The Ties That Bind is book 4 in the Ariel Kimber Series. Ariel Kimber isn't like most seventeen year old girls. She's different because she's a witch with magic and it's rare for females to hold magic anymore. She's settling into her new place amongst her coven of guys while she's settling into her new home at the same time. The Council's appearance into their lives has put everyone on edge. With good reason. Ariel is forced to meet with one of them on a regular basis so that they can learn from each other. Really, though, they just want to get to the bottom of where Ariel came from and she is more than happy to comply with them. Because there is one thing she wants more than anything else in the world, and that's to find the man who has been searching for her for years. Her biological father. And Ariel is willing to go through any and every thing to find him.
This is the fourth book in a slow burn Reverse Harem Series.
I keep reading this series... not sure why honestly. The writing isn’t that fantastic and there are quite a few discrepancies that just make my brain itch as I read. I think I picked this one up because I saw it would be a quick read and why not, you know? If the series was KU I would probably continue picking them up just to see how everything turn out... but they’re not, and they’re short... really short... combined with the fact that the author seems to love to rehash and explain anything from the previous books that is mentioned so I’d say 1/3 of the book is all back log and internal monologues about what’s happened. So I think I’m don’t with this series it’s just not worth only 100 pages of actual dialogue and forward momentum.
DNF 👎 1 disappointing star. Each subsequent book in this series has continued to rate lower than the previous thus far. I find myself swimming through pages filled with the minutiae that is the MC personal style & inner dialogue. The book lacks forward momentum & their is no romance to speak of. The girl is 9 months away from her 18th birthday has 7 boyfriends is living with 1 of them & we can’t get passed kissing?! FFS she’s uncomfortable with PDA. In fact she seems to have no interest in any of them apart from a close & dear friendship at best. After Tyson’s behavior in this book I’ve completely lost interest in this “RH”.
First, this is way beyond a slow burn series, it's glacial. Second, the style is not magnificent. It glosses over important things. Explores the minutiae in endless detail and repeats large chunks of text. Third, all of the above could be overlooked if it wasn't for the shittiest ending ever. It's like the writer had run out of steam and just decided to stop and say they all lived happily ever after. There are enough questions left that there could have been another book. As it stands, I'm now angry that I bought any of them.
I have really been enjoying the Ariel Kimber Series until this book :-/ Unfortunately, this one just fell flat for me. Usually, I can really relate to Ariel's thoughts, feelings and actions, but during this book we just went in opposite directions. Where she was quiet, understanding and very forgiving, I was angry, unforgiving and quite frankly, a bit homicidal.
This book was about Tyson, and I really struggled with liking him throughout the whole book and I couldn't understand Ariel at all because apparently, she did. She went and did one thing that she in her mind argued was the right thing to do and I was in complete disagreement.
I did like Rain Kimber though. It was perfect that she got to meet him. Finally.
I will continue reading this series because I really do like the characters.
I'm sorry, my English is bad. I read the book again and I found out that the author had apparently edited it. I have a few reservations anyway. 1. I'm still not sure why she likes Quinton the most. I wish their relationship was more elaborate. Of course, he's a very interesting bad guy with a piercing on his willie. I get it. And what else? I want to read - for example - that they are attracted because he is the most powerful of the coven... and how it works, etc. 2. I don't completely criticize weird mood bursts, because that's normal in anime genres. From the way the characters behave, I'd say wizards are emotionally unstable. I would use it in a book and explain it. It would certainly be an interesting part of a book about how magic affects emotions and that emotions can be used while using magic. The author always tends to describe something she doesn't have to describe. (Arial is constantly mad at Tyson for some bullshit. Tyson's current status - we're friends now - we're not friends now, because you pissed me off again. I really don't care how he's doing on Ariel's scale anymore.) 3. This book could sometimes be compared to twilight, but the main character, unlike twilight, was interesting. Now I don't like Ariel more and more. How can anyone claim something quite intelligent and in a moment kill it completely. It is a really special talent. We already know that Ariel is an asshole, she has prove it countless times. Please, Ariel, don't prove it again. 4. The author must also be careful when rewriting something. Because in previous books, we read that Arieal doesn't like jewelry and doesn't need it. And a moment later she declares that there is never enough jewelry. But maybe this is just another proof that Ariel is an asshole. Who knows... 5. What bothers me the most is that it's very difficult to read. There are insanely long descriptions (of irrelevant things). Insanely long internal monologues. It's an incredibly disruptive element for me.
