Bliss is abused and left to die in the woods. Kellen is a lone wolf, trying to exorcise demons of the past. He finds Bliss, and uses his bite to save her. But he also knows she's his mate, and he has to convince Bliss to stay, and finally rebuild the pack as his legacy demands.
So, even though the book has some dark themes, there's something funny about an alpha who doesn't want to be an alpha, mated to a woman with no desire to be a mate. Their push/ pull was entertaining to read. The way Bliss couldn't control her wolf's reactions was amusing as well. The pack legacy and Maverick's reign of terror was a good plot vehicle, although the lore got muddled in places. It was good to see Kellen rise from the pain of his past, and Bliss become someone strong, who was willing to defend herself and others. I like their journeys. I wasn't always sold on their chemistry but it balanced out. There was a slight issue with pacing I thought--some of the story felt rushed while other parts seemed to drag. Also I would have liked to see their chemistry be the motivation for their first sexy encounter, rather than Bliss' uncontrollable urges. I would have liked to see her choose him in that way. I did enjoy the secondary cast in this. It was pretty good. I'm not compelled to continue the series right away though--maybe later.

Disappointing
I read this book all the way to 84% and I just can't continue. Talk abt a set of the most irritatingest characters I have ever read about. I decided to go ahead and read this book because after reading books by Niecy p and annittia Jackson, I was hooked on paranormal novels afterwards. I see this book in the kindle store all the time and for a long time. After reading the reviews and seeing the negative ones I decided not to read it. But after seeing it so much I decided I would give it a chance. When I say I'm gone start sticking to my first mind from now on I mean it. This book was soooo dry and boring, like literally NOTHING happened after the first part. The main female character was getting on my last nerve like how many times they gone have to explain to u how your new life works before u get it. What's so funny to me is that in regular stories the females go from man to man with no problems. They break up with one and go right into another within the same damn week. Now u have a story where u are meant to be with someone and u fighting it. And that's basically what this whole first installment was abt. It was soooo repetitive, and for no reason, they didnt have the same loyalty as I'm used to reading abt when it comes to shifters. Then the errors made it even worse, and I'm on 84% of the book and they just now had sex, and he still didnt mark her. Like wtf, so I wont even try to read the next installment.

Definitely entertaining and I plan to continue the series.. I didn't like the character development for Bliss. I kept hoping she would gain that freedom and sense of self that she fought so hard for in the beginning of the book.

good paranormal
I liked the paranormal details of this book. Typically, an omega wolf means they’re the least dominant of the pack. They soothe and create balance in the pack. On this book, omega means lone wolf. I liked that you couldn’t have pups until the alpha does. It essentially creates a new pack every generation. I’m also not used to a wolf pack being so small. Definitely liking the alpha wolf that Bliss becomes.
There were a few inconsistencies. The book said the only reason Bliss could initially mind speak with Kellan was because they were mates but then mind spoke with kyra. If finding your mate then becomes almost unbearable to be around each other unless you’re mating, how are Rita and Jayce moving along like it’s nothing. Is it because they haven’t been bit? I also wondered about the enforcers and betas parents. If they essentially create a new pack in every generation shouldn’t their parents be around in those positions not their kids?

I was so happy when she finally stop torching them both and mate him. I know they is gonna really kill maverick once the find jayson mate Rita. I know he feels helpless because of the wolf stuff they got shot with. Why can't maverick find his own mate? Instead of raping every she wolf. I feel like bliss is gonna really kill him for her she wolf since she the alpa female. But I know her alpa male gonna do some serious damage that's why maverick scared of both them because they to strong. I need part 2 Asap. This book so good man. I really feel bliss is pregnant to. Why do the other mates turn each other down.

Grammar errors galore!
I often read reviews that trash the author because of her grammar errors and I feel bad for the author because it's hard to catch every mistake. But this is the worst I've ever seen! The story is suspenseful. It ends with a cliffhanger on the back story but the main characters have a hea. The dialog is a little juvenile and awkward in some places but it does not detract from the story like the grammar does. The beginning should come with a trigger warning! And some parts are just Gross, like when he checks for her period!!! I almost did but the story diff hook me and I finished very sucky which is why I gave it 2stars.

