I really enjoy this author's books. I am particularly enjoying this series about three sister witches and the curse their family is under in the magical town where they live. Great paranormal fiction.

The characters are really likable and relatable both the three sisters - who each star in one of the books of the trilogy - and the supporting characters who people the town of Doyle.

The plot is well-constructed and very engaging. It's easy to buy into the battle the sisters are fighting to try to break the curse they are under and to root for them to be successful.

I find the stories go in interesting directions and there are some unexpected twists which makes for an exciting, compelling read. I read this in just a couple of days and it was very enjoyable. I definitely plan to read the final book in the trilogy to find out what happens next.

I found this book less enjoyable than the previous one. The heroine, Jayce wasn't terribly interesting and I thought the mostly missing hero was obnoxious.

This book contains even less romance than the previous one. There's some longing, the hero steps in and is annoying, he goes away because of plot, and nothing happens. The romance happens very quickly right at the end so read this book for the mystery.

This is not a complaint, just an observation, but there is no sex in this series. It's not even mentioned.

Oh my goodness, Jayce has a lot she's dealing with. After being accused of murder previously (but beating the rap OBVIOUSLY since she didn't do it), she now has another dead body popping up around her. And given everything that went down before, the sheriff is all too happy to have Jayce in her crosshairs. I might be exaggerating a little about that, but Jayce does have to answer questions AGAIN about a body and that's no fun.

To complicate things even further, she and Brayden (the widower of the body found previously) are exploring a potential relationship since his wife is, you know, not around. While they really were only friends while he was married, people are still giving them the stink eye because this thing happened pretty quickly. To be fair, Brayden has been on Jayce's radar forever, but she steered clear since he WAS married.

No lie, these Bonheim triplets lead complicated lives.

With the sheriff sniffing around her, Jayce realizes she needs to do some digging to figure out who really did the deed before she gets arrested for real. So she digs. She asks questions. And while all this is going on, the sisters are still trying to figure out how to break the family curse. That's a pretty big deal since none of them want to die tragically in the near future.

A stolen truck, a dead body, sisterly bonds, magic that is going a little haywire, a man who is willing to risk everything for his witchy love, and a lady who is working hard to live life to the fullest and keep her family safe. Also, WHOA THAT THING THAT HAPPENED AT THE END. Yikes!

I like it enough to complete the trilogy arc but the characters aren't compelling enough to continue further.

Good
1) The settings were well-done; love the creativity of middle-world
2) The series/trilogy arc continued in a strong manner
3) The plot-driven storyline was compelling
4) The relationship between the three sisters continues to be strong and unaffected

Neutral
1) World-building continues to be light
2) The female lead was proactive on all fronts but her personality was thin and kinda boring, especially for someone built up as a party girl in the first book

Bad
1) The male lead was another place holder; no character and no personality outside of cowardly
2) The romantic-driven storyline had zero development and lacked any emotional connection; apparently they have been in love for years while he was married to another woman but no backstory was provided for how this happened, why he didn't leave his wife and their present on-page interactions were either detached or the male lead pushing the female lead away
3)

Another decent mystery

This edition of the sisters' trilogy features Jayce, the oldest and most erratic triplet. Now that Braydon is settled into being a widower and Jayce has been cleared of the murder they are finally free to go on their first almost official date. But the powers that be behind the strange events in Doyle aren't finished with the sisters yet. More murder, more danger, and a whole lot of skeletons fall out of unexpected closets, but do the sisters really get any closer to solving the problem of their family curse? I hate to say it, but this book ended rather abruptly in an odd spot. It felt like the author stepped away from her desk and forgot to include the final chapter. The teaser chapter for the next book doesn't even pick up where this one left off but at some indeterminate point in the future. That won't stop me from reading the third book in the trilogy, but if that sort of thing really bugs you, be warned.

Kirsten Weiss is one of my favorite authors and I like most of the many series she writes. I enjoyed the first book in this series but not this one as much, at least initially. I've never been a fan of does-he/doesn't-he like me/love me aspects to romance in a story. And that's the first bit in the story. It picks up with the suspicious deaths that Jayce, main focus sister in this book, is being framed for.
The story felt a bit more disjointed than other books by Weiss and it took some time for it to get going for me and I'd only read a bit each night before sleep instead of the 'just one more page' I usually do and the book is about to fall from my hands deal.
Until last night and I couldn't sleep until I found out what was going to happen. And I finished it at 0300. Then I slept for hours. A very good last half of the book. I look forward to the next in the series but will take a break for a bit from the Doyle witches.