(The Old Review I am very sad and disappointed. LOTS OF NOTHING. And if something interesting happens, it takes much less time than Ariel's silly monologues. Rain is a copy of Quinton. (YES! I find it kinky!) Honestly, I do not know why Ariel likes Quinton the most when she does not even live with him. She is physically attracted to him, but in the book, it is as if there is a lot more between them. In the past, something was between her and Tyson, but now they are BFF?! Tyson behaved strangely, but it is still understandable. Ariel was horrible, and there are still the passages how amazing she is. I guess I'll start to counting them. The other men I no longer differentiate because they behave similarly. Except for twins, but they almost did not appear in this book.
I'd rather read 20 pages about searching Rain, rather than read 20 pages about Ariel's choice of outfit for the date. (Author's preferences are different.))
A lot of inner dialogue. A lot of detail that could have been eliminated.
We meet Ariel father, Rain. Annabelle makes an appearance, but I expected something bigger. Her appearance was a bit weak. There was so much build up when it came to Annabelle, but when we actually met her it was a let down.
Ariel's life has been complicated over the last few months. She finds out her abusive mother, who was killed by one of her boyfriends, wasn't actually her mother at all. She and another of her boyfriends were attacked and injured by a classmate. And oh yeah, she's a witch with magic and now has a coven with 7 males who will all ultimately be her men. Now the council is in town keeping a watch on her and she's trying to track down her bio-dad. Add in the return of a few people Ariel hoped to never see or hear about again and her life is stressful!
The Ties That Bind covers a short, intense period in Ariel and her coven's life. Ariel and Dash have recovered from Chucky's attack physically but the mental scars linger. Ariel is still a mess. She internalizes way too much and worries non-stop. The girl overthinks everything! At times I want to shake her and make her appreciate the moment. This proves exactly how well written she is, she's so fully developed, so true to herself, so vivid, so genuine. I know how she will respond and what she will think in most situations. This is a complete character. We don't know the guys as well but we are learning more each wonderful book. Ariel gets a date with Damien along with a touch of Julian that is just lovely. Damien's thoughtfulness went a long way to proving his worth. Her interactions with Dash are increasingly sweet and her time with Quinton continues to be fiery. I can't get enough of this man! The Salt and Pepper twins aren't around much but when they are, they steal the conversation. I was not a fan of Tyson in this book. Don't get me wrong, I love this guy but I didn't like any of his choices. I don't like secrets, I don't like when someone decides to risk everyone to 'handle' things themselves, and I particularly didn't like who he was interacting with. It all just felt wrong to me. Rain makes his first dream appearance and his first visit. Daddy of the Year Candidate? Probably not. Psychopath? Quite possibly. Loves his daughter? I believe so. The fact that he is a fan of Quinton should say it all! I have to say I am intrigued with Rain, I am worried for Ariel (I don't want him to hurt her), and I enjoy his time with Quinton. The secrets he revealed about Ariel's family were fantastic. I look forward to more.
This book completely captured my attention. I read through the night. The tension on the pages was palpable at times and I could not get myself to put the book down. Very enjoyable!
Well. I ended up skimming a bit at the end. I believe I forgot how much I didn't like the series until I sat down and read 1-4 in one sitting. The constant long detailed dialogue that repeats itself got annoying as crud. I especially disliked the whole, we read what Ariel thinks, then we read the same as she says it, then we read whoever interrupted the conversation asking what's going on, and it's explained again. That got old so quick.
Things that irked me in book 4 specifically: Tyson being extra prickish. For being her supposed BFF, they sure don't act like it. The constant interrupted conversations. The way how Ariel and Tyson agree to be partners, but they truly aren't, at all, because Tyson is a prick. Them, just them, all of it... I'm sick of it. They treat each other like siblings who go from being protective to being an asshole in the blink of any eye. Their arrogance in all things, all of them are arrogant. It's like they are all the same person in a different package. It's dumb. Where are the dynamics? Where are the different roles most men play in a RH? In these books, it just isn't working. Can't take 7 very similar guys and say "you are the sweet one, you the dick, you the teddy bear, you the healer... etc..." and then write them identical other than the label. It's not genuine to the character. How about the fact that without discussing it, and in the different POV, they all have the same thoughts? They want to work on their relationship before intimacy, I believe it was written using the exact same words even. Lame.