Enjoyable
The beginning was triggering for me, so I skipped through some of the abuse. It got better after that. I enjoyed the explanation of how their pack worked. The love scenes were definitely great and the friendship between the characters is heartwarming. I rooted for all of them to win.
Some of the errors took away from the story in places. Although the author resolves Bliss's issue, mostly, I did not like the to be continued. The 17 year old that comes of age and her mate is 27 was a little eyebrow raising for me especially with the nature of the story, but the men of the pack are responsible and respectful.

AMAZING READ!!!... NEW READER
Okay I love this book and series. This is the first time I'm reading this author's books and I can say she is on it! I love reading me a good paranormal book or series! I like that she took her time telling the story and her character development was great. I can tell she did not rush through this book because there are not a lot of grammatical errors to the point I had to figure out what she was saying like I was writing the book. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series. When I finish this series if I'm still reading your books LoL... Pt 2 please!!
This book was soooo good, especially if you love paranormal. Bliss was literally thrown out like trash from a bad situation only to be picked up and taken to an unexpected one. Kellan was fighting an internal battle and had no plans of being an Alpha until pretty much being thrown into the role. He was the perfect man for Bliss and very patient with her understanding her situation. This book had me hooked from the beginning. It made me wish I was bitten by a wolf like Kellan. The ending was crazy, and Maverick must be stopped. I can’t wait for pt 2!

Excellent
I loved this book and was immediately drawn in to the whole paranormal idea of the characters being wolves. Very well written and the character development was amazing. From the very beginning I didnt like Maverick, he was weak and liked to boss those smaller than him around. I loved the connection that Bliss and Kellen developed and I'm rooting for them to have some pups. Will Rita ever be found and if so, I hope her and Jayce finally stop fighting their feelings for each other and just mate. Cant wait for part 2.

Just Plain Good!
Whenever I chose a story about wolf shifters I know it's going to be good and this was no exception.This was not only a well thought out story but it has been well-written.The writer pulls you into a story that feels so real that for a moment you think can this really be happening.I love the chemistry between all the characters,it just flows naturally and the humor comes just at the right moment.I don't want to get into the sexual chemistry because it just burns 🔥 the pages it is hot and sexy.This is just a really good story and one you will enjoy reading.

A good start
I liked this book but Bliss wasn’t a very likable character. Someone so adamanat about being on their own and not listening doesn’t make sure a good read. I get the trauma part but I feel like all of the resistance wasn’t necessary. I also didn’t understand how all of her hatred was towards Maverick, but not her dad who disgarded her and allowed her to be killed by some random man. But you’re mad at the other man who you’ve known all of 10 minutes? That part was weird but whatever. Overall, a good story.

Good story
I enjoy this very emotional story of Bliss and Kellen finding love. Bliss journey of overcoming an abusive boyfriend and Kellen trying to overcome the guilt of not saving his parents from a vicious man who takes over the pack. My dislike of this book is that this couple meets early in the book but Bliss remains in denial of there bond most of the book. I know this book is the prelude to a 4 book series but I wish they could have had more loving. I will read the next book because I love the story line. I hope the next one will have more of two people in love.

I love this book. I love that you used black characters in this paranormal romance. That's rare! I love how you finished this story but still left a cliffhanger. I usually don't like cliffhangers but yours was gracefully done. I'm so excited for jayce to find rita. I can tell this is going to be an off the chain series. Maverick oh I can't wait till they get him. With his evil self! Awesome job Ms. Jade.

Amazing
This the first time reading from this Author and I must say that I fully enjoyed this fighting paranormal!!! The story flowed so smoothly and kept me intrigued....I hope that they get Rita back and slather Maverick he is beyond evil!!! And he wondered why he couldn't reproduce offspring this the constant disrespectful raping of females No Alpha should be soooo full of himself and care less for those he is supposed to protect!!!! I will be waiting on part 2!!!

