Read the stunning series based on the de Wolfe Pack book, THE LION OF THE NORTH
It is the tempestuous time of the Wars of the Roses and, as the Lancasters and the Yorks battle for the Crown, Lady Desiderata de Mandeviel is caught in the games men play in their lust for power and privilege. Contracted to wed from birth, she welcomes a union with the love of her life, the greatest lancer in England, Titus Saint-Germain. When her father delivers news of her betrothed’s untimely demise, and demands she marry another, Desi must choose between her heart’s desire and family loyalty. Will Desi trust her instincts or yield to paternal authority?
Harboring a secret, the truth of his parentage, imparted by his mother on her deathbed, Titus Saint-Germain finds himself trapped between two warring factions with no escape. A loyal Yorkist, the warrior knight serves with distinction and valor, until his own men, in the heat of battle, betray him. It is a scene eerily similar to the one that claimed the life of his father, the great Titus de Wolfe, at Towton, with a singular exception. Help arrives in the form of an unlikely ally—an uncle unaware of his brother’s progeny. Will Titus resist fate and deny his destiny, or will the Lone Wolfe, at long last, journey home to the Lair?
Books in the Heirs of Titus de Wolfe series by Barbara Devlin: Lone Wolfe The Big, Bad de Wolfe Talk, Dark, and de Wolfe
Barbara Devlin was born a storyteller. A Texan, through and through, Barbara hasn’t been without a book in her possession since she was in kindergarten. She wrote her first short story, a really cheesy murder-mystery, in high school, but it was a Christmas gift, a lovely little diary with a bronze lock, given to her in the fifth grade that truly inspired her love for writing.
After completing part of her undergraduate studies at the University of London, Barbara returned home and began a career in banking. But the late 80’s weren’t too promising for the financial industry, and every bank that hired Barbara soon folded. So she searched for a stable occupation, and the local police department offered the answer to her prayers.
Initially, Barbara wasn’t too sure about her new chosen career in law enforcement, but she soon came to love being a police officer. However, on an uncharacteristically cold and icy day in December 1998, Barbara was struck by a car and pinned against a guardrail while working an accident on a major highway. Permanently disabled, she retired from the police department and devoted her time and energy to physical therapy.
Once Barbara got back on her feet, she focused on a new career in academia. She earned an MA in English, continued on a course of study for a Doctorate in Literature and Rhetoric, started writing historical fiction in her spare time, and completed five full-length novels featuring her fictional knighthood, the Brethren of the Coast. Book six is currently in the works.
England 1447 A wonderful story written in old English which made me feel I was there in medieval times! Barbara Devlin has taken two fascinating characters an woven a story of love and secrets that will define their journey to each other. Titus St Germain finds out from his dying mother that he is really a de Wolfe and needs to claim his heritage. Desiiderata (Desi) and Titus had been in love for many year but they both had been promised to others since they were children. When that changes for Desi, Titus is back in her life. But it is not a smooth journey for them to be together. Follow these two fated for each other try to overcome the lies, betrayals and secrets to find the happy ending. Loved this story!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋 A really enjoyable book , and written in Middle English style that really adds to the story and setting . The son of Titus , named for his father finds love , only to have it cruelly taken away because of the support of opposing forces . Desiderata promised to Titus from birth , is now promised to another , Titus has to fight to save their love . It may take a few minutes to get into the rhythm of reading this because of the language but stick with it because it’s so worth it . Wonderful story and characters . Recommended
Oh what a great Historical romance. I love the work this author has put into it being correct from the way they speak to how events would have truly been. Barbara Devlin's writings are a complete work that transports you to the time she is telling. I can say she has a compete fan in her story telling ability and this book is the same.
“May the grace of the Lord protect and defend ye, until we are reunited, and I hold ye in my arms. But as the date of that glad tiding remains a mystery, I shall simply remind ye that I love ye.”
Titus Saint-Germain a child born of love but raised by a man not his biological father were his mother and he were treated poorly. Upon her death she tells him the truth and how he needs to find his fathers family for many would now turn against him. How fast life can change. Titus has now idea how quickly this happens and his love for Lady Desiderata is at risk.
Lady Desiderata de Mandeviel has looked forward to her life with Titus. Things start to change around her when his mother dies. Why her father acts so strange she cant understand . When her father tells her he has died how will she go on with what he has planned for her?