4 books in and I'm throwing in the towel. I would have continued, but for goodness sake, 4 books and there is barely anything romantic between anyone. All the "sizzle" is short lived and doesn't even have any heat. Falls so flat.
If you made it through book 3 you probably lowered your expectations for this series, which might be a good thing. This book and book 3 are full of fillers. By this is mean instead of saying she got dressed 3 pages is spent talking about her taking her shorts off, picking out clothes, putting her boots on, then putting her shorts in the hamper. So u think hey maybe what she's wearing will be important layer on? Nope not at all. Or how about a page spent talking about her dropping her flashlight and it rolling around on the ground? I thought oh maybe that broke it and she will need it to work later, yeah once again nope. There is so much useless stuff to just skim through. The first 50ish percent of this book can just be plain skipped. It would have been much better to combine books 3 and 4, take out 50+ pages of inner monolouging and useless descriptions of things (ugh pillows) and make 1 kick butt book. Also we are on book 4 now with just a few kisses so far? There is slow burn and then there is no burn, this falls into no burn for me, besides the psycho guys (which I kinda like) and the whole killing people these books are clean enough for a pretty teen. If there wasn't so much descriptive crud maybe the plot and relationship building would actually go somewhere and we would see more them a handful of kisses after 4 stinking books. I'm holding out hope for the next book, but at the same time not holding my breath.
So book 4 had some really great moments and some really frustrating ones haha. The author is really doing a number on us, not gonna lie haha. So in part 4 of this amazing world has us learning more about the Council and their evil and disgusting ways, meet a certain character that Ariel has been dying to meet (I am kinda on the fence about him so far, but the further I get in the series I bet I will like him more, more to follow), and we get another confrontation that leads to someone getting hurt.
In terms of the plot, I enjoyed this one. We got a lot of answers to questions, more insight on what was going on, etc. I wanted to rip Annabelle's and the diner's staff a new one, but karma will be just and swift I hope haha. I loved getting some happy memories from the new character regarding Ariel's family. I am intrigued how Ariel's family legacy will come into play. Also whaaaaaaat the cr@p was with the news about one of our favorite guys earlier in the series. I was shocked and I hope it's explained why he is treated the way he was (by the newbie character being introduced). OH and Binx is my fav (did I mention how much I love all the Halloween and Hocus Pocus references are in this series so far ❤️).
Gonna do a recap of the guys in this one because there were a lot of developments (good and bad). So overall I liked seeing Quinton's softer side and cannot wait for him and Ariel to come together. I don't like that he is hypocritical and keeping stuff from Ariel but some arent his fault so I will give him that. In terms of the twins, we don't get a lot with them this book because we get some of the other guys as spotlight characters. I loved getting to know Damien more. He isn't my favorite, but I definitely can see why he did stuff the way he did earlier in the series and he is adorable when it comes to Ariel and her needs and dates. That date was amazing and made me smile the whole time haha. I loved that we got to see more of Julian and his personality come out too. Dash is an awesome cuddler and I liked his protectiveness when it came to Ariel. Now my biggest issue with the guys is Tyson. I absolutely loved him in book 1 and 2 but he has gone downhill really fast for me and I sometimes want him out of the harem and that has never happened to me while reading. He really shows his age and immaturity in this book. I couldn't get over his rollercoaster emotions and how he would lie, treat Ariel so badly, and force her to keep secrets from everyone and like turn on her every chance he got. I honestly wouldn't be as forgiving as Ariel and it didnt keep to her character from earlier in the series when she kept forgiving him over and over again, tried to reason why he was doing things. It was mind games bordering on emotional abuse in my opinion. Treating her horribly, apologizing but never learning from his bad behavior and lashing out, trying to manipulate her into seeing his "reasons", so its borderline and one of the main reasons I am not a fan of him anymore. Hopefully he can redeem himself because I am about done with him.
