading aloud anything else but at least giving Joshua (who you know immediately is the bad guy if you’ve ever read literally any other book or watched any tv show) the dweebiest voice I could saved this a little. The values the book promotes - friendship, teamwork, being a good sport if you lose - are good.

This is a children's story for those children who like paying the videogame Minecraft. It is silly and not very logical, but it's for kids. They are not looking for logic.

In any case Steve and his friends are heading out to participate in a contest to see who can build the best house. Of course, along the way, bad things happen. Steve is blamed (again) but in the end everything is resolved. The guilty party admits his faults and is forgiven. All is well.

I wouldn't mind listening again to this audiobook in the car with kids.

The Endermen Invasion is a fun and action-packed book, but it lacks some depth and complexity. The story is exciting and interesting, but the characters could have been explored more deeply and made more memorable. It's a book that's mainly aimed at younger readers who love video games, like Minecraft. The ending also feels a bit rushed and not as satisfying as it could have been. Despite this, it's a fun and lighthearted read that will keep young fans of the game hooked.

I read this to my boys for their bedtime story. The really enjoyed the quest for the diamond sword and we're really excited to read this one. They liked it but said it wasn't as good as the other one because there wasn't any adventure. In this story Steve and his friends stayed in one place. They still enjoyed it tho and would like to get another one of the Minecraft books.

I like that these books exist for the sake of the kids who love Minecraft. They're honestly really dull to suffer through as an adult but like it's good for what it is (at least it doesn't appear to be written by a bot like lots of unofficial Minecraft books on Amazon.)

I liked that it's about Endermen and there was a building competition on mushroom island, so there were no mobs. The best creation wins and an Ender Dragon randomly spawned.

Still better than the first and not as boring but not worth it to continue because I have to force myself to read these. I might be too old to enjoy these tbh lol

THIS WAS PAINFUL!!! Read to my daughter as part if a bookclub for kids that we belong to. There was nothing in the storyline or the writing for adults to enjoy. she did enjoy some of the parts of the game that were incorporated into the storyline but she even thought it was very basic and predictable.

This book is super interesting and, it makes me want to read the other books. This book reminded me of myself because, when Steve splashed water on the Enderman reminds me of when I splashed water on by little brother during the summer.