“My darling, thou art never alone or without me, as thou dost carry my heart, as a shield, invulnerable to the weapons of war. And whither thou dost go, so go I.”
I had read Lion of the North by Kathryn Le Veque, which is Atticus de Wolfe's story and it was one of my favorites. I had never read a de Wolfe Pack World story until Lone Wolfe by Barbara Devlin. I have to say I was thrilled when I finish the story because it just gave me more, because it had Atticus de Wolfe and Isabeau in the story.
Titus Saint-Germain learns from her mother at her deathbed his true parentage. He vows to keep a promise he makes to her at her deathbed. This Promise not only places him in danger but it also places in danger his betrothed, Lady Desiderata de Mendeviel.
Desi, learns the truth about her betrothed but nothing will change her mind or her love about Titus. She will do everything in her power to be with him forever, despite her father now wanting to break the betrothal and marry her off to someone else.
I love how Atticus de Wolfe and Lady Isabeau are in this story and we also learn more about Titus de Wolfe.
This is truly a deathbed promise that changes all.
Titus de Wolfe was in a relationship with Margreit d’Engagne. She was with child but did not want to tell Titus. She did not want him to marry her out of duty, she wanted love. As they parted, she proclaimed her love for him, but he did not return the sentiment. This small action forced these two people into marriages which were disasters. Margreit’s husband knew the child was not his so he was very cruel to both. Titus, the father, was killed in a battle and requested his brother, Atticus to marry his widow. Titus, the son, is in love with Desderata de Mandevile. She is waiting for him to return from the battle. Can they find love in war-torn England? This is a wonderful start to this three book series. I love everything Ms. Devlin writes and read her every word.
If you love the World of de Wolfe, you will like this story. It is how the Dukedom comes to be in the family of de Wolfe! I deducted a star for women given in marriage, at 16, some never living past their first child. Giggling is for ten year old little girls, not grown women ready to go to a frightful death, by their husbands side. I recommend! Thanks! carolintallahassee 👒
So many changes in the course of this marvelous novella, you wi ll find you are unable to put it down! Adventures, suspense, and intrigue will send you on the emotional rollercoaster Barbara is so skilled at portraying. A definite MUST READ!
Margreit Saint-Germain has confessed to her son Titus that the man he always thought was his father was not and to warn him about treachery around him. Lady Desiderata de Mandeviel has been betrothed to Titus since they were children and her Father is part of the treachery.
I could not stand to read beyond the first chapter due to the lonesome language!! I will return the other books, in this series, unread. I will be careful to avoid this author, in the future. I was bored to tears!!
Love love loved this! The olde English style of speech was awesome! Not a long book but it's very good! Great characters and funny too. Now I want the next one! I hope you enjoy this as well as I did. Happy reading! Lori😺
Glad to read of Titus's legacy. The choice of wording is a bit confusing. Less formal English would have been my choice. Love reading about de Wolfe pack members.
As a huge fan of Devlin's work, I was over the moon with excitement to learn that she was releasing a new novella. I was even more curious to see what she would bring to the table with characters not part of the Brethren.
The Lone Wolfe was at times both exciting and heartrendingly sad. The idea that in that time period love did not necessarily guarantee a lifetime together and more often than not marriages were brokered for the alliances and acquisitions of land and were not love matches. This is the case with our characters. Margreit and Titus De Wolfe truly care for each other. Unfortunately they are on opposing sides of a battle for the Crown. This however means nothing to them when their eyes meet across a ballroom. For two years they conduct themselves in a clandestine liaison until the day Margreit must break off their relationship because her father has brokered a match for her. With hearts broken they part ways and each settle into arranged marriages.
This is not the story of Margreit and Titus though. This is the story of the unknown child of Titus. Margreit does not inform her son that he is the bastard son of infamous Titus De Wolfe until she is on her deathbed and bids him to find his father's family. This is where things get interesting. About to lose his lands and everything to those he once called allies Titus sets forth to find his father's family and ends up finding so much more.
In what I have come to expect from Devlin, this story was both exciting and emotional. Something to be read with tissue nearby. I could not put it down from the moment I began reading it. I had not been familiar with the original series by Kathryn Le Veque, however, after reading Lone Wolfe I find myself wanting to go back and read the original series that spurred the the contribution by Devlin.
