This young adult epic fantasy combines action, heart, revelations, and surprises as you follow the collective journeys of loveable characters through action-packed twists.
It's crazy to think that this is Clark's debut novel! The maturity of the writing is incredible and the story is layered and mind-blowing. The characters are complex and thoroughly fleshed out. I absolutely love it when an author makes a plot impossible to predict, and this book more than takes care of that problem.
I don't think you have to be a big fantasy fan to love this story. It's one of those well-written tales that is an instant classic and has sealed Clark's place as a top notch author. This girl is going places and you don't want to miss out.
I really really wanted to love this book. But there was just something missing and I can't even quite put my finger on it. The story wasn't bad, but it just didn't grab me and suck me in. The greatest stories pull you in and you are helpless to resist. I started another story immediately after I finished this one and all it took was the four page preface, I was totally hooked, like I just never was with this story.
I was taken in from the very beginning. This is an extremely well written clean fantasy that I would suggest to anyone! Magic, demons, assassins, God's & monsters of all sorts. I can't wait to dive into Fateweaver!
This is a good opening to a new series with fantastic world creation. I agree with some of the other reviews that being a YA story it has a very mature sense to it. I got an almost fairytale vibe while reading.
This book was so good! The world-building was really interesting and unique. I loved the idea of a "clean" story and it didn't disappoint for me, who tends to like subtler romance depending on the story. The characters all have their own flaws and strengths, even the villains or those deemed "bad people"