Now for Ariel. I didnt like her as much in this one as I have in others. Like I enjoyed her walls coming down more and learning to see the guys as more than friends and starting the VERY SLOW BURN with some of them haha. I just was confused why all of a sudden she was super forgiving, had to keep convincing herself they were doing the right thing. Some things were so bad, she just let it go or forgot and didnt put up a fight. I just thought some interactions/developments were a little abrupt and not fully fleshed out, even to set the reveals/new info to come in later books.
Overall I would give the story 3.5 stars, the narration helped bring it up to a 4. I think Tyson and Ariel's shift are the main reasons I can't praise this from the rafters, like I felt with earlier books (esp book 2). The narration was fabulous and really brought these characters to life. I still think Melissa could improve her male characters and making them more distinct, sometimes when they were all in a room it was hard to tell who was talking (if the dialogue didnt mention who was talking for example).
Alrighty, gonna have to take a break on the audio because I need to read the novellas in the right order. I tried listening to book 5 on audio and I was pretty long. I do wish the novellas were on audio in like one big package, maaaaaaybe someday 😊
1st off I LOVE THIS SERIES. I really think of the book as a 3.5. But I want this series to grow and think in the other books great things will happen. I just dont want EVERY book to move along so slowly SPOILERS BELOW
I just wished for more in this book. More action, and more scenes that moved Ariel forward Basically in this book Tyson is dealing with Annabel but doesnt want the other brothers to know but only lets Ariel know. I didn't like how he acted with Ariel to be honest when he thought he told his stuff to the others( he was far to pushy and rough with her). Then her father came to town. I liked Rain and liked him more after getting a POV on him. He truely loves her and would have loved her without magic. We find out his family is reallly special. Ariel goes on a date with Damien which I loved even if it was just at his house. Tyson puts a spell on Anabel to make sure she forgets him or something and Chucky gets killed by accident by Tyson. We find out Anabel is being used to breed with other witches and even Ariel's dad she suggest she marry so she is not used as a broadmare for the counsil.
Finally I feel ( MAYBE its just me) But like book 3, this book had TOOOO MUCH inner dialogue. Like I get it, Its nice to know what the characters feel and thoughts, but I need dialogue. More scenes and less inner dialogue.
For the next book I would like more action, more higher stakes. I get its a slow-burn RH, and book in genral but events need to be speed up. Maybe Ariel meets another young coven of guys or she meets guys that are in her dad's coven. Maybe her dad has other children(sons) for another marriage. Maybe some crazy coven kidnaps Ariel or erases Ariel's memory so she hates the guys. maybe she goes to regular college. IDK. i just need more higher stakes. things are moving to slow. Again- its hard to write a book. I know.Especially you cant make every reader happy.
The Ties That Bind is the fourth book in the Ariel Kimber series and it's just as good as the other books, if not better. I think if you're going into this series you have to be aware that it's not a fast series. It is a read where the author is slowly building the whole story up. Each book takes place over only a few days and we learn a lot about not just the main character, Ariel, but the other characters too. I'm loving the pace of the story, I feel like I'm really getting to know everyone and everything and its like I'm really in Ariel's head and experiencing everything right alongside her.
The Ties That Bind moves the story along with some more development of just who Ariel is. There's a new character introduced whom I really liked, I can't wait to learn more about him in the next book. We also get to the end of one storyline in the series and another is potentially closed, although I think something might come back up again about it in the future. We get to learn more about Damien in this book as does Ariel. I love all seven of the guys, not one of them is boring or forgetful as they all have something about them that gives them life. The author has done a great job in building them and ensuring none of them fade into the background.
I really am enjoying and love this series, reading this book I felt like I was falling back into a conversation with an old friend. I love the character development and the world building. I feel like I could wax lyrical about this series forever but then this review would get boring as I'd be repeating myself. I'm going to end this by saying go out and grab yourself a copy, it's a great five star read and I loved it. I'm pretty sure you will too.