Another cute, cozy paranormal mystery!

This time, it's eldest sister Jayce on whom the tale focuses; after getting past a dead body being found in her coffee shop in the previous book, this time the dead body is in her stolen truck.

As Jayce and her sisters, Karin and Lenore, do some magical sleuthing concerning the town of Doyle, the bodies and coincidences start to pile up around them. None of this makes Jayce's budding relationship with Brayden any easier.

Kirsten Weiss has built up another good "whodunnit," although I had my suspicions by the time the reveal came around, and given us characters whom readers will feel like they know.

A fun series, and well worth investigating if you like cozies.

Great read

I really enjoy Kirsten Weiss’s series. I got Bound at a bargain price as a member of her Raven(ous) Society which is an adventure itself. I recommend joining if you enjoy her writing. I got so caught up in Bound, I immediately purchased Ground. This mystery was more complicated than the first. So I’m going to get Down immediately. I can’t wait to see how the sisters break the Doyle curse. Kirsten’s books have well drawn characters and mysteries that kept me guessing. I enjoy all of her series that I’ve read. Some a funny, have magic, murder and romance but no blatant sex scenes or bad language. She has become a favorite of mine.

I really enjoyed this book and would have given it a higher rating if it weren’t for the inconsistencies. In book 1 (Bound), everyone in town thought Jayce was sleeping with the Brayden, the husband of the murdered woman and in this book, Jayce was fuming after being accused of sleeping with the murdered man (Matt) that “she had never been accused of sleeping with a married man before!” But she had!! What really, really bothered me, though, was in book 1, Brayden’s wife’s name was Alisha. In book 2, they called her Alyce. Did the author or the editor even read book 1?? There was some other continuity error but I can’t remember it now. If you can bypass those, this was a fun read.

Wow! I really enjoyed this book. I actually thought this book was even better than the first. The first book was from Karin's POV, whereas this was us from Jayce's POV. Like the first, I really liked how there was a real (human) mystery and also a supernatural mystery. There were a lot of twists and even when I thought I had figured it out, another twist came along. I have already downloaded the third book so I can start it immediately.

As the story continues, you are in for a surprise. A few more people will die and the fairy/ unseelie will be up to not good. Jayce is being attacked again and Karin as well. Lenore is having difficulties traversing the shaman worlds. There is trouble in paradise for Jayce and Braden but Nick and Karin are doing well. Lots of action, plots twists and plenty of surprises! I highly recommend this book and the series!

Now a body shows up in Jayce's stolen truck.

What I enjoyed:
* I like the sisters interacting
* Glad they finally figured out who is the unseelie, it was pretty obvious in book 1

What could have been better:
* I basically know nothing about Brayden other than he was married, but in love with Jayce which isn't a great recommendation
* I think Karen and Nick had more romantic scenes than the couple from this book

More mystery and murder surround the triplets in book 2 of The Witches of Doyle. This book switches to Jayce's points of view. I enjoyed book 1 more but this book still had a great storyline that kept me interested.

Poor Jayce she has bad luck with the police and love life. The shock on finding out who the unseelie ended up being. The dance between Jayce and Brayden on their relationship. I loved hearing more about Karin and Nick and not just going to the next sister forgetting about them. I have a guess on who’s interested in Lenore. I can’t wait to start reading the next book!

This book was good but I enjoyed the first one a little more. This one didn't draw me in as much and I'd figured out the unseelie in Book 1. Still an enjoyable book. I don't like books that don't end though and you have to read the next book to get the ending.

Ground is book #2 in The Witches of Doyle cosy paranormal mysteries. They are set in the town of Doyle in the Sierra mountains of California.

Book #2 is Jayce's story, she is the oldest of the Bonheim triplet witches. Jayce owns a coffee shop called Ground. Whilst at a country pub one Friday night her truck is stolen. It turns up the next day with a dead body in the back.

Once again Jayce is a suspect. The body is of Matt Zana a local handyman. While the police begin a methodical inquiry, Jayce and her family believe it is once again the work of the Unseelie or Fairy from the Fairy Spring influencing the inhabitants of Doyle.

Jayce is determined to solve the mystery behind Matt herself, she discovers he was a bit of a player and more than one person in town was being blackmailed by him. A second body is found and the attacks keep coming. The girls need to close in on the Unseelie and find the rose rabbit who they think will help them with to put an end to the bad luck in Doyle.

Another solid kitchen witch cosy, and a big ending to carry over to book #3.
