If you ever need a book to teach about the seasons or patterns in a day/month/year, this series is perfect! It is one of the most kid friendly book when teaching about the seasons because it does such a great job making connections to young readers. The book is clearly organized by a main heading and then it connects the information being learned to something in a young reader's life.

Most books about seasons either are very general or focus on one topic. What makes this a standout is the broad coverage of facts about the summer season. Clear bright photographs from many angles and views show vacation destinations, foods, insect and other animal behaviors, clothing, cooling, plants, and activities.
Creative presentations of facts include “What does summer sound like?” with the crack of a bat when hitting a baseball instead of just saying baseball is a summer sport. There is also variety in the layout of each two-page spread. Some pages simply label the items in a particular category while other pages provide a paragraph of detailed information, such as explaining why a sunflower follows the sun across the sky. A table of contents would be helpful.
This reviewer will be ordering the companion books, Awesome Autumn (2015), Wonderful Winter (2016), and Spectacular Spring (2018) for her school library collection.

Bright full-page photographs fill the pages of this book while readers learn all about summer. The use of headings for the various pages helps readers stay organized as the text covers the season's heat, clothing, cooling off, favorite pursuits, foods and even how summer sounds or feels. There are even a couple of pages devoted to the less savory side of summer--mosquitoes, bees, and wasps. There are even some activities and crafts that are perfect for summertime. I enjoyed the previous three titles in this series, and am sure others will as well. Author Bruce Goldstone captures the essence of summer and why it has so much appeal. After all, who doesn't love a more leisurely pace and a chance to spend your free time any way you wish?

Today marks the passage of one full week of summer. Even while celebrating the longest day of the year, the additional sunlight, warmth, abundance of wildlife and vacation adventures, our days are starting to get shorter. We've lost nearly a full minute of daylight in these seven days.

With the time lessening each day, there is only one thing to do. We need to make the most of this season. Super Summer: All Kinds Of Summer Facts And Fun (Henry Holt And Company, May 7, 2019) written by Bruce Goldstone with some of his photographic images, too, is a guide to enjoying every marvelous moment.

What a great book. It was full of information about summer. From what to wear, activities, sounds,
information about animals and how they spend their summer. Full of scientific information.
Students could make a book of their ideas of what summer means to them. You will be wanting to use the book as a spin off to the next season.

Hello, friends! Our book today is Super Summer: All Kinds of Summer Facts And Fun by Bruce Goldstone, a spirited look at all the things that fill our summer months.

Fourth in Goldstone’s seasonal nonfiction series, young readers are given a colorful primer in many subjects that relate to the summer months (focusing on the northern hemisphere, primarily the United States). The topics are wide-ranging – from weather and sun protection, to various animals’ cooling systems, to sunflowers’ heliotropic adaptation, to a list of fun places one might go on summer vacation. Each page is filled to bright, colorful photographs to illustrate the topics, and a list of summery crafts and recipes, along with instructions, is included in the backmatter.

Awesome! This was a really cool compendium of summer facts, perfect for curious bookworms who enjoy learning about their world. The subjects and the manner in which they are covered strike a good balance between challenging yet easy to follow; concepts such a plant’s life cycle varying depending on its environment, or summer clothing being lighter in color to reflect light and heat, are explained in a way that educates without patronizing young readers. The eye-popping colors are pitch perfect, making spreads featuring summer fruits and veggies, flowers, and fireworks a delight, and feature a diverse range of human subjects enjoying summer activities. The length was fine for slightly older bookworms like JJ, and certain subjects can be skimmed for younger ones, who will love the bright photography. If your little one is a fan of nonfiction books, this is one to check out! Baby Bookworm approved!