I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. Oh Nellie this was jammed pack. Ariel discovered her real father was out there. Between her and her boys having to deal with the Council and dealing with the past this was an unforgettable read. There is so much in this book I'm not sure my review will do it justice. The council is having Ariel do blood magic to find her father. This doesn’t make Quinton happy. Not only this but the council brought Chucky and Annabelle back into their lives and ugh that is all I’m going to say about that. Then we do get to meet Rain, Ariel’s father, to be honest I am not sure what to think of him. I loved to see Ariel and the guy’s relationship grow. Even though they all have trust issues after being hurt in their past we are learning more about each of them. I like how we are learning about the guys along with Ariel. Each of them has a different personality and Ariel reacts to them all differently. I have to say my heart is opening more toward Damien. Tyson made me sad when he asked Ariel to keep secrets from others. This book kept my attention and was hard to set down. I am intrigued to see what will happen next and to see Ariel and her coven learn more about each other and grow closer. A few of my favorites The girl has a serious mouth that she had no problem popping off whenever the mood struck her (and it stuck her often enough), but being mouthy and unafraid to speak your mind were a whole lot different. I don’t think you know how to just be. Be in the moment. Be happy. To just breathe and not have to be fighting for something or fighting off someone.
1/1/23- I still feel the same as I did in my review for the last book. Ariel's narration is still all over the place with monologues and too many unnecessarily detailed descriptions about her outfits when we really need more detail on the situation that their coven is in. A lot of important things get glossed over or are given very little attention.
Grammar and general vocabulary still suck. I cannot tell you the amount of times the author uses the word "passed" instead of "past". If it only came up once or twice, I would have just thought it was a slip-up, but the mistake is so consistent that it's hard to ignore, especially when I have to re-read the sentence to try to make sense of what I just read.
If the plot and the other characters weren't so intriguing, I would've given up on this series with the first book. They're also the only reason I've been giving each book so far the bare minimum rating of 2 stars for "just ok". Though I'm wishing there was a way to give 1/2 stars so that I can give the whole series 1.5 stars for "just barely tolerable".
I'm looking forward to Tyson's novella next since it'll give me a much-needed break from the huge clusterfuck that is Ariel's narration.
Added 1/2/23- ***Heads up that M/M is suddenly dropped into the storyline in Book #5. I don't have a problem with M/M, but I do have a problem with an author completely changing the course of a romance with no hint of potential M/M. It came completely out of left field and was handled so poorly that it broke through the already thin patience I had with this author that I stopped reading after that. Good luck getting through this mess. I'm only leaving my 2 stars for the interesting plot and for literally every other character but Ariel.
I read the first two books a while back and recently did a re-read to include books 3 and 4. I love the idea of these books, but not the actual reading of them. The writing often gets bogged down in mundane step-by-step descriptions (e.g. a full page dedicated to Ariel getting dressed to go look for the cat with descriptions of what, why, and how she puts on her clothing). I often found myself skipping over whole paragraphs just to get to the next step in the plot.
I'm also very confused by her relationship with several of the characters. They're hot then cold. The only way I can justify in my mind why she stays with this coven of explosive males is that she's used to abusive behavior...which is not healthy!
That being said, I love the concept of the book. With the introduction of Ariel's dad, the world-building is getting a bit better. Nonetheless, I'm waiting for Ms. Martel to lay some serious mythos on us about witches and how they fit in the world. I'd also like for some of the nitty gritty of magic to be gone over. I thought we would finally get to learn about tarot in this book, but it was glossed over with a single paragraph. Ariel was so excited to learn about that in previous books, and now that she finally gets the chance, we get a one-liner about her watching Dash with some customers??
I want to like these books (obviously, since I've stuck around through book 4), but I'm starting to feel diminishing returns.
This was a great installment! I loved every single second of it. The story keeps surprising me on every twist and turn and the books keep getting better and better! So much has happened here and I don't even know where to start. Rain! I was so worried that he will turn out to be a dick and will just hurt Ariel, so I'm really happy to have been wrong about him. His presence is definitely gonna shake things up a bit, but it also promises to make everything more interesting. The Council keeps getting uglier and uglier with every new piece of information we get about them and what they are doing with Annabell is just nasty. At least the bitch is finally out of the way. I mean, I hope she is! She better be. Her reappearance in the story was unfortunate, but the way she made Ty act just made me furious. Tyler simply annoyed me throughout this book and his behavior and the position he put Ariel in made me even madder at him than I originally was. I hope he manages to redeem himself in the future books. The other guys were all amazing and I love to read about their slow but steady progress with Ariel. And I really like the fact that the story is not gearing up to an end yet and I get to enjoy it for a lot longer. All in all, this was an amazing book.