This was a magnificent continuation of the DeWolfe saga...A death bed confession, theooming of war & love...this story has it all. Set in the turbulent times of the War of the Roses, Titus finds out several truths that alter his world. Barbara has done a magnificent job, of bringing to life these times, with her wonderful attention to detail, & her narrative skills are beyond compare. From the well developed characters & her amazingly written dialogue, this story will transport you to another time & place. This is an absolute "Must-Read"... I wept, feel in love & fought, & not just on the battlefield. Thank you for an adventure beyond compare..This story is pure magic !! 5+
Lone Wolfe by Barbara Devlin is a seductive and sexy tale of Titus Saint-Germain and Lady Desiderata de Mandeviel who are betrothed long before they even knew the other existed. As with any great romance, this one finds our lovers actually in love with each other, which makes this tale that much more divine
A secret, a letter, and a deathbed confession add to this magical historical romance that takes us on an epic journey. If you’ve ever read a Barbara Devlin romance you know that every detail is polished and every scene has a purpose.
I received this ARC from the author for an honest and fair review. I hope that you will get your copy today and discover for yourself a must read!
I bought this book as soon as it hit Amazon, and I loved it, it is very well written and the fun part it was Medieval times..She put you right there and from her way of writing you thought you were right there within the story. Very descriptive, it has everything a story needs..Romance, betrayal, adventure. Oh and it will bring on some tears..amazing amazing read by Barbara and I can't wait to read more of her stories, this one went above and beyond what I am used to by her...and it was so worth it!
Wow,I absolutely loved this story. Barbara really knows how to keep you glued and on the edge at all times. Titus and Desi are a wonderful pair. Fighting for each other every step and helping each other and not giving up. Titus recently at his mother's death found out that he is not a Saint-Germain but a De Wolfe and his lands are threaten. Also soon finds out he has lost allies and the woman he loves is promised to another.. Will he be able to be a De Wolfe and regain his land and his love or will it all be lost?
I recommend this book for all historical lovers. You will not be disappointed.
My first book in the World of de Wolfe Pack and it was excellent! How I loved reading about Titus de Wolfe's son, after first meeting Titus de Wolfe in Kathryn Le Veque's "Lion of the North." It was bittersweet, yet highly satisfying, to know that Titus left a son and continued his line so beautifully! Visiting with Sir Atticus de Wofle (Titus' brother) and Isabeau de Wolfe from "Lion of the North" was wonderful. Fabulous book!
My first book by this author which will not be my last!
Upon open this book I was more than ready to embark on the adventure that was held within the pages. I wasn't prepared for needing tissue but I loved it just the same from the heart wrenching moment in Titus's mother chamber to the moment on battle field. I hope to see Titus again in the future!!!
I loved the "lion of the north" except for the death of Titus. Now with this book his story lives on and the way the story line repeats the first is great. And the love story between Titus and Desi is very moving.
A great story about Titus de Wolfe. This book is about the father of the Big Bad Wolfe. I enjoyed reading this book and reading about the love between Titus and Desi.
Lone Wolfe is a must read. It keep me turning the pages from cover to cover and left me satisfied in the end. The plot was intriguing and the characters endearing. I highly recommend this book.
Titus Saint-Germain finds himself shaken when on his mother’s death bed she confess the truth of his parentage. Titus de Wolfe and Magreit d’Engagne were star crossed lovers, each betrothed to others, and they knew their duty to family. Margriet knew Titus could not break his betrothal so she did not burden him with the fact she was carrying his child, she decided to save herself and their child when she married her betrothed Roncin Saint-Germain. His mother make him promise to go to his father’s family, “seek thy heritage, my son, before it is too late. Titus Saint-Germain knows the tides are turning in the Lancastrian and York when his a couple of men try to kill him in battle. Titus’s betrothed Lady Desiderata de Mandeviel is caught in the games men play in their lust for power and privilege, her father has broken the contract with Titus and betrothed her to another. Titus tells Lady Desi the truth of his parentage and she stands by him now and forever and she’ll do everything in her power to be with him forever, despite her father. I loved this story Titus’s grandfather Solomon, his Uncle Atticus de Wolfe, the Lion of the North and his wife Lady Isabeau (Titus de Wolfe’s widow) it’s great to see how the de Wolfe family embrace Titus into the de Wolfe family. There’s no stronger bond than family and no other like the de Wolfe’s. A captivating story of romance, intrigue and family as the war continues raging as Titus and Desi fight for their castle and home. This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.
