I read it the first time over 50 years ago for school & decided to reread it on its 100th anniversary. It's been a long time since I read a book so well written. The descriptions are amazing. It's nice to read a well written book once in awhile.

I think I expected more from this classic title. I thought it was okay but nothing extraordinary.
Is it because this was a simplified version? Maybe.
Either way, it felt like a dime-a-dozen story. Nothing special.

This book ranks up there with the best of the best. Jay Gatsby is one of my favorite characters of all time; Daisy makes me nuts to treat him so badly. I loved the setting - the roaring 20s - and I loved all the hidden meanings and themes. Read it and save it for your special bookshelf!