Such a great continuation to Ariel and her covens story. I love reading about her development as a young woman. This book definitely showed her working out how to be in her own skin and own it. Not only that but I loved that her inner monologue is so REAL. I can relate to her so much because I feel like she can own up to when she knows she’s acting wack or crazy or possessive or just flat out like an emotional girl! These kind of characters speak to me because that’s how it is in real life. I know I’m over reacting but will I say something about it? Probably not always. That’s reality and I love Ariel for portraying that. I also love love LOVED that she got some time with Damien in this book. He’s one of my secret favorites and he deserved some Ariel time. I also really enjoyed the introduction of Rain Kimber, Ariel’s father. I thought that was well written and placed into the storyline flawlessly. He’s a new and exciting character to read about. Overall, Mary Martel killed it again with The Ties That Bind. One of my favorite series, can’t wait for the next book.
This is definitely my favorite book so far in this series!!!! So many things happen- from finally getting introduced to her father, to Tyson getting semi-manipulated by Annabell again, to seeing a whole different side to Damien in their first date, to Dash being protective of Ariel, to Quinton being as bossy and sexy as ever, and to learning about the council’s evil ways. It was all good. But my favorite part of this book would have to have been the immense character growth in Ariel. She’s showing more of who she really is and what she is made of. It’s so awesome to see her grow and for her to really accept who she is and what type of relationship she is in. You finally get a good feeling of all of them being together and caring for her. I love her new attitude, but her sweetness is the best. I only wish I saw more of the Salt and Pepper Twins and Jules, but I’m not worried because I know I’ll see so much more of all of them! The ending was amazing, and now I really can’t wait for the next book in this series to come out!! I’ll be anxiously awaiting for more! I absolutely love this series!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I’m not too sure how I feel about this book. I feel like the series has hit a drag. There wasn’t a big finale, I don’t know what’s going to happen in the second book. We haven’t had to many ‘magic’ things happening lately. Which I don’t like because it’s one of the reasons I read and continue to read this series. The characters are okay. I used to really like them but now it’s stale. I found myself zoning out a lot.
There are a lot of sections of repeated phrases and grammar still hasn’t improved that much.
One of the repeated phrases was, “he could break her. She would be absolutely devastated” - something like that. It got to the point where I was a tad bit annoyed because it seemed like she would now become a needy character, I don’t care for needy characters.
I feel like there isn’t a nice balance between the men in this book. And the relationships between the characters are very childish, but they are mostly teenagers.
I will continue to read this series because I want to see where this goes. I’m going to give it another chance.
While I didn’t hate this book – I didn’t love it either.
Hate part – there is still way too much inner dialogue from Ariel and page after page of descriptions. It took literally an entire chapter for Ariel to get ready for a date with Damien. Really? Could have done that within a couple of paragraphs.
Like part – I am finally starting to feel the heat between Ariel and a few of the seven. Enjoying the light touches, kissing, hand holding and lips tingling! For a RH this is moving at a snail’s pace – I get that she is a virgin but heck almost every 17-year-old has gone around a few of the “bases” by now! Things are happening all around Ariel and the coven of brothers. Annabelle makes a return to the area ,the Council of Elders are up into their business, Chucky is back, Rain finally appears and dates with the fellas! I did skim the pages trying to get past all the inner dialogue – just wanted to get to the good parts of the story.
Will continue on with this series as I would like to see how it all unfolds.
The Ties That Bind was an excellent read! Ariel is growing more and more confident, but you can tell she is still a 17 year old coming out of her shell. While she is speaking up for herself and what she wants more, she still keeps a lot to herself out of what I think is fear of being rejected.
We get more time with Damien and I loved it. Each book we get to know more about a different guy and I was happy it was his turn. Tyson however slipped further down my list to very last. I did not like him very much in this book, but I'm sure that was the point.