Meh
This storyline wasn’t catching my attention. Nothing really happened until the very end and it basically dragged throughout the book. It seemed like the whole book I was waiting until Bliss went into heat. The errors were throughout the book and it felt like a filler book for the next book than anything and the overusing of the word mewling was too much. I like Jayce and Gemma characters tho

Good Read
This is my first read by Jade Royal. I don’t read too many paranormal books as I usually don’t like the storyline. But I enjoyed this story a lot. There was good character development. I did want to note that there were a few errors. & Bliss selfishness was a tad bit annoying and made me want to skip a few pages sometimes. I’m ready to move on to the next book. Hopefully I get to see more of Gemma this next book! I already know I’m going to love her!

This was my first time reading from this genre
This was a good read. Didn't think I was going to be able to get through it because I don't read paranormal. But I'm invested in finding out with a story's going to go. Maverick is a monster along with his flunkies. Kellen is definitely an alpha male, I hope him and Bliss can have babies together. Let's see if they can get Rita moving on the part 2.

Great start to a paranormal series!
I follow Jade Royal on FB and came across her new release, Suckulence. After reading that book, I was hooked on her. I love paranormal romance and I love it even more that it’s written by a black author (you don’t see too many black authors in their genre).
Kellan and Bliss were perfect! Their story was enticing and a true page turner. Looking forward to more of the Phoenix Pack.

Well this was good 🙂. Kellen and Bliss’ story is filled with sitting on the edge of your seat drama, and just yaaay 🙌🏾🙌🏾💃🏾. The two of them fighting for dominance was sexy as all get out 🙂.
The back and forth is the perfect compliment to the story and the intrigue and threats to themselves and their fellow pack mates. And this book sets up the rest of the series nicely for other stories to be told, it is very well done 🙂.
I think you will thoroughly enjoy this book.

I love Paranormal Romance but...
I love Paranormal Romance but I especially love black paranormal romance. It's something special about how this story come together and I can't wait to read the rest. My favorite two female characters are Bliss and Gemma. Bliss is strong, fierce and determined. Gemma has a nonsense attitude to her, she may be young but she's nobody's fool. I love it.

First time reading from this author
I usually stick to the writers I know, in the past trying new books from some writers was a let down. But with the Covid epidemic I'm bored being quarantined in the house so I gave it another go. I'm pleased to say I found another writer to add to my favorite's list. I read it now you read it and come up with your own review cause I can't help.

omega to alpha
This was a good read Bliss was going thru it with Maverick he was ruthless her her day was a prick to allow him to do what he did, Kellan was an omega to was destined to be a alpha but because of what he witnessed he decided to live in seclusion until Bliss….this was an awesome read the secondary characters were well written without their stories being lost within the main plot that it makes you want book 2 job well done
This was a good read Bliss was going thru it with Maverick he was ruthless her her day was a prick to allow him to do what he did, Kellan was an omega to was destined to be a alpha but because of what he witnessed he decided to live in seclusion until Bliss….this was an awesome read the secondary characters were well written without their stories being lost within the main plot that it makes you want book 2 job well done

This was sooo good. I really liked Bliss as a character and watching her journey. I loved reading about Kellen’s past and him finding the strength to become an Alpha. I also liked all of the side characters and I can’t wait to read there books and learn more about them. Bliss and Kellen are such a cute couple and I loved their banter.

Kellan is bae
I loved this paranormal series and all the characters, Maverick has to go, Rita needs to be okay and not go into heat before Jayce gets to her! What’s up with Tristan rejecting Gemma?? Will Kyra and Jaxson find the mates?? Kellan is a true alpha and I love how strong Bliss is now and hopefully they will get to Maverick soon. Please don’t wait too long for part 2!

I always loved a. Good Parnomal !!!
Even though This is My first read by Jade Royal I loved everything about this book. I just wish it didn't take Rita And Jayce So long to understand they love for One another.
And I want Tristan to stop playing.

First Paranormal.... Entertaining read. Loved the pace of story and the characters. The editing took away from the story, but looking forward to part 2. Loved Kellans role and protection of the women, even if its not his first choice. The growing pack is going to have to be reckoned with. Maverick is out of control and no words for Bliss dad, sold her soul for power>>>>