And...I loved Rain Kimber! Can't wait to get more time with him and to see what all he teaches Ariel.
All in all, Ms. Martel did an excellent job continuing the story of Ariel Kimber. Plenty of character growth and bonding time. Come on book 5!!!
I am completely hooked on these books. I love Ariel and the guys, the world of magic and that the author writes a little darkness into, which makes the entire world of the series addicting. This book is a little slower than the past three but in a good way. Ariel has been through so much already and she is still trying to figure out who and what she is, especially since most of her life has appeared to be a lie. In "The Ties That Bind" we get to watch her explore her magic and her relationship with the guys, and we finally learn more about the mysterious council. My favorite is the addition of her father, which we knew was coming but adds an entirely new dynamic to the series. Ariel is really coming into her own in this book and I love it. I love seeing her grow and become more confident, not to mention the guys. YUM!
Ariel is back with her guys, and they are on the hunt to find her father after finding a box in the back of who she found out was not her mothers closet. Now she has to deal with the counsel being near and trying to teach Ariel how to use blood magic. And with Chucky being told he could be Ariel’s new servant which is the last thing she wanted. Ariel’s father Rain found her and now wanted to be in her life, and now she was getting closer to the other guys that she hadn’t been close to. So with new relationships forming and her father in her life she couldn’t image anything bad happening well little did she know something or someone was going to be coming into her life from her guys past and try to sink her claws into one of her guys. This was once again an amazing book I just love it so much and this was my very first audio books to listen too.
I love Ariel, she has always been such a relatable character to me and I enjoy watching her story unfold. I also really like the way that the author works each member of the harem back into the story. When all the characters are in play all the time I think that it takes away from being able to get to know each one on their own. In The Ties That Bind we see Ariel growing into herself, she is becoming more confident in herself and her magic. Each book has a different guy that is more of a feature, this time we got a little more of Damien. We also got to meet the mysterious Rain and I absolutely need to know more about him! I loved this book and can’t wait to see what the next one has in store!
So good, the storyline is progressing nicely and I really enjoyed the two new additional characters. Damien's love hate relationship with scary movies and sleepy movie time stole my heart. All of the guys were great, this book focused more on Uncle Panty thief, a new character, and Tyson...with Dash and Damien in the mix. While Jules and the Salt and Pepper twins were in the book they weren't super active this go around. I missed my twins but it still didnt detract from the story and set it up really well for books going forward. 5/5 for good reading and excitement! Well done!
This is the latest in the Ariel saga that wraps you up. Since she is going in one direction then things will come her way. The guys are by her side also in this quest that will come along. When the council comes along you too will be on edge. At times though I do want to shake her up but she is young after all trying to find "herself". The guys will have a place themselves that show themselves more to us. Whom is uncovered captures you for sure with it also paving the way for a reveal that will rock you back on your heals. This author has taken us yet again into Ariel's world assimilating us causing it to be hard for us to leave when it is time.
I have this cool follower Goodreads friend, Elise. And she recommended that I add these books to my dnf list. Because seriously, it's beginning to get more and more annoying. I'm on book 4.5 and still nothing. Yes there's a bit of magic big deal. It's an RH book that showed up on my kink site. It should not have been on that website. There is nothing even remotely flirty about this book. The moment they start to flirt it's all like cold showered like crazy. So I think I'm going to take her recommendation and put the rest of the series on my NF list. I'm sorry to the author because I'm sure she worked really hard on this but it's just not my cup of tea.
This is a series. And it’s entirely frustrating that the author keeps repeating things from the previous books again like somebody would be reading this book before the other books. And maybe she’s doing it to remind everybody what happened. But it’s crazy that much time/space in this book was use to explain things that happened in different previous books. I want to read about new things! I don’t want to keep reading about what happened in book one or two. FMC is portrayed as dense and slow. What do to mean seems like her favorite question throughout the book.
Ever since i picked up the first book in the Ariel Kimber series i have been hooked. You get pulled in with the characters and are at the edge of your seat to see what happens next. This is the kind of book that makes you stay up all night to read even if you have work the next morning. That's me right now and I don't regret it. Please if you want a great series that you'll fall in love with pick this series up today! Now I will be patiently waiting for the next book!! 😁😁
